Friday January 23, Battle Front Gaming will hold its first Slash Bash Trophy race. We will have a spec class and with enough interest a mod class if 3 or more mods sign up. More info will follow about start times and such, we just wanted to get the idea out in view. Rules for the classes can be found on the slash spec class at BFG thread.

Leonard
12-21-2008, 08:02 PM
I know 2 already said they were, so if you do, that makes at least 3. I'm on the fence, I don't know if i'm running stock or mod yet. Maybe both.

will you be able to rent a slash for the bash on the 23?

Only problem with the Slash rental is that 3 of mine have gone brushless and 2 have worn out Titans in them that I am not planning on replacing. I am going to put brushless in them as well.

Running a brushless will have to go in the mod class. To run in the stock class and have a strong Titan you would have to provide your own motor to put in the truck or run one of mine which might or might not be competitive.

Otherwise, yes I will make them available for rental.

The day is getting closer! I have a few questions I want to throw out and get some responses on. First, this is going to be a trophy race, but the whole idea is to have fun (thus the pizza, pop, etc.) How does everyone feel about the following thoughts:

1.) Music on the PA before the racing, between rounds, during the food break and after racing is done? Will this disturb anyone?

2.) Do you want the scoring system to call the race or would you rather have a "human" voice calling the races?

3.) IFMAR starts for the Mains or a "Supercross" 4 wide starting grid, drop the flag and everyone go?

Leonard
01-20-2009, 08:02 PM
Music, computer, IFMAR

I think anyhting but an IFMAR start for the mains kind takes some of the importance of qualifying well away . Club racing would be one thing, but for trophies, I don't think the person who qualified 1st should share the pole with 3 other trucks and the wreckage that will follow.

Agreed. Only reason I asked is, when we were down racing at Leisure Hours I watched the Slash A and B Mains. They started both with 10 trucks, two rows of 5. Was bad ass to watch them take off and the amazing thing was, no wrecks the first lap. They started way back on the end of the straight, so all the fast trucks broke away from each other by the time you make the first corner. Was sweeeeeet to watch, I bet even more fun to race.

Probably a human calling out races would be best I think. Ifmar starts and music would be good.

You know what an IFMAR start is don't you? It's like what is done in qualifing with everyone on their own clock. You should be racing other trucks in the main and not the clock. Mains should never be IFMAR start IMHO.

Yes you are right Hank, my bad, I just re-read what I asked. IFMAR starts for the qualifying and all at once for the mains. I guess my real question was, do we want to go 4 wide to start or line 'em up nose to tail.

Hehe... that is what I figued but wanted to make sure it was clear. Personally, I like Supercross or landrush starts as it's a great equalizer and would be much more like the real thing (CORR does landrush starts). We did one a few weeks ago with 7 trucks on the front straight and made it to the tabletop before there were any problems. Of course the guys that would normally TQ wouldn't vote that way ;) But in the end it's whatever it is.

Leonard

May have been bad wording calling it an IFMAR start but we ment normal start like we always do. I always know what I mean in my own head:freak:
