First off, welcome to HT Maleia. Always good to have new members here on HT. Not to burst your bubble or anything, but Russ from MileZone has a pic up of the muscle cars.

Wow! Those are nice. That looks more like a 3 vehicle set in two variations, though.

Where's the GTO? Props to the original would have been nice. Oh, well. I love the Mopars, too!

If M2 expands the line then they will drive another nail into the JL coffin. What are the chase charactaristics?

For the normal M2 line, they have an all chrome car in each release which they call a 'limited' and one all black with gold trim as well. The all black/gold is what M2 considers their official chase car. For the clear plastic ones, the 'limited' car is typically an all clear car with no paint on seats, engine, ect.

I found the chrome version of the '57 Ford in the first release. This is a 'limited' car.

Explanation from an M2 rep Sean72 who's a member on HT:

Sorry for any confusion with the Limited Editions and Wild Goose / Chase Cars thing. Here's the story in a nutshell. We basically started off with the Chrome cars in the 1st & 2nd releases of the Auto-Thentics. They are produced in less than 400 per release, only one car is chosen per release to be a Chrome car. We liked the idea of a "special car" in each master case, but not the Chrome cars. We didn't want to raise the production number of the Chrome cars; 1. We liked the low numbers and feel it's going to help keep it collectable 2. We do not use cheap chrome; these cars are expensive even on our end. It would no longer make business sense to produce these in a higher volume.

This is where the Wild Goose cars come in. Starting in release 3 of the Auto-Thentics each master case will have one Wild Goose / Black & Gold car. Each release only one car is chosen and made into a Wild Goose / Black & Gold car. So basically each release of Auto-Thentics will have 2 special cars.

We listen to our dealers, collectors, naysayers and even a madman. Being a small company it gives us the flexibility to adapt to the market and the needs of our customers and not have to have an act of congress to make any changes.

Corvettes are available from competitor Greenlight. I'd rather see something different which has not been produced previously by other firms. The various Fords, DeSotos and Dodges were a good start in the Auto-thentics line .

Me, too. Three very popular and influential cars that have not been produced accurately by anyone in 1/64 (that I know of) are the 1959 Galaxie, 1969 Grand Prix, and 1973 Monte Carlo.

I sure hope that M2 will soon be the first major diecast company to produce these three great Detroit Classics (among many others that have been likewise neglected by others) as beautifully as they deserve to be made.

Now your talking. A 69-70 Pontiac Grand Prix would be great.

And then maybe a 1966 GP!

(A '65 would be fine, too, but I like the curved fully-open grille shapes on the '66 a bit better. Both would be fantastic, though.)

I'm thinking M2 could really pull off a nice Full-sized Musclecar set. I'd love to see a set with the 69-70 Marauder X100, 67 Catalina 2+2, 66 Wildcat GS, 66 Impala SS (nobody has done a 66 yet) 70-71 Sport Fury GT, 67-70 Galaxie 500XL, and a 65-69 Dodge Monaco. All great looking cars that deserve to be done in this scale as only M2 can do them.

Wow, that's a great idea for a set. I can't believe that no one has done that Marauder yet. My neighbor brought a bronze 1/1 home from the dealership where he worked when they were new and our neighborhood just about went nuts! It was like a spaceship from the future, at least in our eyes at that time.

That was the most excitement around there since he brought home the first brand new '67 Cougar. (Sometimes he drove Javelins and AMXs, too, since they also sold AMCs there.)

I've got the Minichamps 1/43 Marauder, but life just ain't complete without a good 1/64 to keep it company.

'69/'70 XLs are my favorite full-size Fords, too. Couldn't go wrong with those, either.

One slight request: how about a '65 Wildcat GS instead of the '66? I really like the gunsight grille that the '65 has, and I couldn't believe that they dropped it for '66. That's the coolest Buick emblem evar, as far as I'm concerned.

I would lile nothing better than some full size muscle barges!
A '68 Fury non fast-top like mine,
any '60s Catalina or GP that JL hasn't done would be bitchen.
Or howa bout Imperials???? Very under represented in diecast.

I agree with you, the 65 Wildcat was a bit nicer than the 66, had a bit more style, the 66 was a bit tamer but I think the GS was a one year only model for 66 alone, which was why I suggested it. To be honest, ANY full sized American car from the late 50's to early 70's would be a winner in my book, I have always thought they represented the pinnacle in U.S. style and were the best of the best.

Hey Lummox, any Fury from 65-72 would actually be a good choice in my book too! That Imperial looks too cool! Used to work with a guy who had a four door like that back in the late 70's, boy was that car Looong!!!!
