1976Cordoba 11-25-2008, 06:20 PM Hey Rich, didn't you turn one of these into a sprint car, or a Tyco stock car, or something? . . .

I honestly think one of Rich's wing retrofits would improve that car!
Sorta like the tornado the went through downtown Shelton just recently...it did 3 million dollars of improvments.
resinmonger 11-25-2008, 10:34 PM Wow, Doba, you found the rare Euro-release version of the Monza!!! The paint scheme is somewhat reminiscent of one of the Zakspeed Capris that ran in the DRM - see picture. Note I ddn't say it was beautiful - just that there was a link to a REAL CAR.
Next, you'll find a rare Peruvian Farkleberry Livery version of the AFX Shadow. One doesn't see those very often.

tomhocars 11-28-2008, 04:42 AM Not such a bad deal.Wonder what one in the box would get now. These cars were not banded. They came mounted on sticky tape, sometimes with a rubber band attached. Tom Stumpf
AfxToo 11-28-2008, 08:50 AM Yeah, too bad the Department of Homeland Stupidity does not maintain a "No Bid" list.
The current Stupidity Threat Level on E-Bay is now ... Red (SEVERE).
Please remove your shoes, and affix your SIGN to your forehead, before the continuation of further bidding.

No, Doba, it's now proudly displayed as a Warren Johnson Pro Stocker. You just route out the hood and install a hood scoop. OH, you have to enlarge the rear wheel wells, carefully, with either a hot spoon, or a hack saw. I guess now is the time to list that STP sprint car on eBayed.

T-Jet Racer 11-28-2008, 01:24 PM wow where are these people when i sell stuff???
slotcarman12078 11-28-2008, 02:56 PM One out of control bidding spree and all of a sudden 15 more of the same item show up in the listings. Almost never fails. Supply exceeds demand and all the sellers lose. Insane bidding happens, but it isn't worth it to jump on the band wagon right after the fact, cause 10 others are already thinking of making that mistake.

As far as value is concerned. This car went cheap. That same car in about the same condition went for over a grand just two years ago. You wont be seeing many more of these popping up because A) they are very rare.
and B) most are sold off ebay from collector to collector.
It is my hope that these Aurora and AFX cars will continue to rise in value as they are sort of art and do capture in good detail Americas long love of the automobile.

slotcarman12078 11-29-2008, 04:23 PM I wasn't singling this item in particular, AFX. My comment was more a response to T Jet's.. I agree this car is rare, as I don't ever recall seeing one prior to this thread. I have never considered myself a collector, and have no clue as to the true value of any particular car, or color; I apologize if I was misunderstood.

wow where are these people when i sell stuff???
My comment does have to do with my own limited personal experience from the wacky world of Ebay.. When I started buying stuff for my new table, I kinda went crazy buying T Jet railroad crossings. Not understanding the way Ebay worked at the time, and the slotting public in general, it never crossed my mind that the hobby and the marketability of said merchandise would be "seasonal". After taking a loss on two RR Xings trying to sell them after plans changed, I realized the market wasn't there (dead during the summer) and held off listing the remaining two. Then a fluke occured, Ebay had only one listed (not mine, unfortunately) and the price went up to an unbelievable level... over $60.00.. and myself and a plethora of others all jumped in with our own crossings trying to capitalize on the newfound level of worth. We all lost with the market flooded. The only saving grace for me was the high starting bid, so mine didn't sell, but I still had to eat the listing fees.. My recent experience with slots and ebay are fairly young, as I just passed my first year anniversary with the bay. That's how long I've been messing with slots also, this time around. The last time was in the late 80's. I guess I should have quoted T-Jet on that post... Hopefully, my babbling makes sense now!!

LTjet 11-30-2008, 09:57 PM eBay is like the stock market. The same item listed at different times can sell from next to nothing to out of this world. I bid what I think the item should sell for based on 5 years of steady activity. Some people have a lot more money to spend than others, but I'm not one of them. I have bought from the people in this group and have always been satisfied with their offerings.
