Ok when i was a kid all I remember was the thin walled plastic boxes with yellow, white or green ends. Now I'm back in the hobby and buying older stuff (and newer stuff) and don't know what box goes with what. Is there a online resource I can go? Or has this already has answered (could not find it when I searched "boxes" in this forum)?

I have Bob B's book which has some boxes - here is my question:

If the two piece plastic clamshell has "Model Motoring" embossed on the top is a Vibrator only box?

If it's a two piece clamshell without markings on the top is it an early Tjet?

I picked up some stuff the other day and I'm not sure what goes with what. I also have a two car clamshell plastic box that I assume was part of the orginal vibrator set. I think this goes into the cardboard "motor powered vehicle" box that was with the set?

As I remember were the later thin walled boxes could have different color foam but that is for a different post.

I also have some large blue AFX sized boxes (but I've seen black) that have harder plastic than the black ones. What the heck are these?

Thanks in advance for your help, I've gottent some excelletn info here. Thanks!

Don't know anything about Vibes I could give AFX boxes a shot If you can post a picture.
Sounds like the old blue box that sits atop the AFX cardboard displays?

I got PM'd saying they were early AFX, I've got no paperwork/cardboard just the box. I've hopefully attached a picture of the group

Bottom right is tjet vintage. The blue box in the back is an AFX pre magnatraction box. It would have a square cardboard AFX advertisement under it.With a rectangular label describing the car inside the box glued to it.
Sort of like this aw one.

Don't have an extensive collection of boxed stuff at all, but of the boxes I do have -
thin plastic with yellow end caps were later standard t jet, green end caps were tuff ones. I have early t jets and a later car in plastic boxes, none have "model motoring" molded in, they are blank. I have seen accessories packaged in plastic boxes rather than cardboard, notably bridge risers, but I don't know how common that was.

I have a couple of vibe sets in retail packaging (as opposed to individually boxed components in a marked cardboard box, the way my original set came). The cars in the "picture box" sets either came under clear molded plastic stapled to yellow cardboard behind, or in standard box-sized holes in styrofoam.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. I knew about the yellow and green end boxes since that is what I bought cars in as a kid. The hard plastic clamshell were new to me since Vibrators and early Tjets were before my time. I don't remember the blue AFX boxes but I'm sure that's what I had as I only had a handful of standard AFX's as a kid.
