View Full Version : Carpet Slash?
BIGG-K 11-04-2008, 01:05 PM Dont knock it until you try it. We started racing slashes on carpet a couple of weeks ago at Larry's Performance R/C's in Sterling Heights MI. and man we've been having a ball. Some guys lowerd them, some guys just keep them stock height, either way you've got to drive them. We also keep them STOCK!!! You can change the receiver and lower it using only the parts that came with the truck. And you can change the gearing, if you dare! So if you only have a carpet track, try your Slash on it. You just might start some thing big. We did!
Tdevil 11-04-2008, 06:24 PM Carpet?!?! We don't need no stinkin' carpet!!!! We got indoor dirt!!!!!
Just kidding. I think the Slash is up to running just about anywhere on anything. I believe the carpet track in our area is trying to get folks out to run them.
Just plain fun no matter what you do with them.
The track that I have been racing at has decided to run the Slash on the carpet road course with a jump and so far it looks to be a blast. I was running my Slash vs a Losi Desert Truck and the losi had trouble getting enough taction to pass or keep up with the Slash and actually I had to be very smooth with the Slash (and not overdrive it) or it would traction roll. I was running bone stock with the only thing I did to the Slash was to change to deans connectors and reset the gear mesh (I even left the factory pre-load the same) and it looks like it drew alot of attention with the way the body rolls and looks realistic and hopefully the class really catches on.
Later,
Mark
BIGG-K 11-05-2008, 11:07 AM If you take the shocks apart and put the 8mm limiter thats on all 4 of your preload spacer tree's in the shocks against the pistons, and put 50 to 80 weight oil all the way around, its like driving a big dailed mini cooper. And you wont need the preload spacers any more. It'll still roll if you over drive it but not nearly as much as with the stock set up.
What kind of tires are you running?
Fred Knapp 11-05-2008, 11:35 AM Oh yea,

Stock tires actually work well enough to traction roll if you are not careful.
This page has a lot of videos from the last race at our indoor carpet track including a couple of the Slashes running indoor carpet with jumps:
