The Novak Super Sport ESC comes with a ss5800 which draws like 225 Watts and the ss8.5 Pro says is draws like 280 Watts. Can I use it? The SS ESC book says it will take up to an 8.5 but is that an 8.5 Sport, or Pro? My ESC doesn't run hot at all nor does the motor, I can keep my finger on them for as long as I like right after a run! Is it possible to put a 7.5 Velocity Light? Because that wattage draw is only 250 Watts! All of these numbers are from the Novak BL Motor Spec sheet! So what I'm getting at is the limit of the ESC wattage / current or is it actually turns? But if it is turns, then can I use the ss8.5 Pro?

I would say try it. The worst your going to do is thermal your speedo and it will shut down. I would just keep an eye on temps.

Thanks, but none of this is helping. Are you a Team Novak employee? I could send this to Novak but they will just tell me not to run anything except the 5800, I know it! So even if it heats up too much it will just go into overload and there will no damage? So why don't more people put faster motors in their sport systems and run them just for a 5 min race?

Novak's website clearly states that the Super Sport is only compatible with the 4300 and 5800 motors. Any of the motors with specs similar to the 5800 could also work. The SS8.5 Pro motor with the sintered rotor produces too much power and the Super Sport is not rated to handle it.

been there done that.the ss WILL handle an 8.5 ss.Besides the bonded rotor in the ss5800 runs way more inefficient and runs hotter than a sintered rotor 8.5

I raced an SS with an 8.5 pro sintered for almost two years with no issues, several other did the same thing at the track, just dont put a lower turn motor on it and you will be golden
