Tdevil 02-03-2009, 04:06 PM More breaking news.....
The Slashes are in for the ROAR event. We at BFG have been strong supporters of this class and after giving it consideration I have asked that it be included for this weekend as it was for the Region 5 race. It is another opportunity to highlight the support of our local racers (and those coming just for this event) for this class which is helping to bring more racers into the hobby.
We will run only the "stock" spec class. This means that the only changes allowed are receiver, speed control, shock oil, preload spacers and either the 18 or 23 tooth pinion that comes with (nothing in between.) Everything else must be box stock.
Slashes will be run 8 to a heat and trophies will be awarded only in heats that have a full grid of 8 for the main. For example if there are 3 heats of 8, 8 and 4, trophies would be given out in only the A and B.
If you got 'em bring 'em. Run it as a second class or if it is all you got, bring it on.
Same as for all classes ROAR membership will be required to participate in Saturday's
program.
Sorry to make this a last minute addition, but I just didn't feel right not including them.
Tdevil 02-03-2009, 04:20 PM Some details regarding the club race to be held Friday, February 6 at 8:00 p.m. as a part of the ROAR event:
2 heats and the mains.
You do not have to be registered for or racing in the ROAR event to race Friday night.
A ROAR membership is not required to race Friday night.
$10 for first class/$5 for second class if not registered for the ROAR event.
$5 per class if registered for the ROAR event.
Minimum of 5 vehicles to make a class.
dasupacat 02-03-2009, 05:56 PM Do we need to bring tables, chairs, etc.? I know there was room inside at the last roar event, but many were also pitting outside.

I am going to bring a couple tables and chairs just in case...

If you have tables and can bring them that would be great. We should have plenty of chairs and plenty of room to set up extra tables. We can get 48 people at the existing tables if everyone sits 4 to a 4x8 table.
Uncle E 02-03-2009, 10:23 PM Shhhhh.... they don't want it to be a 12 hour race ;)
You make me laugh, had a great time pitting next to you at the slash bash. What a riot!
Hey post something to me for your 9000 post. I'm catching up.

hankster 02-03-2009, 11:03 PM Just givin' revo a hard time. Can't run a big race without someone giving you a hard time ;) I wasn't going to come to the race because I'm not running stadium track this winter. I'll be there to run both Slash and 8th scale since they will both be run.
REVO-Beat-U 02-04-2009, 12:14 AM Just a heads up for everyone, with the race only days away Craig at Sidetrax has come through again for us. He has Bar Codes in stock for the buggies! They have been on back order everywhere for weeks. If you need them, I suggest you run down and grab a set real quick because they wont last long. Thanks Craig!

1/8th scale and Slash classes are now open for this event......................TO EVERYONE EXCEPT HANK!
And I am still bringing that towel for you to cry in.
hankster 02-04-2009, 01:16 AM Pzzzzzzzzz
420 Tech R/C 02-04-2009, 11:15 AM SWEET! 1/8 and slash added, this may end up being a 12 hr race day.
hankster 02-04-2009, 12:15 PM I just happened to look at the flier. It doesn't say when registration opens and racing starts.
REVO-Beat-U 02-04-2009, 12:40 PM I just happened to look at the flier. It doesn't say when registration opens and racing starts.
Nope, we didnt have times set when we made up the flier so you are correct. But if you look in this thread and in the BFG thread we have been posted those times.
REVO-Beat-U 02-04-2009, 12:42 PM I figured your next question would be, well what did those posts say right? So here it is:
Thurs. 5-9 Off-Road Practice
Friday Noon - 8 ROAR Off-Road Practice
Friday 8:00 - ? 2 heats and a main club race ($10 race fee/ $5 if you are registered for the ROAR race/ $5 for additional classes)
Saturday doors open at 7:00 a.m. for the ROAR event
Sunday 11-7 Off-Road Practice
hankster 02-04-2009, 01:56 PM I seen that. OK, doors open at 7am. When does registration open/close and when do the races start? I mean if the races don't start until 11am, I don't want to get there at 7. It's doubtful I'll practice so no use getting there more then an hour before the races start.
dasupacat 02-04-2009, 04:25 PM Is the race gonna be run with a dry or wet track. Does it hold moisture well?

I believe we planned on a 9:00AM start for the races. I will need to verify that tonight and get back to you.

There will be a "very light" wattering between rounds. If we let the indoor track dry out, it gets super slick. We have been doing this all winter so we have a good system down for it. We also sweep the track between rounds. Plan on having good traction.
REVO-Beat-U 02-05-2009, 09:11 AM Just a few quick reminders for everyone. We have pit space for about 50 people in the main pit area. We will have several other tables set up in a secondary area. If you have a small table and an extension cord it may be worth while to bring them with, just in case.
This is a ROAR race, YOU must bring proof of your ROAR membership with you. If you do not have your ROAR membership card with you at the time of check in, you will be required to purchase a ROAR membership before you will be allowed to race, sorry no acceptions.
Friday the doors open at Noon for open practice. At 8:00PM there will be a club race, 2 qualifiers and a main. Cost for this event is $10 for the first class / $5 for each additional. If you are registered for the ROAR event on Saturday your discounted rate for this race is $5 for the first class / $5 for each additional class.
Saturday the doors open at 7:00AM and racing will start promptly at 9:00AM. Cost for this event is $25 for the first class / $15 for each additional class.
Weather report for Friday and Saturday is temps between 35 and 45 degrees with a 30% chance of rain. Travel should be decent for anyone making the road trip to come race. We look forward to seeing everyone come out. The word I am getting is we are expecting a good size group of top level talent from this region, should make for some great racing. See everyone real soon.
