View Full Version : John Mayer fan's with HD Cable
PhilipMarlowe 11-25-2008, 11:56 AM Be sure to check out the episode of Soundstage with Mayer playing on PALHD. Not only does Mayer do a great set, but it looks and sounds frakkin' fantastic in HD!
They run some decent old concert films as well.
El Gato 11-25-2008, 10:53 PM Scott, Scott, Scott. John Mayer? Really? The guy whose song, Waiting for the World to Change is summarized by the fightin' words, "Hey, we don't like what's going on, so we'll just wait for our turn, you just wait, then you'll see!"? The guy who recites the line "Say what you mean to say" four times more than any other line in Say? That guy?
:p
PhilipMarlowe 11-26-2008, 09:48 AM That's the guy. He also did a great cover of Route 66 for the Cars soundtrack, and a smokin' acoustic guitar version of "Message in a bottle" I actually prefer to the original Police version.
Zorro 11-26-2008, 10:33 AM Watched "Wattstax" last night. Issac Hayes, Rufus Thomas, The Staples, The Bar-Kays, and big fluffy Afros for miles and miles.

LOL, I watched that too, made a great double feature with James Brown Live at the Apollo.
Boy, People sure liked denim back then.
They're gonna be running Spinal Tap in HD this weekend.

Yeah, Mayer is a surprisingly gifted guitarist with a genuinely muscular and bluesy style. Not what you would expect given his "pop" recordings.

I agree, I got into Mayer when a friend gave me one of his live bootlegs, just Mayer and a acoustic guitar in a small club, I like it much more than any of his studio stuff.
Buddy Guy joins him onstage at the end of the Soundstage concert for a few blues tunes.
seaQuest 11-26-2008, 04:14 PM You mean John Mayer actually has a professional career?
I thought he was the guy who guest-hosted TMZ one week! I always see him on TMZ!
