Hi Skip,
Cool link, looks like we only have three out of those covered so far. Wow - at least there is always plenty more to make right? :)
I especially like the ARI/Pace Cars and the Twister Special. Now about that Vista Blue GT/CS vert, well we just did a red GT/CS vert in 2-Packs Series 2, did you see that one? Sorry it wasn't blue though, metallic red. But it is a really sharp looking car.

This would be absolutely awesome!
Especially the Twister Special. GL could do the original Twister Special and the new one just like they did with the GT/CS.
ranchero 11-13-2008, 03:25 PM Thanks for that link to the great information on the Mustang specials. It was an informative piece on a subject about which I knew little.
I learned to drive on a '66 Sprint. I currently own a special Mustang - an '08 Bullitt.
Denver DSO seems to have been very active throughout the years; they were quite creative and I found it interesting that they helped out by making some CS cars from San Jose factory into another HCS.
I see a '72 Sprint/USA from time to time in town; it is a well used coupe.

macnut 11-13-2008, 03:43 PM That would be a good thing for the Mustang nuts. Go for it Green Light.

Hi Matt:
Yes, I saw the "Redfire" GT/CS vert in the 2-packs series. It looks great. Ever since GL came out with that casting I have been hoping for a Vista Blue version because I own an '07 GT/CS vert in that color. So, you will see me leaving words of encouragement for that variation from time to time. It may become annoying to some, but I don't care ;)
As far as the Mustang specials are concerned, so far you have done the GT/CS and the Blue Bonnet special. What is the third one that was done? The High Country Special promotional car?
jefferson 11-13-2008, 06:13 PM i'm really digg'n that '68 Cali Special.... is that not the one that came out a while back in the same green color with black rims?
robertwadehall 11-13-2008, 10:52 PM Great info...never heard of many of those. I knew about the High Country Special, but not the Ski Country Special (of course, that was 30 years before I moved to Colorado, and before I was born).
Speaking of Mustangs, I've gone to the Rocky Mountain Mustang Roundup in Steamboat Springs a couple of times...lots of fun. Hope to go again next year.

edseldave 11-13-2008, 11:47 PM I'd love to see the '67 Sports Sprint coupe in Dk Blue . My sister owns one !! I also would like a '06 GT coupe in bright yellow with shelby stripes to replicate my daily driver !

Finally got a hold of the GL '67 Blue Bonnet special coupe. Awesome job!. I love the authenticity of the interior color. Those new wheels look great. The styling looks dead on and the thinner profile looks much more realistic. Do you think the Magnum 500 wheels will get the same treatment in the future?

What series is this car in? Is it a UTH special? I seem to remember seeing a Mustang w/ a wierd badge that I never could figure out what it was. Bet it was this car.

It just came out in the latest MCG Hobby series:

I also just received the latest Mustang Factory 2-Pack. They used the same wheels on the '67 vert. Again, the wheels look excellent on this casting. Correct and properly proportioned wheels make a world of difference on these little models. I'm really glad to see it coming around. I'm seeing some wheels swaps in the future. Too bad that these wheels don't come off as easy as the JL's.
BTW. The '67 vert casting is beautiful. I hope to see this one in a few other colors than Springtime Yellow.

A '68 GT convertible in black /w red interior would be great...I see Franklin Mint has come out with one in 1:24th in those colors.
GT350H 11-22-2008, 04:59 AM That's it sd64. I found it after I posted. Thanks.
twitch43 12-12-2008, 07:52 AM That would be awesome

Yes, we have definitely discussed making a Magnum 500 style wheel to fit this smaller tire. It is on our list of projects - just have to fit it into the timing and budget. But look for it sometime in 2009 for sure.

Matt:
That is great. This is going to make a huge difference in the overall look of the cars
Just reviving an old thread here....
M2's recent addidtion the 1970 Twister Special Mustang got me thinking about the topic again.
I know GL is planning to release a 1:64 1970 Mustang casting. This opens the door to do several Special Mustangs from that year including the Twister Special, Sidewinder Special, Grabber Special (also done by M2) and the ARI Pace cars (one of these was done by JL). Although a couple of these were already done, I'd like to see them done to GL's 1:64 scale.
I'd also like to see more of the Mustang Specals done with castings that have already been released. there are quite a few to do. One I haven't been able to pick up yet is the 1:64 High Country special that was released in the Resto-rides tow pack. Any chance there will be more releases of the High Country Special in 1:64.
One final request.... This doesn't really fall under the Mustang Specials category but I'd really like to see the 1968 Fastback done in a 428 Cobra jet (With black stripe on hood).

I would love an all white one with Foulgar Ford and Georgia Shaker plastered on the side.
