swtour 11-19-2008, 02:48 PM ...at least I'm not the only one who keeps track of polling data... the problem with it is...it's just a very small sample of the ACTUAL racers making up the country
The SILENT Majority still doesn't come online much...
Out of the 120 or so racers I deal with only about 25 of them are online (on message boards) if that number is true across the country - there are a LOT of guys who don't even know HobbyTalk exists....and know NOTHING about this world...
Hays Jr 11-19-2008, 03:10 PM Joe,
I agree I think alot of times people think that the only oval racers left are the ones who read these boards. Who knew there is oval racers in Washington, North Dakota or Montana.
casper60 11-19-2008, 03:16 PM Montana's oval population includes a healthy amount of bovine participants, can we actually include them? their lack of participation on the forums could mainly derive from the difficulty of typing with hoofs.
swtour 11-19-2008, 03:18 PM Plus I just talked to a guy in Wyoming who's trying to get some OVAL started...just last week.
Some of those guys do have ONE or TWO who look here for guidance, but don't speak up too often (like some of us who are very vocal)
A lot of the subjects I bring up, or defend are not always MY positions...but done as an advocate based on something from ONE or MORE of the guys I talk with and who participate in my events.
I'm one of those guys who will race anything...virtually anywhere, if it means I get to race. I don't personally really care...
I do however care about GREAT competitiion - THE Best Racing possible... and I have to say, this years class structure with stiff limitations was probably THE BEST year of competition I've ever seen, if not #1, very very close...
katf1sh 11-19-2008, 07:44 PM you missed the besy one of them all...
"is this cheating"
ok wait i'm a lil biased lol
THE DARKSIDE 11-20-2008, 03:57 PM Plus I just talked to a guy in Wyoming who's trying to get some OVAL started...just last week.
There is pretty sweet banked asphalt oval in Riverton, Wyoming, probably about 180' runline, 20 degrees of banking. Ran road course there once, never an oval event though

swtour 11-20-2008, 04:08 PM -E,
That may be the same place...the guy said the place is SWEEET
It's been as long since I've been to Wyoming..as it has since I was in CO. Wow how time flies (Last time I was in CO, I think my 21 year old daughter was 2 1/2.)
Team T2C 11-20-2008, 11:37 PM i like this one

swtour 11-20-2008, 11:56 PM That's FREDDIES in Ravena(spelling?) Ohio, if the track is what you are talking about.
I wish we had THAT track somewhere within 200 miles of where I am...
That track I believe is just over a year old, but has/had a real bad struggle getting 1/10th scale guys to show up (from what I remember reading)
I think there were issues over CAP vs FOAM tires, among other things...
I hope their Q-Scale is doing well...it sucks that suck an AWESOME track to run 1/10th scale on - has to deal with issues.
Team T2C 11-21-2008, 12:04 AM That has to be tricky Foams verses Caps. I do not know, it has been awhile for me so technology may have changed. But Foams would last back then, not sure now. Or maybe it is better.
I watched alot of the 1/4 scale racing on you tube ;Dirt late model, Sotck car. That is some real good racing. They are Slower but i see them bump drafting in stock car. And In the Dirt oval it is even more interesting watching them go door to door for 40 laps.
swtour 11-21-2008, 01:42 AM There's several awesome 1/4 scale tracks...
Phoenix AZ has one - and so does Boulder City Nevada (just outside VEGAS) and theres a fairly new one in RIVERSIDE CA.
I've hosted 1/10th scale events at the track in Boulder...and OMG it's an awesome facility...
