Smokin' Joes RC Raceway Opens in Jonesboro Arkansas!!!!!
Finally, a new indoor carpet OVAL racing facility will open for racing on November 1, 2008. This facility is located at 1712 suite F Old Greensboro Road (Hwy 351) in Jonesboro, AR. For those that know the Jonesboro area, the facility is in the Hilltop area. Directions to follow for those that are from out of town.
The dimensions of the racing surface are; 30’ wide and 50’ long. The turns are approx 9’ wide with the straights approx 13’ wide.
The classes we will be running will include but are not limited to:
1/12 scale stock, 17.5 BL motor with 4cell batteries. Tires: Foam
1/18 Losi Ready to Run Late model, this class is a run out of the box class which means there are NO modifications allowed on this car, with the exception if one needs to replace the battery connectors with that same type of connector that are on your battery charger. The tire rules for this class are to use the tires that are on the car when purchased. There will not be any tire compound added to these tires in this class. The tires that come with this car will provide plenty or grip without adding the tire compound. All of the electronics must remain the stock parts, this includes the transmitter that is also sold with this car. The Body must remain the losi 18th scale dirt late model body.
If there are any other modifications to this car except for the above mentioned modification then you will be bumped up to the Modified class. Examples of modifications, changing the motor to a different brand than the model that is supplied with the car when the car was purchased, change the ball caps or any of the links to the titanium units, different batteries other than the Losi battery that comes with the car. This doesn’t mean that you cannot replace the motor but there are no modifications allowed to this motor. The brushes and springs on the motor MUST remain STOCK.
Mini class
TT-01 Tires: rubber, Sweeps from MuchMore
This track is a small track and I do not think the 10th scale TC cars will be able to put on a good race that everyone that is in the race will enjoy very much, with that said, if anyone wants to run the 10th scale TC then there will be a motor restriction to the 17.5 BL and tires will be the rubber tires, no foam tires. If there are three entries for any class then we will race them. The races will not be more than 5 in the 10th scale class and the 12th and 18th scale may be 6 to 8 cars. This is to make the racing experience as enjoyable as possible for all involved.
Entry Fee: the first class $15.00 and each additional class will be $8.00
Pits: This building is only 50’ wide and 60’ deep; there are only approx 24 available pit spots inside the building. I have purchased 10 4’ x 8’ tables that will be used for pitting surface. Each pit space will comprise of a 4’x 4’ space, so one-half of the table is one pit spot. There are some pit spots available if someone wants to bring a 4’ table but these pit spots are very limited. If one wants to purchase a designated pit location to ensure that you will have the same pit location every time, then these spots will rent for $75.00 each. This rental will run from November 2008 to November 2009. With this rental purchase, the night you purchase the pit spot, you will race that evening, in one class, for free. That is a $15.00 savings right off the bat!
Tire Compounds: For the classes that will use tire compound, there will only be two allowed brands. Paragon and Grip Daddy will be the compounds of choice.
Race Schedule: We will be racing at least two Saturday’s a month. The facility will open around 10AM on the Saturday of the races. To practice on this day one will need to register and pay the entry fee for the class or classes they intend to race in on Saturday evening. The races will start approx. 7PM to 7:30PM. The track will be open at least one night during the month for paid practice, we will post these times as they are determined. If there is a need to open up for practice more than once a month then if there are at least 8 to 10 racers that want to practice then I will open up the facility for practice.
On race evenings there will be sodas chips and candy for sale also there will be hotdogs and cheese nachos with jalapenos, if anyone wants to have a snack during the evening.
There will also be the approved tire compound and motor spray for sale.
Again this racing facility is intended as a place for everyone to enjoy themselves and to provide some good entertainment and practice during the winter months for the hardcore racers and the part time racers alike.
Let the racin’ begin!
