Here is a diecast question for you collectors.
In fact, for pretty much other stuff as well.
I am a big collector of Firebird/Trans Am/Pontiac diecast.
As well as related things, including the real cars.
Some of you have seen all, or part of my collection.
Anyway, here is my question.
Do you think getting autographs for these items, makes the items worth more?
In other words, would you as a collector, try to get everything autographed?
Case in point, here is a photo of a couple of Warren Johnson 1999 30th Anniversary NHRA Trans Ams, one which is autographed.

I got the one autographed by Warren himself.
Well, part of my collection is also NHRA funny cars, driven by other drivers.
At this year SEMA show, these drivers will be there.
I am thinking of taking almost my whole collection there, to have signed by them.
I also have the handout cards, and in some cases, the magazine ads with them.
Also, Linda Vaughn will be there again (I know her, and thruout the years, gotten alot of cool stuff from her), and one of the things she did, was pose in front of a 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans Am (which I own one, but you all (should) know that), at Indy in 1989, and I was also thinking of getting her to sign one of my 1/18 scale diecast of the 20th TTA.
Not that I ever plan to sell any of this stuff, as it's all for my personal collection.
If you could get things autographed, would you?

Just wondering,

George

If I had the chance I would. Gives them a more personal touch.

I agree!!!! By ALL means go for it!!!! If it's something personal enough for you to consider getting it autographed, then, i'd say it's gonna be in your collection forever.... I myself have a few pieces (NASCAR) that i'd love to have autographed, given the chance.... BTW.... I love them turbo TTA's..... I remember my buddy's older brother bought one new in 89' and honest to gods truth, on the way home with it, he rear-ended someone and totalled it... talk bout bad luck... he never was able to buy another.... if i remember correctly, he was on a waiting list to get it!!!!! randall

Too bad about your buddy's car.
Do you or him still have the vin?
Just wondering, as I'm trying to collect all the vins of these cars.
I have over 425 so far.
Maybe I should show all my stuff autographed on this site.
I do have alot, including my 20th TTA autographed by Emmerson Fittipaldi (winner of the 1989 Indy 500, who also recieved the actual Pace Car himself) on my dash map pocket.

hey WarbirdTA... don't even think he had a chance to get the title in his hand... as odd as it may be, he only had possession of the car for about an hr. or so (from what i remember) he had literally just picked it up at the dealership and was heading home..... i'd say he wants to put it all behind him now, since the car was totalled and the insurance took possesion... so no need in me re-living a bad dream... lol.... wow.... what a nightmare that had to be.... I've owned a few Turbo Regals (87' GN and 87' Turbo T) and can tell ya, that the 3.8L really cranks!!! I've never rode in a TTA but can only imagine what that motor w/ the handling package of the TA would be like.... Oh BTW- did you put the decals on the side that came w/ the car? Majority of ones i've seen didn't have them.... randall

Nope,
I never put them on.
I did get 3 of the owner's kits, with the door/windshield decals, key fob, and owner's manual folder, along with a cassette tape on the car, all in a nice 20th Anniversary box.
One sold not too long ago on ebay-for $1200.00!
I do have some extra door decals, which I may put on those big magnets, for car shows.
Maybe.;)
And, unlike the GNs and such, no governor on our cars.
Besides turbotransam.com, I hang out at turbobuick.com.

I really like autographed pieces! I have an Action Castrol GTX funny car signed by John force, a Racing Champs funny car signed by Al Hoffman, and an Action Budweiser funny car signed by Kenny Bernstein. I also have an Indy Car signed by Mario Andretti. Anyone can have just the car, but a signed one imo is much more unique. If it increases the value, who knows, but I don't really care, I just enjoy having them in my collection.

I may just rent a U-haul truck, and take my collection up to SEMA this year!
There are going to be tons of people there, drivers of cars that I have tons of diecast with.
Even Richard Petty!
He pretty much shows up there every year, and every year I get him to sign something.

Randall,
Sounds like you need to buy a little V-6 car again!;)
This time, get a 20th TTA!
Nice chatting with you.
