View Full Version : T-Plate Help
rbrunne1 10-26-2008, 11:15 AM I broke the t-plate on an S/K Car (I'm not sure of the brand as I bought it used) and I bought an Associated T-Plate to replace it, but it does not fit as the holes in the bottom plate do not line up. I thought all t-plates are the same.
The holes in the bottom plate are 2.74" or 3.11" apart while the holes in the accociated t-plate are 2.94". I realize that I could drill a new hole, but that might create a weak point in the bottom plate.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Bob B.
Andy Koback 10-26-2008, 12:38 PM Every t-plate that I have, KSG, Ass. or whatever, all holes are 2.5" center to center. Sounds like you got something other than standard pan car parts.

I think you need to find out the mfg. of the pod/bottom plate.
Racin'Jason 8 10-26-2008, 01:05 PM Now that I think about it...when you say bottom plate, are you referring to the chassis? If you mean the pivot ball holes don't line up then you probably got a 1/12 scale T-plate.

Do you have anyway to take pictures of what you have (Old Broken...and NEW?)
That may help I.D. what you have and what you need.
SHADOW 10-26-2008, 02:47 PM Some of the earlier s/k cars used the offset hyperdrive type t-plates not the symetrical ones used in most cars today

But the pivot ball holes should be the same distance apart regardless of offset or symetrical. The 12th scale thing might be it. I don't know if their t-plates have a different hole pattern or not.
rbrunne1 10-26-2008, 04:53 PM Thanks for the quick replies!
The pivot ball holes fit fine, it's the holes that mount the t-plate to the bottom plate of the rear pod.
The new t-plate is on the top and the old is on the bottom. Note that the new is longer than the old.
Do the pictures help any?
Thanks,
Bob B.
ScottH 10-26-2008, 04:57 PM The old t-plate is an offset t-plate your new one is not.
Andy Koback 10-26-2008, 05:20 PM Oh, THOSE holes!!! I thought we were referring to pivot ball holes. Yup, you have an off-set t-plate. New one is symetrical. Where ever you get one from, request an off-set one.
TBRC1 10-26-2008, 10:15 PM Man I have'nt seen an off set T plate in a loooooooooooooooong time
swtour 10-26-2008, 10:21 PM The offset plate(Broken one) is probably the same as a Associated RC10Lss
The incorrect one (non-offset) is for the later L3/L4 type of cars.
(Good news is the Offset ones are usually CHEAPER.)
