Nature must dislike me...!!!:( After holding off on building my Chariot I succumed and decided to start it.
So after spending hours putting on the inside orange vinyls followed by the masks for outside from aztec dummy and then painting the canopy I decided to put a coat of clear polish on it to protect and seal it all. I set it aside to dry and about 10 minutes later a freaky little whirlwind blew up.:mad: End result lots of dust filled the air before I could get to the windows n doors. No need to guess where some it stuck too... In frustrated anger I just walked away... Though not as noticable as when it happened you can still see the dust in the dried polish.

My question is... Can this be fixed and if so how???

Ouch! I feel for ya.

I guess it depends what kind of sealer you used. If it's "only" a Future like floor wax, you can remove it with some over the counter window cleaner something that has ammonia in it. and it will come off clean

if its a enamel based clear coat, the cure might be worse than the disease because removing it might make the whole piece cloudy.

in either case, I'd be trying to work it into a sandstorm diorama:)

Thanks. It's our version of future... I hadn't even thought about window cleaner:freak: I have some windex sitting on the desk right beside it. I'll test a corner to see if that works. If it does I'll let you know. BTW they are great vinyls too  The only sane way to do the canopy I think.

Cheers

Windex should work just fine for removing Future. It's my standby whenever I airbrush Future for cleaning out the airbrush and color cup. I've used it many times to remove old Future coatings I wanted to redo.

Cheers mate.

I use it for the airbrush as well and as a 50/50 mix with water to thin down paint for when I need to add a wash over somthing for detail. I am going to try and clean it up tonite and see how it goes. The tricky bit is not to remove tomuch from where the vinyls and paint are  :p

When this happens, I usually weather the model. After all, the Chariot went through the desert, got attacked by a giant Cyclops, and nearly got flushed down a whirlpool - just in the pilot episode. Heck, anything you do might be considered accurate. You could just say it got attacked by a large fluffy bunny-alien.

My freak accident was worse with than that. I was glueing into place the rails that the bubble slides on. A big plop rolled to the end of the (SUPPOSEDLY CONTROLLED) glue pen. The end result was a large round very noticeable round discolored patch. I was then very ticked and decided to use a translucent material and glue it to all the clear panels on the top of the chariot. From inside, it just looks like a frosted glass. Outside it favors the silver that adorns the sides of the upper glass. The end result was satisfactory, but I still plan on another chariot purchase as a result. I'm glad yours will be easy to rectify.

^^^ Ouch!! Thats sucks, well now I don't feel so bad... an iteresting idea on the fix though

Thank fella's for the tips... I tried windex and it worked a treat no more of that clear emery paper feel.:woohoo: I may have to use a bit of sealer over some of the smaller strips of orange vinyl and there are spare on the origional sheet too just in case... But other wise I am one happy little vegimite. :)

And Gene the weathering is always an option open for me :p

Cheers,

Glad you dodged that bullet! I do my spray painting in a bathroom which has a ceiling fan to the outside, to avoid the dust problem.
