Brad Boling 10-22-2008, 09:31 PM With the new season coming up next week, it's time to start a new thread for the upcoming racing year. Looks like the two largest classes coming up will be the Losi 1/10 sliders, and the 17.5 pantrucks. Burkey will run any class with 3 or more cars though...
~Brad
jason crist 10-22-2008, 09:44 PM don't tell YOKMAN about the new thread ......
yokman 10-22-2008, 11:14 PM vrooooooom vroooooooooom vroooooooom:roll::roll::roll::roll:
CClay1282 10-23-2008, 12:01 AM Hey guys, im lookin forward to racin with yall next weekend! Gonna bring a 17.5 pantruck, and 13.5 condomtired nastytruck! :)
67-4-fun 10-23-2008, 01:38 AM condom tire nastytruck..... that should be the new name for that class:thumbsup:
johnnyhacksaw 10-23-2008, 11:28 AM brad, new thread for the new season.
well....guy's, too bad we could do a little test and tune this weekend, like left lane mentioned. i'd be up for it.
have my truck body's all painted up. my little girls picked the design and the paint for my tc truck. so, please don't make fun of it......lol! lol! i did tell them the main color had to be yellow though. may post a picture tonight here.
i painted my pantruck though.
flywheel93 10-23-2008, 05:34 PM Is there going to be a turn out of legends? are you going to be running the spec class or are the rules different? Thanks.
Also what is going to be the best choice for batteries on the 1/10 slider?
Brad Boling 10-23-2008, 08:50 PM As for the legends I believe they are going to be running spec classs rules. I am going to propose that we allow a choice allow a choice between the brushed EX-spec motor, or the 13.5 EX sport brushless Motor. (NON sintered rotor).
I put the brushless setup in my legend, although I have yet to test it, but speeds were reported nearly identiacal between the two, using 22 tooth pinion and 1600 4 cell spec pack at Summit in Ft Wayne.

I do know a sphere and 13.5 with 4600's do a good job 2 even geared with a 20 tooth pinnion she is cooking.
scottman2007 10-24-2008, 07:43 AM I plan on running my legend, with spec motor, whats the advantage if any running the brushless system instead of the Spec motor??would it be that the brushless system is more consistant with lap times??? or is it a maintance thing??We should have a nice turn out for Legends, ill be running my 10th scale slider as well.
Can we Get a Head count on who plans on running what since its a new thread?
By the way Congrats Jason On your First place With Q-scale Sprinter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Probably a little bit of both, but the consistency in the lap times is more up to you though...
~Brad
yokman 10-24-2008, 08:44 AM Congrats Jason On your First place With Q-scale Sprinter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
must of been the only one there is he won!!!!!

like Brad said
the difference between spec motor and brushless motor in your legend will be the challenge of the driver
but
from what i herd there is no difference in either......
i know of 2 coming to run legends that have not posted on here
my pick to win (only because YOKMAN is the pit crew and should her how to drive) is
the best woman driver in Indiana
Mya ( yes daughter (you got to feel for on that one) of Yokman)
sliders should be a great turn out
batteries in this class ? do not know what is good or not
but anythinf 3600 sport/stick pack should be good
that class will be won by the driver and set up
does anyone know what time doors open saturday ? november the 1st
1st place in sprints ?
i won a heat
but
finished 2nd in the A mains the last 3 races in sprints
had fun and can't wait until next season
nutz4rc 10-24-2008, 10:25 AM To clarify the brushless Legend. Dale and I both ran with brushed and brushless and we ran a race night with brushless to compare. We both used the Novak XBR (sport now called Havoc) ESC and Novak 13.5 EX. With brushed and brushess both geared at 22 they all turned almost identical laps with the other Legends.
The 13.5 EX is non-sintered rotor and thus less powerful. If a sintered rotor motor is used, the gearing will probably need to be changed or that version might be faster. The EX can be faster if geared up and that is why the decison was made to limit gearing to keep the lap times close for everyone. It turns out on the Fort Wayne track the 22 works well on both motors. Other tracks may be different.
At Left Turn in Muncie (high banked, short, carpet oval) we had to gear brushed at 19 and brushless at 22 to get even lap times. As more racers start the class, we will evaluate the gearing to be certain all is as equal as we can make it. The 22 on the brushed was far too over geared.
WINSEEKER 10-24-2008, 01:07 PM Doors Open At 1200 Noon, Last I Heard!!!
yokman 10-24-2008, 01:07 PM so the question is.....are we screwing up the legands class to this year by allowing brushless?the rules have been the SAME for legands for how many years now? I don't agree with the brushless thing AT ALL! ya I have let mya run brushless in her's just cause i don't want her burning up motors but I know the guys down in terre haute are still running them box stock( they way they are susposed to be).And I may loose a few friends here but......I challange dale or Larry to run a brushed motor and I will run a brushless and lets see if the lap times are the same? I was just about ready to buy a legand for me to run with mya but there is no way in hell i am buying a brushless speedo and motor to run in it.now i am gonna have to look for the best can i can get, best non sintered rotor i can get wich is gonna cost a pocket full of $$$$ i don't have.sounds alot like 13.5 to me.
o well,i am having good luck building these lil ships in a bottle and will just stay home and build them all winter until spring comes around and then elvis and i will head back fishing!!!!!
scottman2007 10-24-2008, 01:48 PM I was thinking that too yokman, but i wasnt going to say anything,I too thought the rules shouldnt be changed, but on indy slots forum,i got jump all over just because I didnt like the fact that Indy slots was changing the legend rules too.And i guess everyone thought i was be a jerk, when in turn i wasnt,i just think if a certain class has rules and everyone goes by the rules why should they be changed.but iam not going to say anymore on that,i dont want to be labled as a whinner,LOL.
nutz4rc 10-24-2008, 02:01 PM In the race that Dale and I ran brushless at Fort Wayne we finished 3rd and
4th so I don't think we had an advantage. It was an effort by Dale to reduce the cost by limiting buying, cutting, and putting new brushes in the Spec motors. It doesn't matter to me, since I have a second Legend with Spec motor to run as well.
Keep in mind this wasn't just any 13.5 brushless. The Novak 13.5 EX does not have the power of the Novak SS 13.5.
Where ever I race Legends, I have a combination that works, so I don't care one way or the other.
nutz4rc 10-24-2008, 02:06 PM A second thought did occur to me. Just what are the rules at New Castle. In the past they changed several times. When I first raced there, it was totally Legend rules. That meant, no bearings, no chassis changes, no bent king pins, steel rear axle, plastic hubs, no turnbuckles, Spec batts, motor, and tires. Then they changed to allow turnbuckles, aluminium hubs, and graphite rear axles. I brought mine with a graphite axle the next year and was told they weren't allowed, so I changed back. Haven't run there for some time so what are the current New Castle Legend rules?
IndyRC_Racer 10-24-2008, 02:21 PM I suggest to help grow classes at the Moose that someone take it upon themselves to post rules, results, and all the good things about running at the Moose - such as having food on-site and easy loading/unloading by the track.
CClay1282 10-24-2008, 02:22 PM I dont know about new castle, but at joes in terre haute we run legend rules except for turnbuckles, and bearings. You may run an alluminum LEFT hub, but right one has to be STOCK. THATS IT.
I think they should all be like that so that no matter where you go, you can run the good ole legend class and be competitive.

very good point! Can't belive I am saying this, but so does Brian.seems we have all 3 tracks on the same page on nastruck, now we need to get on the same page for legands.I love Dale like a father but I DON'T agree with the brushless thing in a legand if your gonna run compitive, mya is a different story.who cares about maintance on a spec motor, its the only class you can work on your motors for no overhead.Legand rules were made sum 10 to 15 years ago and hasn't changed on the tracks have changed the rules.you can go on about how weak the motor is but give me a turbodyno 45 and an inductance meter and I bet ya 100 bucks I can build a brushless motor that will smoke anything on the track, same as 13.5 pan car.
scott-I dont mind slots rules, but a 20 buck motor and go take there $$$ on sunday's.....sounds fun 2 me.we all know that have raced at slots that doug is a jackass, but it is his place to do so.

GOOD POINT BRIAN!!!!!
YOU DO THAT AT INDY SLOT !! . AND THAT IS A BIG HELP . EVERY ONE WANTS TO LOOK AT RESULT OF THERE CLASS OF CARS THERE RACING IN . ITS LIKE HAVE A POINT RACE . YOU CAN SEE WHO IS DOING WHAT. . AND IT KIND OF PUMPS YOU UP . FOR NEXT WEEK
AND IT HELPS OTHER RACERS THAT CHECKS IN TO OUR SITE TO SEE WHATS GOING ON . AND MAYBE THEY WILL WANT TO CAME AND RACE WITH US . . THIS IS ONE EREA ABOUT RACING THAT I CAN SAY I KNOW ABOUT . I HAVE BEEN R/C RACING FOR OVER 45 YEARS . AND HAVE BEEN IN MANY CLUBS. AND THE RACING CLUBS THAT WAS ALWAYS SUCCESFUL AND BROUGHT IN NEW RACERS. WAS THOSE THAT ADVERTISE SOME HOW WHAT THERE DOING . AND IN TODAYS TIMES ITS EVEN BETTER , BECAUSE OF THE COMPUTOR

nutz4rc 10-24-2008, 03:15 PM I don't care what rules we run, I will bring a car that fits. See ya!

Damn, I'd like to make a rebuttal on that proposal. I think I stirred up too much crap with that...:drunk: I realy didnt build my brusless legend to run aywhere else but Muncie on Tuesdays since it's only about 8 minutes from my house. I was just looking at the 13.5 EX from a cost savings perspective also...
~Brad
yokman 10-24-2008, 03:54 PM its like this.......nothing agianst any of you guy. Its just with being a single parent these days i don't have the $$$ to run pan car like i would like to. My battery guy shut down shop, motor BS,price of tires,I just can't afford it this year. So I was looking at legands seing how I have a ton of motors and tires and spare parts and was just gonna run legands with mya when we do run this year.I was quite suprized when dale told me at summit last month they were running brushless systems?I am not running a junk spec motor agianst a brushless motor peiord.if your gonna run brushless ,lets break out the gtb's and 13.5 or 10.5's we all have laying around collecting dust.gonna be a funny year around here for racing for sure.If anyone is interested you can buy the lil bottles and wooden ships at hobby town for around 10 to 20 bucks, lol
johnnyhacksaw 10-24-2008, 04:19 PM yokman, my little girl is going to try the legends this year too. i'm with using the spec motor for now also. don't really have to buy anything, maybe we can let the true beginners race together, ya think?
yokman 10-24-2008, 04:30 PM a kids class would be GREAT. I tell ya when my lil one is running i have more fun watching her SMILE then I have ever had racing myself!
nutz4rc 10-24-2008, 04:45 PM Summit has the Junior Racing League for kids and beginners. Lots of parents routing their kids on. Many use Sliders but it is not a requirement.
It is a blast to turn marshall because you never know where the cars may be going on the track, and off.
johnnyhacksaw 10-24-2008, 05:05 PM a kids class would be GREAT. I tell ya when my lil one is running i have more fun watching her SMILE then I have ever had racing myself!
same here!....yer rite!... me too!! :)

I have to agree with you on that one, Bob. Next Saturday should be fun.
~Brad
jason crist 10-26-2008, 07:28 PM Yes a beginners class for sure
i have a legend and may plan on running it
but if it's just beginners then no that night
i have a guy coming to start racing this year and he is running legend
and would be good to run with beginners for a while
but hes has a brushless XBR system in his legend
hate me if ya want but with all the cheating and work on a spec motor
i told him to buy a brushless system
plus now he doesn't have to go buy a comm cutter just for a legend motor.
I agree we all 3 tracks need to be on the same page
run the brushless with the spec motors a couple of weeks and see .......
yokman 10-26-2008, 07:43 PM I am a legend,
hate me if ya want, but I'm the king at cheating
yes you are and yes I do.
smokin 10-26-2008, 08:17 PM WELCOME RACE FANS. It's time to go racing at the MOOSE. Doors will open at 12:00 noon Saturday and racing will begin at 5:00pm. Their will be three (3) heats and one (1) main. We will run any class that shows up. Looking forward to Saturday.
We will have a short discussion on Legends and the 10th scale sliders. Guys in the next two (2) weeks we plan on having some rules posted and a schedule for everyone which includes the Ft. Wayne races and Joe's Hobby Barn.
A POINT SERIES is being planned at this time. Right now we plan on giving everyone three (3) to four (4) weeks to get dialed in, with a point series starting around the 1st of December. Thanks Butch
j21moss 10-26-2008, 08:19 PM Butch.. you got your Mopar Truck back???
johnnyhacksaw 10-26-2008, 08:20 PM ok if you have bashed anyother track with in the last week
don't talk on here because you sound stupid and your making New Castle look bad ......
you know who i'm talking about
and if you want to talk about it PM me !!!!!!!!!
ok onto legend talk
Yes a beginners class for sure

i kinda feel the same.....but,have new spec motors already. may use them in my little girls legend, she learn'in.
i know your rite about people cheat'in..... mag. zapping, comm cut and timed brushes. brushless would kill that.
ex novak motor 54.99
spec motor 25.99 + brushes 4.50 (good ones) + springs 3.00 = $33.49
a difference of $21.50 in the price of the motor.
the only thing is the begin cost, which ex brushless system is $169.99
in the long run you would'nt have to buy brushes, springs and another spec motor.
either way, does'nt matter to me......just lookin at both sides....
jason, have your legends car......and cheatin stuff....ha! ha! ha!....
be talkin too ya!

butch, give me a call tomorrow night.
smokin 10-26-2008, 09:27 PM johnnyhacksaw i will call tomorrow evening
j21moss 10-26-2008, 09:30 PM Butch.. I seen 3 of those 10th scale Sliders run at Indy Slots.. Better get them boys on the ground.. they roll over very easy and get that Lt frt wheel up in the air!! They look pretty Kewl!!
Metal 10-26-2008, 09:37 PM Heard a rumor of Trinity not having the spec batteries anymore. Might want to check into it and possibly get a head start on a alternative.
Good to hear you guys are up and running. Always have a good time at the Moose. Best food you'll ever get at a race track!

scottman2007 10-26-2008, 09:40 PM Count me out on running anything, any questions just ask Jason almighty.
j21moss 10-26-2008, 09:42 PM Brian.. correct.. they did do away with them.. Pro-match is suppose to produce them but have not seen any new ones in a long time. so we will see what turns up. Indy Slots went to the Black Tamiya super stock motors and run any 4 cell pack. I ran the motor today and just ran my spec packs against them and not too much difference in speed so it might be a idea.
Brad Boling 10-26-2008, 09:52 PM You will be missed...
Who has there 17.5 pantrucks ready to roll??
As for the 4 cell spec packs, there could possibly be an alternative source...I will find out more later this week.
jason crist 10-26-2008, 10:04 PM should be a good turn out saturday and a good season at
New Castle
Butch give me a call when you get a chance
i have somethings to talk you about
1. figure 8 series
2. entry 1st class then 2nd class
jason crist 10-26-2008, 10:07 PM pantruck is ready for saturday
smokin 10-26-2008, 10:51 PM j21moss. Yes I did get my MOPAR Truck back. Looks good.
Thanks for the info on the sliders. Hope to see you driving one and having some fun with us.
Thanks Butch
nutz4rc 10-27-2008, 10:49 AM Has anyone tried the same things we did on 1/18th Sliders to stop roll overs?
You can run a bead of CA around the outer edge of right front tires or put a strip of elecrical tape in the same location. On rubber tires, this stops the roll over.
Brad. I have a 17.5 pan truck ready. I will have a 13.5 ready also. I will wait to run my legend car when the rules are finalized. I just bought 2 spec packs from Tower Hobbies. My others are still ok.
