View Full Version : Early info regarding the 2009 Keystone Diecast Carnival
CenterShock 11-06-2008, 02:49 PM Hello all! I finally got confirmation from the hotel so I can release some info regarding the next Keystone Diecast Carnival!
The date will be April 18th & 19th! Yes, I got the room all day on Saturday the 18th and half of the day on Sunday the 19th!
I have a block of rooms set aside for those of you that are coming from a distance for an awesome rate of $59.00 a night! The rates are good for both Friday night and Saturday night and if you wish to come earlier or stay later we can probably extend that rate for your stay.
All you have to do is ask the receptionist to give you the DCM (Die Cast Meeting) rate or tell them you are booking for the Keystone Diecast CARnival.
You have to call the hotel direct at (717)336-7541 to book reservations. The toll free number at 1-800-HOLIDAY can not see the special rate.
Here is a link to the hotel website. From here you can find plenty of local attractions along with the hotel accomidations.
Holiday Inn of Lancaster County (http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hotel/eprpa?_requestid=373356)
If you call to make reservations and woman named Joanne answers, be nice. That is my mother and she is the one that is helping make this all possible. (I am just kidding by the way. I am sure you would all be nice.)
I will post more info as it is available!

One of those messages was from me. And for those of us who observe it, Nick, April 5th is Palm Sunday...

the question is do you remember talking about the seminar with the motivational speaker you missed:drunk:! You better be there!
DadsCoronet 11-11-2008, 01:14 PM So Nick, what's the word? Is KDC standing at the 4th and 5th? Please consider a weekend after Easter if there are any available at the hotel.
CenterShock 11-20-2008, 12:50 AM OK guys. Sorry for the poor response here. I have been out of it for a while.
I spoke to the hotel and we moved the weekend to the 17th, 18th & 19th of APRIL.
rattlehed 11-20-2008, 08:31 AM Cool Beans!!!
STUTZ 11-21-2008, 03:01 AM Looking forward to it!
MudSlinger 12-20-2008, 09:06 PM I am really gonna try and make it this year. $59 a night for the hotel is not bad at all! Got any info on the hotel so I can book a room?
rattlehed 01-07-2009, 10:01 AM Keep this up. The date will be here before we know it. Can't wait!

u better make it! Split a room with someone here and its only $30 a night!
PWSchuh 01-07-2009, 02:08 PM I will try to make it up for this one too. It's only a few hours drive from home and I won't need to stay overnight. Might even get a table if I can come up with enough things to sell.
Do you think people will pretty much just go for JL, GL, HW, NASCAR stuff at this event or are they likely to bite on the more unusual (foreign or 1/43rd, etc.)??
bvis75 01-07-2009, 03:34 PM Planing on going along with some friends and Family.
MudSlinger 01-08-2009, 12:54 PM u better make it! Split a room with someone here and its only $30 a night!
I really want to, my wife may even go and take my kids to sight see in Pennsylvania while I play with little toy cars. But I need the hotel info so I can make a reservation!
MicrobusMan 01-08-2009, 07:03 PM Please see: http://swiftysgarage.net/topic/6524619/1/
As for abnormal/foreign stuff- go for it. Several collectors will be there that love those kinds of cars.

keep a simple mix at reasonable prices and be open to trades.
TRADES! WE NEED TRADES!

Sorry, I tried a while back to sign up at swiftys garage, I was told I had to wait for approval, which never came. Now I am no longer interested in becoming a member there, and if this is going to be a swiftys garage event, I am no longer interested in going to it either.
Sorry Pierre, guess we'll just have to meet up this spring for some wheelin.

This is very true. I bought as many cars as I could, only because I have pretty much crap in terms of traders. Hopefully I can make it this year, but I've got a lot of things to take care of between now and then, including a potential move at some point. Keeping my options open though...a lot can happen over the next few months.
Swifty 01-09-2009, 06:31 AM Sorry, I tried a while back to sign up at swiftys garage, I was told I had to wait for approval, which never came. Now I am no longer interested in becoming a member there, and if this is going to be a swiftys garage event, I am no longer interested in going to it either.
I would like to express my apologies that your experience with Swifty’s Garage was sour. It was a board glitch, and most definitely not an insult directed at you. I wouldn’t be surprised if others had the same problem. I can understand where you’re coming from- I wouldn't be happy either. While it’s little consolation, the issue regarding account validations has since been resolved. The best I can do is to apologize, assure you that the error has been fixed, and personally extend to you an invitation to join the Garage. I really do hope you’ll give us another chance.
Unfortunately, the reason we needed to start having all new accounts validated in the first place was due to an increasing number of spam accounts registering. We dealt with it for a little while, but when the porn spammers showed up I was forced to take action. As much as I hated to do it, it was the only way to keep my board clean. The same thing happened with JL Talk as well (both spammers and account validations). The good news was once we upgraded from Invisionfree to Zetaboards the spammers stopped registering, and I removed the account validation procedures a month ago once the issue was brought to my attention.
Also, I want to emphasize that the Keystone CARnival is not a Swifty’s Garage event. The Garage is affiliated with both the CARnival and AutoFest but neither show is limited to one board. I would hate for you to decide not to attend simply on the basis of associating the CARnival with the Garage.
For those looking for info, the CARnival will be at the Holiday Inn of Lancaster County in Denver, Pennsylvania on April 17th-19th.
rattlehed 01-09-2009, 07:18 AM CU There!

OK, thanks for the warning. I guess this is not an event for me then. I can't trade for anything because there's not really anything out there on the market that I want.

I know this is really not my place but you might want to try swifty's garage again. I know that Sean is a great guy and would not snub anybody. His site is a great place to go to get information like you find here. His affiliation with Keystone and autofest shows the dedication to the hobby that we all love. PS he also like Air Supply (Who is in concert near here soon)

Hey Pierre......Do you still want those raw metal sneakers that I found?:dude:
To those that attended last year, the event will be very much along the same lines, although not as rushed. To anyone considering coming this year, there will be tables available for selling and trading, but this is NOT a flea market atmosphere. Table reservations are suggested and any leftover tables are first come, first served. Tables can be reserved by contacting CenterShock at shock@ptd.net. We will have the meeting room for Saturday, and Sunday. The emphasis on this event is collector fun. There will be room to room trading. We have gravity, and banger racing tracks, with several events to enter. If you want to bring the family, PA Dutch country has pretty much to offer, historic sites, shopping, etc.
We are considering a family style dinner Saturday night, at the club where we held the evening event last year. We need a show of hands to see if there's enough interest to follow up on this. If so, we will get more info out as soon as possible. I can be contacted if anyone has questions.
Rick

It's not ALL about trading. Come on out and put a face to the names you've been talking to on the boards! Guntownal came out last year on his bike! He sure didn't do a lot of trading, but I'm sure he and his lovely wife had a great time.
MUDSLINGER....No excuses. You'd BETTER make it out there too!
Rick, I think I can safely speak for the rest of the East Coast Crew (yeah, those guys like to eat!) Count us in for the dinner.

Hey!! I resemble that remark!!:D
Is it April yet??:freak:
Koolector 01-13-2009, 03:34 PM I'm not sure I'll be able to make it this year. I'm currently working 5P- 5A .I have been told that Fridays are going to be required. It is also the weekend of my daughters 18th B-day. It would be nice to drop in again but it's not looking good at this time. Hope you all enjoy yourselves:) Chuck.
CenterShock 01-13-2009, 05:51 PM Hey all, getting amped about the CARnival? I am! We are working on a Greenlight event car this year that should be hot and also a cool evening car as well. As you have probably noticed, I have not been to active on the boards. I have not been into diecast all that much lately but as most of you know, onr of my favorite parts about the hobby was the fellowship among us collectors so I am stoked to see some old friends and hopefully meet some new faces!
I know that one question that a lot of you have is hotel accomidations. Well, here is some info that should help you out....
