I Was Buying Some Stuff From Rc4less Last Night One Thing That I Was Buying Was Tires. I Always New That There Were Exotic Foam Tires And Natural Foam Tires But I Always Just Thought That The Shore Rating On The Exotics Were Way Different Than The Shore Ratings On The Natural Tires.. But The Shore Rating Is Exactly The Same So Is There And Benefits To The Naturals Over The Exotics Or Vice Versa. And Why Does No One Run Exotics On Asphalt.. Any Help Would Be Great Thanks

Natural wear a lot less than exotics.

Exotics where faster than natural, but part of that due to the fact they grip better than naturals of the same durometer.

I must be lost to too. My naturals wear slower than the exotics. Isn't exotic foam less dense, less grippy/gummy and prone to wear and chunk faster?

They may have the same hardness (durometer), but the grip better and wear faster.

Example: BSR green is 30 durometer and so is a pearl. The pearl will grip better because it is exotic and it will also wear faster.

I didn't think the greens and blue were in the natural rubber family. I thought the Pinks, Purples, Orange and Red are the natural rubbers?

I have found the natural need to warm up befor they work well a few laps around the track.Slippery tracks like exotics better. The exotics do ware faster. Most say naturals are faster on the clock.I am talking about carpet racing.

I think there is still alot of confusion, especially from newer racers on What type of foam is what

Green

White

Pink

All duro similar, but a lot of the new guys don't even know what THAT means...all they do know is WOW Tires for RC Cars are expensive. (That's what I hear locally)

....it would be SO COOL if somehow, someway there could be a DECENT WORKING set of Foam Tires available for about $20.00 $25.00 a set....or less.

I think more inexpensive tires could really help KICK "PAN CAR" racing along to new racers easier.

By reading your posts i see that the Rc 4 less site has changed the way they are stating the tires.. Most companies do not list tires by natural or exotic rubber compound. they rate them by foam..rc 4 less has them listed as NATURAL RUBBER FOAM. then the exotics listed as just exotic foam.

natural foam would be green, blue, yellow, i thiunk pearl might be close to a natural foam as well.

exotics would be black, gray, white. these wear better then natural tires, and in some cases seam to be the best middle ground for each class.. They do not get as grippy as the high rubber foam tires.

high rubber content foam tires would be pinks, purples, dbl, trpl, team ect. these tires generally have the most grip not only on carpet but seem to work well on other surfaces like asphalt as well.

The rc 4 less tires as far as i know are GS tires. they are more of a asphalt or nitro based foam. They list there tires as natural and exotic rubber content. These tires work very well on just about any outdoor surface. I have not seen them used on carpet so i am not sure on there capabilities there, but i am sure they can be made to work well..

BSR's Pearl White(Jaco White) is in the same family as White/Gray/Black.

Also something to note, the more rubber content in the tire, the longer they hold their grip. Meaning, a green tire will give up bite as the run goes on, sooner than a white. Whites give up sooner than a Pink. This winds up being a great tuning option if your car changs (tighter/looser) throughout the run.

You can get a set of Jaco fronts for $11 bucks and rears for $14 from Discount RC Tires.

As for Natural vs. Exotic. Natural wears much slower, but can be harder to get hooked up on. Exotic's seem to be much more forgiving, but the tire bill is higher. You can see a list from Jaco here http://discountrctires.com/page/1ha2p/JACO.html .

I can't seem to get pinks and purples to work. The car doesn't feel good to me, but they are only about a second slower? If I could get comfortable with the car then I think they would be faster.

We had a group buy on some JACOs a while back...and everyone who bought them was really disappointed... THE Wheels shattered WAY too easy.

They are a HARD SELL now with our local guys...even for the price.

Yeah, I had a few problems awhile back but I haven't recently. I kept getting beat by them every week, so I tried them and now really like them. Setup is a little different though due to the offset of the wheel.

Just my experience, I have found that on a low bit carpet, new or after sitting for months, that pinks and a purple hook up were the exotics just slide no matter how soft. However, when the track finally bits up to use the exotics, they are usually a lap faster. The rubber tires have almost no wear compared to the exotics.

funny ask Monti or G honey and they will always say pinks and purples no matter what

Yeah, G-Honey kicks our butts every week on pinks and purples. No matter what the track is grip wise
