Hello Guy's new to the Forum and figured it might be a good place to find some info on my old leaf blower. The engine is a Briggs and Stratton Md 130212 It had been sitting in a trailer for many years and what I typically do with old engines is go through the carburetor and clean up the rust off of the fly wheel. well I did all of this and it has no spark? the contact between the coil looks good? I'm not sure what is causing the problem? Does anyone have a repair manual??Any help would be appreciated

Well there could be several reasons for no spark. Could be your switch on the leaf blower is corroded or not working properly. If it has grounding wires (Part of your switch) to turn the engine off it could be one of them is shorting out. Could be a junk spark plug. If it is just the engine it could also be of several reasons;
Sheared flywheel key (breaker points only)
Incorrect breaker point gap (when so equipped)
Dirty or burned breaker points (when so equipped)
Breaker plunger stuck or worn (when so equipped)
Shorted ground wire (when so equipped / Already noted this)
Shorted stop switch (when so equipped / Already noted this)
Condenser failure (breaker points only)
Incorrect armature air gap
Armature failure
Didn't get your type number so not alot more I can give you but the basics. I guess I would start to look at the switch and shorting wires unless you have it still broken down. If it has points then take a good look at that, make note there not pitted and are gapped properly and wire hooked up. Also, when your in that deep, (If it has points) check to make sure there opening and closing. Personally if it has points I would change them and the condensor to illiminate this problem. When you put the armature on make sure you gap it correctly and hook up your little wire. Then check the switch and shorting wires on the unit. Use a multimeter to check for broken shorting wire and the switch. Take baby steps and check everything electrical.
