teamductape 02-22-2009, 11:07 AM yeah 1 more week this is going to be sweet
we tried the 3 lap qualifing yesterday and it went real smooth. i liked it just feels more like real racing
see everybody next weekend, jason
kzoolou 02-22-2009, 06:16 PM After testing it out this week, we decided to incorporate a qualifying time trial into the race next week. Here's how it's going to work:
When you pay for your registration, you will be given a qualifying sheet for every class that you are racing.
You will need to grab a transponder (or use a personal) and get in line at the entrance to the track.
When it's your turn, you will hand your sheet and your vehicle to me and go up to the drivers stand. Please be careful not to disrupt the person on the stand qualifying.
After the previous qualifier has left the track, your vehicle will be placed on the track.
You get one warm up lap. The scoring loop is located near the announcers window. Your time will begin the second time that you cross the line.
Qualifying will consist of three laps. Your best lap will be recorded and this will seed you in the qualifying heats.
If you are running multiple classes, you will need to repeat this process for each vehicle you are entering.
Failure to qualify will automatically seed you at the bottom, however, the heats will be re-seeded after the second qualifying heat so qualifying is not mandatory.
It's a pretty straight forward procedure, but we'll try to go over it again on race day just to make sure everyone understands how it works.
There will be prizes awarded for the top qualifiers in each class.
kzoolou 02-22-2009, 10:57 PM Just an update on the event:

A few more details and times have been added. If you have any questions, PM me.
jasburrito 02-23-2009, 06:14 PM Any 1/8,s gonna be there?
Would my electric 8 be in outlaw class?
Ran my b44 at a club race oval night last year had a blast.Ended Up winning the main.Kinda strange that I beat the oval cars!
So I was thinking running my 1/8 would be even more fun
whatever
thanks

It's a 1/10 class so that probably not going to work, but if you throw a late model body on your b44, I think you're good to go. 4WD is a riot on the oval. Come on out.
kzoolou 02-23-2009, 08:13 PM Just to clarify, the Stock Slash class will require a Titan 12 motor to keep it close to spec and keep the racing halfway even. You change out the electronics, but need to keep the chasis, shocks, tires and some type of CORR type body. No aluminum parts. RPM is fine.
We are not scheduled to run a Mod class for slash this weekend.
If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me.
kzoolou 02-25-2009, 05:10 PM Due to qualifying, practice for the Oval Championships will be limited to Friday, February 27th, from noon until 8pm when the club race begins and Saturday from 7-9am.
We will run open practice until it starts to get crowded on the track. No more than 7 racers should be on the stand at any one time. As soon as practice heats begin to fill up, we will be rotating classes on the track to keep trucks with trucks, Sprints with Sprints etc. More information will be available at the track, but it will be something like: run for five minutes, marshall for five minutes, get back in line. This way, most of the vehicles on the track will be running at approximately the same speeds so you can get some quality practice time in.
As always, let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
420 Tech R/C 02-26-2009, 12:08 PM 2 days.Cars are ready.i'm ready.But the damn clock just isnt moving fast enough!
kzoolou 02-26-2009, 02:11 PM It's going to be a good time for sure. Sounds like a lot of guys might be coming Friday for practice, to stake out their pit, and the super cheap ($5) club race to get their stuff dialed in.
There won't be a lot of time on Saturday to practice, but there will be a couple of hours (7-9am) if folks can't make it out on Friday.
kzoolou 02-27-2009, 09:45 AM Practice starts at noon today.
420 Tech R/C 02-27-2009, 04:01 PM see you all in the AM!!!!
LOSI_Duck 02-28-2009, 06:39 AM See ya when I can get there!:woohoo:
kzoolou 02-28-2009, 11:27 PM I hope everyone had fun today. Track was in great shape, competition was good, and there were some decent prizes to boot.
Race results for the Championships are available at: http://fatalimpactracing.com/?q=node/329 Some of the times from Friday night seem pretty sketchy, but I think that might have just been a transponder issue.
I'll get some pictures up on the website and on here as soon as I get them from Don.
Wanted to make sure everyone was recognized for their efforts today.
Thanks to:
Andy, for donating his time and talent painting that awesome Late Model body. Really wish I could have put my name in for that one.
Revo, for running the show all day today. You did an awesome job!
Duke Bradshaw and the Raceplex in Fruitport- For sponsoring the Late Model and Sprint classes as well as hooking us up with some killer pricing on some door prizes. That was defintely above and beyond.
Fatal Impact Racing- Most of the guys in Fatal Impact don't even run Oval, but they thought it was important enough to contribute heavily to this event. Without their patronage and maintenance of the tracks at BFG, events like these would not be possible.
Hankster- For sponsoring the Hobbytalk Stock Slash class. You almost won your own race!!!
Fantom Motors- Even though their sponsorship didn't make it on time, we will be sending out certificates to several individuals drawn randomly from the race.
That's probably too much thanking, but thanks again anyway. It was fun.
420 Tech R/C 03-01-2009, 12:39 AM As always guys that was a well run program.Brandon and I had loads of fun today.I wish more people could have made it out for this event, but the competition that was there was some of the best dirt oval guys around.Butch and Curt are both fast as all get out as usual. But I chalk up finishing 2nd to either of those 2 guys as being an awesome day.And Scott was no slouch in the Mod truck main either. The comeback to 2nd after being almost 2 laps down was the stuff man!! Hell of a good run!
sbrady#0 03-01-2009, 10:51 AM yes this was the best time of the race seson. the day did not even seem like it was as long as it was time flyes when your having fun. 4 rounds and time triles too. looking forward to more great racing at BFG
grunt66 03-01-2009, 11:01 AM Turn left and go fast that was the call of the day at BFG. Some of the best and fastes oval racing I've seen. This was my first event in along time and even though I did'nt win I had a blast this event was awesome. thanks to the guys at Fatal Impact for your help I know that most of you dont race oval but you took the time and effort to make this a great event Thank you to BFG for holding this race at a top notch facility you made all that raced more than welcomed to be there. A well run program Congrats to all the winners I will be back to race and have fun.
( C. J. The Walker Wild Man)
Tdevil 03-01-2009, 12:27 PM My thanks goes to everyone that comes out and supports our oval racing program week in and week out and attended this event. When we asked about putting the oval in two years ago, I don't think anyone envisioned the support that we have received from you, the racers.
I will give special thanks to Steve and Butch for planning and organizing the event. Butch has been passionate about oval racing for as long as I can remember and Steve sure shares that passion. Thanks guys for making my life easier.
My thanks to Duke and the Raceplex also for the generous donations to the program. I have seen how serious Duke is about promoting oval racing in the area and his efforts are appreciated. Stay tuned, there are some things in the works that I think will make for a very exciting summer season here at BFG and at the Raceplex.
Lastly, can't forget Revo. Jason came down sick yesterday and with Revo on the mic I was able to keep results posted and deal with any situations that arose (not that there were many of those.)
Thanks again to everyone!!!!!!!!!
REVO-Beat-U 03-01-2009, 10:24 PM Thanks guys, but the real thanks should go to all the racers. You all made my job easy. You were all ready to race at the correct times, and you were all out to marshal quickly. You all made the day easy, all I did is boss you around.
Lots of fun racing to watch that's for sure. Now I know why I don't try to run oval, you guys would kick my butt.
I do agree though, for running a qualifying round, four heat races and the mains we were done is less than 9 hours. Simply amazing guys. Thanks to all those who came out to race, you guys are the reason the event was a success! :woohoo:
sbrady#0 03-02-2009, 10:55 PM Revo we where all ready becauce you kept us up on what was going on. and let the guys on the stand know where the crashes where at but there was some great racing all day long

Felt easy to me, but I am glad it went so well. Speaking of the crashes, holy crap, half the time I was able to only get "Loo....." out of my mouth before someone else crashed. You guys were going so damn fast it was hard to give you enough warning.
420 Tech R/C 03-03-2009, 10:02 AM Yeah I went deep in the corner a few time trying to keep an eye down the next straight to see if moose was sittin spun out somewhere. He needs to let me have that sprinter of his for a week, and he wont have those issues anymore.Scott is right though, when you were able to get it out there before another wreck happened it helped a ton!

kzoolou 03-04-2009, 10:26 AM Thank you Duck! Other than the time I tried running my truck on it's lid and the part where I slid wide into Sam at the end, costing him third place, that was a great race. It's too bad Curt bowed out early, he had the fastest truck all day long.
el camino 03-05-2009, 08:50 AM I looked ahead to the next corner for just a split second and now I kick myself for it.lol dohh! I had a lot of fun and I think that was the smoothest race I've been to. I ran 3 classes and still had time for stuff and the track had good traction after the time trials to the point where I didn't have to clean my tires before each race. awesome!
LOSI_Duck 03-05-2009, 09:45 AM Hey I should be the one kicking myself, I got to look at the video of my main and wow did I get tagged to lose my battery the first time, but not knowing I had lost the clip to hold the battery down when I swerved to miss the Moose in the middle of the track going sideways was my biggest blunder as I clipped the broken piece of clay and to watch my car tumble in slow motion was pure torture. Oh Well I had a blast and would do it all over again.
