Ok, Came back to the sport was brushed for a weekend. Now I am BL.

Therefore, the question is this. What Spurs and Pinions to buy?

Classes are

21.5 Lipo
17.5 Spec 4cell

The main reason I ask this is due to the fact I have my kids with both cars and trucks.
If I just start buying I will never have what i need. So Lets hear the range you guys use in this situation.

On my short track cars, I use the KIMBROUGH 88t spurs w/ the 21.5/LIPO...they are about 1/2 the price of the PRS and work great

On the BIG tracks I use the PRS 76, and hope to drop down to the 74's and 72's, but they are very pricey, and it's hard to buy spares (when you have 4-5 cars.) cause that's at least 6 of each (almost 120 bucks on just a handful of spur gears...)

Pinions...will be based on the roll out you need...but the BIG PRS are really good, I know there's a couple others who make BIG ones....but I'm not sure who (RW maybe)

Jake's Performance Hobbies, Left Hander R/C and others usually carry them - if your LHS doesn't but sometimes certain sizes are hard to get - apparently PRS does small runs at once.

I would use a 92 on both cars. That way you can have different pinions for the 2 cars.

I think you would run between a 3.70-4.10 rollout with the 17.5 car and probably between 3.50-3.80 rollout with the 21.5 lipo car.

I run PRS gears only. They do cost more, but they are top quality. They also have a website you can order from if your local hobby shop doesn't carry them.

check out lefthander for the RW gears.. I love em. they are 5 bucks each and just as light and good. PRS does have the super large ones, but i have bought RW's up to 52 tooth size.

Robison Racing is also making some of the smaller spurs and larger pinions. Check the product support forum.

Is there an adavantage of running the smaller spurs on short tracks?

Most find, or think they find it more advantageous to use the largest spur you can and still get the correct rollout.

On the local, and other short tracks, I use 88, 96 or 100's most of the time on my 17.5 car. On my 21.5 car, I usually use a 76 almost always now on my car and I bounce between a 76 and a 88 on my sons car.

With the PRS & ROBINSON gears you now have the ability to go 72,73,74,75,76,78
