Once again I have been blessed with some very fine cars - this lot of 23 mint or very near mint cars and 7 catalogs cost me $160 from a local antique dealer who bought them from a police auction as part of a 400 car collection, most of which was Superfast and Corgi Juniors 1975-80,just outside my collecting focus. However there were these gems......the Lesney army vehicles are all in the first run extra dark olive shade from two-packs.
The artwork in the 7 catalogs which date from 1962 is superb, some are a little playworn but I am just very glad to finally own these for myself after many years of wanting them. The gold with yellow seats 69 Rolls has eluded me since childhood (although I have owned a common blue one for most of my life) so this is one of the 2 cars in this lot most wanted by me.The Scorpions Porsche 910 in uncommon magenta rather than the usual lime is also a pleasing find.
Lesneys great rivals are all represented in this lot, with the Corgi Juniors Ironside truck complete with working wheelchair lift, the superb British Corgi Rally Escort with Monti Carlo plates, the French Majorette Fiat 127 with Lesney style dog hanging out of the side window, Best Box of Holland Citroen Dyanne (the only playworn car in the lot),Playart of HongKong Porsche 916 and a HongKong Hotwheels redline Buzz-Off .Aside from a toyfair on December the 7th these are my last planned additions in 2008,and looking back I can say that my collection has gained some superb additions this year to equal the superb 2006 & 2007,and aside from the Playarts bought from ebay USA all found locally at flea markets ,toy collector markets and deals with local collectors
