View Full Version : Indoor Clay Oval at Classic RC Raceways in Akron Ohio
General 10-29-2008, 06:58 PM We already have a very nice track, and I'm wondering what kind of interest there would be if we put a building around it. We already have the material for a pit area we was going to build next season, but what if we put it up now. Would you come?

Todd Putnam 10-30-2008, 10:39 AM Steve,
Dirt oval is growing at an alarming rate. We get 50-60 guys every week for our club races, where we will be lucky to get 15-20 for carpet. In fact, our closest carpet track has just replaced their carpet track with a dirt track, and he has seen more people there building the dirt track than he had racing on his carpet track.
I know there are some other dirt ovals in Ohio, so there may be enough interest to support it.
Good Luck, and be sure to keep us posted...
General 10-30-2008, 10:49 AM Thanks for the reply Todd. I've had alot of people ask me about this and its sounds like something people have been wanting around here for along time. We built a really nice track outside but didn't really get alot of use out of it being so late in the season and all the rain. So as far as that goes I'm thinking it would be nice to inclose it even for the rain days in the summer when the outdoor offroad gets rain out we can simply go inside. Right now I just want to get some more peoples veiws before I go head first once again.

freeloader rob 11-01-2008, 08:38 PM Todd is right. Build the thing so we can take a road trip from NY. In fact it's probably the same distance to the track Todd's talking about as it is to yours so we wil def. make some trips down. Good Luck!

Steve,
Indoor dirt oval within a hours drive? Put that on my Christmas list. Been waiting for one of those for a long time. Good luck if you decide to do it. I'd come and race as much as finances and job schedule will allow.
Take care,
Dale

What? Nobody else wants an indoor dirt oval in Akron!!!!!! Come on you dirt slingers!
Jay W 11-04-2008, 10:37 PM Hi from the Albany NY. area. yes dirt oval racing is growing. indoor is a good thing it should make the track more concistent and less work to maintain, I say should because the track we are working on is not finished.
jsrocket13 11-08-2008, 01:00 PM If you build it we will come atleast a few of us from Wheeling WV when we can get a chance.

my94mustangt 11-20-2008, 12:22 PM I think dirt oval there would do great I race at cbrcr and we been getting 60-70 cars a night! I live an hour away from the track and didnt get home till 2am the other week! It sucks getting home that late but it so awsome to have that big of a turnout for a weekly race! The comment about less work indoors yes it is true but still alot more maint than carpet i bet!!
freeloader rob 11-20-2008, 09:15 PM Actually, once you get an indoor track smooth there's not much maint. As long as there,s always enough heat to keep the track from freezing it's not bad at all.
grunt66 11-24-2008, 10:45 AM We run both offroad and oval indoors in the winter and on race days the place is packed with people alot of the racers drive an hour or more to get here if you want to check us out Battle front gamming and r/c is the place to look for we are in Grand Rapids MI we held the Roar region 5 offroad race this past year and it was a blast
