I purchased my first LCD HDTV recently. It's not top-of-the-line, it's a Dynex (Best Buy) 19" DX-LCD19-09. I've had it nearly two weeks, and yesterday I noticed that, when turned off, the backlight would flicker. Is this common for LCD televisions/computer monitors? I read the reviews, and no one mentioned this happening. There was one review of the Insignia 19" where the backlight would come full on while the TV was turned off; a review of an AOC 22" TV on Circuit City's website said the same thing would happen.

Also, I can get MOST of Los Angeles' DT stations, except for ABC and MyNetwork. I wasn't getting KCAL 9 until yesterday, but there's no transmission today. Are some stations feeding HD programming to cable and satellite providers, but not over-the-air yet? Or, are some stations transmitting DT OTA intermittently until the transition? (I noticed this with two local PBS stations; seems they're only transmitting DT OTA on weekends.)

sQ,

I have an LCD screen (42-inch Sony) and I don't have any flicker.

The best bet is to call the stations. They may be testing their digital over-the-air broadcasting at this stage, but I'd be surprised, especially in a major market like LA.
