View Full Version : Chase??
rattlehed 10-29-2008, 02:37 PM I understand that the M2 chase pieces are black w/gold accents. My friend and fellow collector found the Coro at Kmart. Looks nice. Can anyone confirm the facts on this one? Found it at TRU this morning. If it is indeed a chase then how many? Thanks and enjoy!

mama_mia_k 10-29-2008, 05:55 PM Yes, this is the chase car for the Auto-Stretch rods. I don't know how many they made, exactly, but there was one in every master case of 24.
rattlehed 10-29-2008, 08:34 PM According to a thread over at Joe's DS, there are to be less than 400 if I understand correctly. Feel free to add any info/corrections you have, thanks!
rlyoung1 10-29-2008, 08:54 PM In other releases the black and gold chase cars were 1800.
rattlehed 10-29-2008, 09:47 PM 1800 for the autothentics Golden Goose, less than 400 chrome autothentics. The thread over at Joe's diecast shack had a paragraph on each series stating a less than 400 "chase" on the Stretch Rods. No mention of chrome SR. I would imagine the production on the regular issue pieces in this series is somewhat limited, it is new, it IS strange. I would imagine M2 was somewhat cautious with the numbers not knowing if these would be well received. I'm still on the fence myself. Maybe someone from M2 will chime in.
STUTZ 10-30-2008, 02:11 AM Nice find!
What was the price of the car at TRU?
rattlehed 10-30-2008, 03:13 PM $9.99+ tax.

Thanks Mark. I bought one at a Collectible Show last Friday. I paid $16 for the regular BWF '49 Merc limo. I saw it today at TRU for $9.99 plus tax.:freak:

DCPDGUY 11-03-2008, 10:45 AM Still none at an TRU near me. Still got customs and clear ones at one though.
DadsCoronet 11-05-2008, 02:18 AM I obviously read this thread AFTERWARD!
Went to a TRU Tuesday and saw the Stretch Rods hanging. Saw the Merc BWF and grabbed it. I wasn't interested in it but I though I would call roadwarrior to see if he wanted it. I described it to him and said, "Brad, I thought these came with colored flames, this one has gold flames." Later on in the conversation Brad said, "Wait a minute. Did you say it has gold flames??" He laughed and then I realized I just scored a Wild Goose for him!!
NYSWLHUNTER 11-17-2008, 11:24 PM i snagged one today! Right in the front of the peg!
rattlehed 11-18-2008, 07:08 AM Congrats Pierre, I found mine in the same spot, right on the front. It was the first one I ever saw, about the time I was wondering if there were chase pieces I realized I had it in my hand!
sean72 11-18-2008, 01:09 PM Hey Fellas,
We are really happy when we hear a real collector scores a chase car or limited edition car out in the wild. We have had some people say they didn't know what our chase or limited looked like. They suggested to put a sticker or different packaging to help recognize it better. But, I don't think that is a good idea. I am afraid if we put some kind of sticker or packaging these cars would not find there way onto the selves at all. I like the fact that we try to keep them under wraps and I think it helps increase the chances of these cars being released into the wild.
Any thoughts on this subject?
Thanks,
Sean

Sean, I think you're right. A different package or sticker that loudly broadcasts it's a limited "chase" would probably mean that most don't reach the shelf or if they do, the daily "door crashers" and "scalpers" will grab everyone of them to resell. Then us collectors have to pay them a premium just to get one for our collection. I hate when that happens, but most of time it's either that or not being able to get the car.

rattlehed 11-29-2008, 09:52 AM Hey Sean, would you care to enlighten us on the production figures on the limos? I found another black and gold today.

100% agree. Any limited edition label means that stockers and doorbusters would get them all.
frankhamil 12-03-2008, 10:14 AM Sean, I just scored one of the Merc Chases. However, the hood is off the car and loose in the package. I bought it anyway because they seem to be pretty hard to find.
I've not heard of this problem with M2's before.
Have you?

Hi Frank,
That's a bummer. We have had a couple here and there but nothing that I would call a problem.
Check your pm.
Thanks,
Sean
straightnnarrow 12-03-2008, 07:16 PM Hey Sean,
Just curious as to the availability of your product here in the Phoenix AZ metropolitan area. I have only seen your product in one store and there were only 2 cars to be found on the pegs, that was at a KMart. TRU has not put anything out to date, can you give me an idea if i will ever see your product in the wild in some kind of quantity. I really like the stretched Merc and would like to have the opportunity to buy one at a store.
Thanks,
Clark

Hi Clark,
I am not sure why the stores are not restocking our product. The first of the year we should be upping the number of stores we are in. Hopefully things will change in the upcoming year. Please keep us posted.
