I started building an sk,I have a kskt chassis plate and a woods pan car rear pod on it.The front end is on ,all I need for the front is axles.I also need to get a damper shock and mount and mobified body.So its about 3/4 done.

The best thing to do is pick a race day/time and stick with it for the season.

If guys want to race oval at your track they will conform to your schedual in time. It could takes months for people/racers to get to point where they can fit into your scedual.

Big races are not the problem this race season and the are not the solution for you issue. A trophy race now would only cause more questioning at this point in time.

$20 is a very fair price for racing. Maybe a two for one deal would help for the guys that want to race twice a week. It works well for us.

Lastly, local race crowds is what keeps a track open. You have strong group of racers in you general area. Don't get hung up on the racer that have travle long distances they are not bread and butter.

One more though, free oval racing for the month of Feb. If they start coming do to the free racing then they will for a racing routine and hopefully keep coming.

Sorry the long post, but I want to see you stay around. Also I am sitting at the airport waiting on a delayed flight - lots of typos posted this on my iPod.

Go to rchover.com,then from the side menu go to rch's raceway.then scroll down and you will see oval registration.I would just call them today and ask if there is going to be any racing. They dont make a decision until between 2 and 3pm,which I know if you are coming from NH that would be to late. They need 8 people to race.

i would like to do touring car again but im still in trouble with getting a brushless and a diffrent speed control and i woulid probably need batteries. the last time i ran my touring i ran 19 turn with 6 cell 2400 batteries

Fasthobbys1
02-23-2009, 06:32 AM
If you want to get into on-road you don't NEED the brushless motors or LiPo batteries for rubber sedan.I am still running Nimh and a 10 yr old TC-3 I finnally got beat yesterday by Steve Obrien of Toyz for Boys useing his carpet Corrally that he put rubber tires on for yesterday.On-road is not like oval that you HAVE to have the latest and greatest to be competitive

DRAmvr94
03-29-2009, 03:17 PM
yea but bud dont u think that a 19 turn would be a little fast for that track

Ok guys,I know its a long time away but lets give this track another shot this fall. Its a great place and its local,so lets make it work.Im sure Jeremy would give oval another shot. What do you think?

Maybe Jeremy could get intouch with other New England track owners and they could set up a tour race between all the New England tracks including RC Hover.I know this has been brought up before.Just thinking out loud.

jayp4969
05-30-2009, 05:18 PM
I'd say the track is great you just need more of a local crowd. I'd be more than happy to make a few trips over the course of the season. I can't commit to a full race schedule no matter what day because of my work schedule. It's a great short track and I think it could work if you had the customer base for oval. One other thing I noticed was the hobby shop closes pretty early which could affect the racing as I'd like to know that if I need parts the store is open. Maybe even just extended hours by an hour or two?

GT2
05-30-2009, 05:38 PM
If we can get some ideas together to tell Jeremey what would bring more people in, maybe it would work.I know that there probably isnt enough oval guys in the area to support the track.Maybe some on-road guys would try oval if it would draw some people. He could run oval every other week, set up a schedule so everyone knows it.If anyone has ideas post them,I will tell Jeremy to check out this site so he can see them, maybe something will come of it.We dont know if we dont try!

bud3738
05-30-2009, 11:14 PM
I know some of the guys complained of a 20.00 race fee...if it was 15.00 it would be better......I gladly pay 20.00 for a weekly show....well see what the fall brings

jayp4969
05-31-2009, 01:20 AM
I definetly agree, 20 for a race fee is no problem. I think you should maybe commit to an every other week schedule. Get the word out and stick to it. You can't expect a crowd of 50 in the first few tries, that'd be like expecting to sell 200 cars the first week you owned a dealership. I believe that if you keep it simple, spread the word and put on a good show thats when the people will start gaining interest in the area. I mean if the on-road guys see that oval is fun maybe they'd like to try? I did like the idea of hosting a tour race that way maybe you could gain some interest from people driving a distance that may be up for a little drive every now and then. Also as I stated before is that having the hobby shop open later and advertising for oval in it would help to attract a few people. Like I said before you can't expect to have a huge following overnight. Just run your weekly program whether you have 5,10, or 15 guys. Try it out over the course of the whole season. That's just my two cents though...

GT2
05-31-2009, 09:17 AM
He did lower is race fee to $15 for the offroad track.I would be happy to pay $20 for a local track to race at,I think that its reasonable.

ud21
05-31-2009, 09:23 AM
the problem is that the 5 guys that are willing to pay 20 were there, its the 20 other guys in the area that dont want to spend it. plus they did alot of things that you cant do when running a place. the timing of opening a track at thanksgiving time was bad, then you need to work at making it successful, they just expected people to show up and race. it was poorly run, and it stinks to say that because the track was one of the most fun i have raced on. my 2 cents

GT2
05-31-2009, 12:18 PM
Well lets not give up on it yet.Lets all give him some suggestions on what the place needs to draw people.

To follow up on what Big Mike said,
with regards to entry fees.
I happen to agree..

So what effect can a couple of bucks have?
Let's see.

5 guys @ $20 = $100
10 guys @ $15 = $150
15 guys @ $12 = $180

Now for illustration only, assume you clear 5 bucks on each.
Either on parts, drinks, chips, 50/50tix, what have you...
IMO, that's pretty conservative.

5 guys $125
10 guys $200
15 guys $255
I'd rather have the 15 guys @ 12....

However, I do see a problem with lowering the prices now...
and I understand it to some degree.
It may be too late.
A lot of guys have just given up, and aren't going to return
no matter what. I know a bunch of guys that I used to love to hang out
with, and joke with are just... out. Not coming back.
So that leaves the shorter crowds of present, to tote the load... :(

I was asking Heath about mybe taking over the neot and because he is not .He told me if I want to run a tour start my own. real nice ha.
