The French "Editions Atlas" is launching a range of reproductions of French Dinky Toys.

They are available only by subscription.

The first model is the Citroën DS 19 #24CP which sales for only 2,99 euros (and even free if you decide to keep it and to sign up for the 2nd model, the '61 Citroën 2CV)

As you can see on the box, they are imported in France by Norev and they have a Mattel copyright

That certainly looks exactly like the original casting.

It is amazing that the Dinky/France dies were still available and that they were transported to China to reproduce this toy. Do you believe the original tooling was used? Or is this possibly new tooling copied from an old toy?

This reminds me of the reproduction Quiralu models which were reissued using the original dies. The Dinky/France toys are a lot more desirable!

Wish we could get this stuff in USA but it will likely only be found on E-Bay for $50.

Is the marche aux puces on the north side of Paris still a good place to look for old toy cars?

I think it's a new tooling. I'm not an expert but I know that companies such as Roland offer 3D laser scanners and milling machines : just what you need to copy a model and make a mould out of it...

Actually Norev is reussing CIJ and made an annoucement about reuissing Spot-On... And a model shop in Paris offer repros of Dinkys and Quiralu : have a look (http://www.dan-toys.net/article.php?where=rubrique&cond=201&debut=1)!

Le Marché aux Puces is still there, but prices for old toys are very high... There are so many swapmeets and diecast shows all over Europe where you cand find near everything. But the top place to buy Dinkys is the Collectoys Auction held in Bourges, France.

db43: Thanks for the reply.

I'll be going to Retromobile sometime - having already gone to Essen once. I am sure there will be plenty of 1/43 models there.

Some of the reissues look outstanding.
