Hey all -

McCullough's Offroad kicked off the indoor season last weekend and has two indoor races under its belt.

Good turnouts were had in electric the last two weeks. We had 14 4wd Modified and 9 2wd Modified in week 2. Not a bad turnout. It should only get better.

We still open the doors at 7am and begin electric racing at 10am. The nitro program follows and normally starts by about 4 with people arriving all afternoon.

Traction is high for those that never visited us. Electric cars generally run slicks made from Pink Taper Pins with some relatively stiff foam. Hot setup seems to be the old Trinity Blue foam. We use buggy grip on the tires. The larger nitro vehicles tend to run a little more pin and are usually seen with taper pins, switches, inside jobs, or things like that.

Check us out at www.mcculloughsrcracing.com. I'm hoping we see some of you this winter. We will be getting around to race at some of our neighboring Ohio and PA tracks. Any questions can be directed here or at our website forum. I'll be keeping an eye on this forum.

Thanks...

Can I run my electric 1/8th buggy with the nitro guys?

Scott - Hope you make it down soon. 4wd Mod is pretty huge right now. I'm going to break mine out next week.

BadAssRevo - I believe in the past they have allowed the electric 1/8 to run with the regular 1/8 scale cars. I can't say I personally believe it's fair to run an electric powered vehicle with no tuning issues and power on demand against nitro powered vehicles, but hey, whatever floats your boat! I think they required the electric vehicles to stop for mandatory timed pit stops. I don't remember how long they electrics had to sit in the pits. Maybe it was only stop and go. Hope to see you there!

Should be a good electric turnout this weekend. Hopefully the nitro crowd picks up as well. The track is pretty nitro friendly right now for a small, indoor track.

Another great electric weekend at McCullough's! We had 14 buggies in both 2wd Modified and 4wd Modified. The 4wd is a ton of fun right now. Lots of different cars represented. We had XXX4, XX4, B44, and Kyosho all represented in the A-main. We're hoping to see some other people stop in and race with us! Tires are easy - Bring the dremel and you can make a set in about a 1/2 hour.

We need a few more Truck Modified racers! Hope to see you all next week!

Well, if you want to come on out and TQ and Win, then show us how it's done! :-) 4wd has been pretty stout lately. The two Kyosho cars in the main have been pretty good. I'm sure they'd be happy to give you a run.

Hey Paul, no need to bring table/chairs/extension cords, they are not needed for the indoor season, only outdoors. There are PLENTY of outlets.

We are having a ROAR electric race on December 13th - FYI.

Is it ROAR legal?

No the Castle motors are not legal due to their design but some ROAR Region directors will allow exceptions if requested by the track owner / race director. This was the case at Glenwood RC in Springville NY this summer for their ROAR race.

This was posted on RCTech by the ROAR regional director that will be attending this race: " I feel that any Mod class should be open when is comes to the speedo/motors. So please let the racers know that they can run the Castle Creation systems."

Another great electric turnout today. Mod truck finally took off due to a free entry for Mod truck. I think that goes for next week too. The deal is you get Mod Truck entry for free with a paid entry in any other electric class. I think there were about 13 or 14 2wd Mod today, a full heat of 4wd mod and a full heat of mod truck - probably about 9 or 10 of each. It's nice to see competitive electric racing relatively big again.

Track conditions were interesting today. I know I ran slicks in truck, but some very worn taper pins in buggy. The buggy was dialed in the main. Too bad I got a bad start. :-(

Good! I've always been a supporter of ROAR. No matter what is said, the ROAR label on a race means something - especially to alot of us "old school" guys...

Glad to hear of the Mod truck free entry, if paid with another entry. That is a great idea! (should be used at some tracks), and has to help with turn-outs in that class a lot!

It was not very long ago over the years, with the electric getting smaller each season, over nitro, and when the 4wd class was the class that needed that kind of free entry promotion to kick up the numbers from having low entry.

Funny how things change over time, and now 2wd & 4wd are pretty competitive and full, with electric racing increasing in entry numbers as of late! That has to be awesome, and lead to great racing!

Things are definitely pretty good right now in electric racing. Pretty much all three mod classes have great support right now. Everybody is running an A-main with at least 9 trucks. Most classes have a B-main.

The ROAR race went very well. We had 26 entries in 2wd Mod, 4wd Mod, and Truck Mod. Everyone had a good time. Next weekend - 12/20 - is the Christmas race! No points series this week. The following week begins the the new mini point series in Mod Truck and Intermediate 1/8 scale.
