FLOYDFROG 11-14-2008, 10:30 PM Is it just me or do the step-side trucks look as if the bed slopes downward to the rear.... JL trucks are the same way??
macnut 11-14-2008, 11:15 PM That's a nice looking set. Great pics Russ.

I thought the same thing.
The windshield looks too big on the Galaxie but it may just be the angle of the photo.
harristotle 11-15-2008, 01:54 AM I love that Galaxie! Russ, the dioramas for the pictures are awesome
1976Cordoba 11-15-2008, 11:46 AM Like them all actually. :)
Lummox 11-15-2008, 11:59 AM I thought the same thing.

The truck bed looks a little slanty to me too.
I noticed the Galakzie windshield too.
I don't know if its too tall or it just ain't fitting right...not laying back where it's supposed to.
Looking foward to a roof for the Galaxie!
Superbird77 11-15-2008, 12:58 PM Great presentation Russ, very nice dioramas.
farmer64th 11-15-2008, 01:42 PM Russ you are killing me. I need to have the Dodge pickups. I zam going to have to push hard on my ebay sales to get some. Thanks for the pictures.

You are right on both counts, the Dodge trucks beds are droopy in the rear and teh windshield on the Galaxie sits up too tall. I found both of these issues on the examples I saw at TRU yesterday. The other curious thing was with the Chevelle. I picked up one of these at TRU even though I have one coming from Russ @ Milezones, so I could "restore" it because I really like the color combination of the turquoise and white. It is much the same as my 69 Impala. Anyway, the side trim seems to be for an SS, the rear cove area and front grille would indicate a Malibu, but the rear 1/4 shows a 300 Deluxe style emblem. Chevy never produced a 65 300 Deluxe Coupe, only a 2 door sedan and four door sedan. The first 300 Deluxe coupe was a 68.I'm confused.....

I like that you know you're stuff about cars. Very few people have this amount of knowlage of models, body designations and trim etc.
A real 1:1 PIP Coupe might have 300 Sedan trim on the nose or trunk lid only.
This sort of thing might seem trivial to most, but to us hard-core car dorks it's either right or it's wrong!

Thanks, you are pretty knowledgeable as well. You are right, the 300 trim would only be on the front or trunklid. In trying to "restore" the example I bought for this purpose, I found that the hood has no turquoise paint underneath so, I'll have to try to find a matching color for the hood. I had figured that the entire casting was turquoise with tthe flat black over the hood and fender, and the yellow over the right door but for some reason, not so on the hood.
Lummox 11-18-2008, 12:13 PM ...but for some reason, not so on the hood.
I think the reason is hoods are usually painted separate from the rest of the casting.
Good luck with the "restoration". Could be a tough color to match.
You might try Napa. If you can get the paint code or the origonal paint name, they can mix most colors into a spray bomb.
If the casting is big enough (it may not be), they can also take a digital "read" of the casting itself.
Some of the guys at the customizing board are better with paint ideas than me if that doesn't work. You probably know what your doing anyway...
robertwadehall 11-22-2008, 01:35 PM Mine came yesterday from MZ along w/ the Black Bandit Mopies. They are pretty sweet..one of mine is has a neat error--the package says '65 Dodge D100, but the car is the '65 Chevelle.
I'm really liking the County Roads set--the detailing is excellent--the grille and taillight detail on the Ford, the Road Runner, the Chevelle... the Dodge trucks are a great addition to GL's tool set, IMHO.

Thanks for the tip. I am going to try using paint from my 69 Impala, which is code 55 Azure Turquoise and see if it is close.

on the short beds they do actually slope down a bit but on the blue long bed it's straight all the way across.
