View Full Version : new guy needing info
Salt-Man 10-30-2008, 03:06 PM Hi, my name is Rick, I am a 42 year old mechanic and have not messed with matchbox's in years, but a friend of mine races Mud Bogs in a little blue jeep and hands out this little matchbox jeep to the kids that show up at the events for free

but finding them is a real pain, I thought I could contact Mattel and buy them in bulk through them but have hit a wall and am getting nothing back from them? does anyone have any info that may help us out, either where to get these or something similar in bulk and cheap, or where to have something made that looks like his race rig very cheap?

any help will be very much appreciated, thanks..Rick
sschevyman1 10-30-2008, 03:38 PM Matchbox does not make near the amount of cars that Hot Wheels does and there for, they do not have any stored away at the warehouses. These cars are produced in Asia and they are released in waves. They sell all they produce and when they are released. You can try Color Comp in N.J. They produced limited runs of Matchbox cars with specail logos. You can try mboxcommunity.com as well for info.
Salt-Man 10-30-2008, 04:12 PM Thank you, that is exactly the type of info I am needing, so please keep it coming guys, I am totally clueless here. what about Johnny Lightning and other brands?? Thanks again..Rick
jedimario 10-30-2008, 04:28 PM That particular car was released just a couple of months ago. You may or may not still be able to find them at Wal-Mart/Kmart/Target/ect. If you really want it, it would be worth it to check those types of stores, but there's no telling just how many you'll find. You may go to five stores and find none or just to a couple and find 10.
Salt-Man 10-30-2008, 04:33 PM That is exactly what we have been doing, I just thought that there must be an easier way to go about this and buy something similar in bulk, it doesn't have to be that exact one but we are looking for that color blue and a jeep?
dusrusg 10-31-2008, 11:28 AM start checking out Dollar Generals, they tend to get MB shipments a few months after mainline stores like Wal-Mart...
Salt-Man 10-31-2008, 02:21 PM good idea, will do, thanks
FLOYDFROG 10-31-2008, 08:28 PM Yeah, if I were you I'd start checking all the DG stores. They always seem to have a large supply of Matchbox.:)
MVE Collectibles 11-01-2008, 08:41 PM Hi Rick,
As a dealer, I can tell you that what the other responders have told you is correct. The Matchbox 1-100 vehicles are shipped in assortments with usually 1, 2, or 3 of the same model in each assortment. You can contact Mattel to see about possibly doing a special run for you, but these special runs are very expensive given the relatively small amount of vehicles that are produced relative to the regular runs, and there probably is a minimum quantity, that you would probably consider a large amount. In the past you could order a case of just one vehicle, but that is not possible any more. I have at least 4 that I can send you if you want to contact me at the email below for cost and shipping details.
