This rather basic model dating from the mid 1940's is roughly 1:48th scale. It was a popular model in it's day judging by how many are available now. This one looks as if it has been fire damaged! I am going to pass onto a friend of mine to do it up!

It should look great with a fresh coat of paint.

Cool! I would leave it in this condition. :) It has some...hm how to say it... patina.

Now that is an interesting dilema!
Should it be restored as matchboxtom suggests or should it be left in this condition as suggested by Supertbird77?
Decisions .... decisions!

I'm leaning on preserving it as is. Do you know he story of the fire? It might affect my decision. Either way, it's a very cool piece.

That's one of my favorite 1:1 cars!
I would guess the effect of the paint was caused by two dissimilar non-compatible paints.
If it was caused by heat, the tires would be long gone I would think.
Either way I never restore cars like this. I have many old Lesneys with home-spun brush paint jobs.
Talk about character!!!!!

Hi 69Stang
The dealer I bought this model from says that he was told by the person he got it from that the damage was caused by a bomb! Yeah! The bomb was dropped in WWII and the fire from this missle caused this patina you see here! However, this model is post WWII and yes the above story is interesting but untrue!
I am leaning towards keeping it as it is!
Cheers Chris

Hi Lummox
This model car did not have rubber tyres. The wheels are one piece castings. It was made for the cheap end of the post WWII toy market.
I agree this one has character!
Cheers Chris
