I would like to replace my NIMH batteries with a Lipo, my question is what should I look for to run "4 cell" oval pan car? Any help would be much appreciated as I am an oldie for oval racing but newbie to Lipo's?

What 4 cell Oval Pan Car class are you running?

If you are/were running 4 cell STOCK (27t Brushed) there isn't really a LIPO equivilant.

The current most popular class with the LIPO is probably universally the new 21.5/LIPO class. It runs closer to 4 cell 19t though.

It's a bit easier to drive than the 4 cell 19t was, because it has LESS rip off the line, but it keeps it's momentum going and rolls faster.

There is some work being done to create some type of SINGLE CELL Lipo class, but those who are working on that - have a lot more testing I believe.

CHECK with Your track -- if they are running lipo. We use the ORION 3200 Lipo for the 08 season for OUR series, but will be switching to the ORION 3400 in '09. The BRL is using the SMC 3200 I believe, and other places are using ANY Hard Cased Lipo 3400 and lower...

LIPO is cool, easy and clean. Treat them right and they work really well.

If you're running 10.5/4 cell, the 17.5/LIPO is a perfect replacement. They are almost identical in speed, and similar to the 21.5/lipo class the 17.5 feels softer..but doesn't show up in lap times.

When we were testing and putting the 17.5 class together last year, and early this year...we allowed those two classes to run together...and they were so very close. DRIVERS made a bigger difference than the motor/battery combo did, and when the SAME driver ran both - the 5 minute RUNS were nearly identical. The two combos DID run a slightly different discharge curve, but the end result was too close to call one better normally.

In the long run - the LIPO's won out...cause they took so much less effort to be consistant...

I just bought a 3800 from Fantom, I am guessing this will be okay?

...as long as it's legal where you race....it's fine
