racing starts this saturday nov. 8 :woohoo:
doctordrew 11-17-2008, 11:25 AM Only the second week in and racing is off the hook. First off, a big thanks to everyone that came out today. It was good to see Paul Nam and Mike Barrett from PA and Fred and Chet Kelsey from Ontario. It was also good to see Mark Stetzle make it out again this week. You guys always raise the level of competition a notch or two when you come to the track. Now to the racing!
2WD Buggy
---------
After a few close rounds of qualifying Chet Kelsey was TQ by 0.6 sec. in front of Justin Williams with Paul Nam only 1 sec. behind in 3rd. The B main saw Zack Myers lay down some consistent laps and take the win to bump to the A main. Milkman finished second (Milk 1 – Fred 0). The A main had Chet Kelsey leading the way. Chet fell back to 3rd after the first lap but he worked his way back up to 1st and didn’t look back. Paul Nam was a consistent 2nd and Mike Barrett fell back at the beginning but was able to make it back to 3rd. Scott Cimato was the top local finishing 4th.
4WD Open
--------
18 4WD cars made it out. Mike Barrett took away TQ from Brian Bellinger by less than 1/10th of a second in the last qualifier. Mark Stetzle won the D main. Fred finished in front of Milkman (Milk 1 – Fred 1. I guess they continue this again next time.) Cory Pulliam made it back out and was getting his form back by taking the C Main. Rick Redmin stayed consistent winning the B and bumping up to the tough A main. The A Main has Mike Barrett starting in front but Brian Bellinger took the lead after 3 laps, Brian stayed out front and increased his lead lap by lap taking the win. Justin Williams had a tough first lap and fell to last but was able to make it up to 2nd by the end of the race. Dan Bach stayed smooth and took 3rd.
Stadium Truck
-------------
Stadium truck is getting a great variety of drivers. Dan Bach took the TQ with Tom Heims qualifying 2nd. Jim Mazurek continued to improve his consistency and took the C main. Anthony Muscato made it back from RC Pro finals in Texas and took the B main. There was quite a battle between Mark Stetzel and Brandon Oddo for 2nd. Dan Bach had an easy drive to take the A main win. Ryan Bossert and Cory Pulliam had the battle of the day swapping back and forth between 2nd and 3rd six times. Ryan stayed tight in the last corner and was able to finish a car length in front of Cory for 2nd. Rick Redmin was able to stay on the same lap to take 4th in his first stadium truck race (must have been the car.)
Slash
-----
The Slash class continues to be the fun class to drive. Bill Gumbert, Mark Smith and Bill Defranco all had new cars. Kevin Siller had his Slash dialed and took TQ with Bill Gumbert qualifying 2nd. All 8 cars started the A main and the drivers took “rubbin” to a new level. Kevin Siller was able to lay down some stadium truck-like lap times and drive thru the traffic to take the win by a lap. Bill Gumbert adjusted well to indoor racing and took 2nd and Mark Smith’s Slash held up to Mark’s driving to take 3rd.
Notes from the day
------------------
Some new drivers are already stepping up their game. Brandon Oddo finished in the middle of the B in only his second stadium truck race, watch out guys. Dave Craiglow is adjusting to electric racing and continues to improve each week. Kevin McNerny is getting the setup right on his D4 and made the tough 4WD A main. Ryan Bossert is getting back into stadium truck and drove a great A main race. And whose idea was it to give Rick Redmin a stadium truck? The Slashes continue to amaze me as a stock spec class. The guys are getting them dialed and they are built like a tank. With all of the rubbin going on in the main everyone’s Slash held up.
It was good to race with our out-of-town friends and we hope to see more of you this year. Thanks again to everyone for making it a great day.
Scott54 11-17-2008, 05:45 PM Nice recap! Makes me want to make the trip!!! Any big races coming up?
doctordrew 11-18-2008, 09:37 AM hey Scott prob not till after the hoidays.
but with the turn out we had last weekend 50plus. it was a big race:thumbsup:
doctordrew 11-25-2008, 04:08 PM Another great turnout this week. We had some more new visitors this week including Nick Reger and Shawn Richards. Chet and Fred Kelsey also made the trip again. Thanks to everyone for spending the day with us. Now to the racing!
2WD Buggy
---------
Chet Kelsey continued the Canadian domination of 2WD buggy setting TQ each round and the only one to make 19 laps. Justin Williams qualified 2nd and Zach Myers stepped up his game to qualify 3rd. Dan Black also made the A main his first week out this season in 2WD. Scott Cimato won the B main with Milkman a close second (Milk 2 – Fred 1.) The A main saw Chet loose the lead early to Justin. Chet took back 1st and held Justin off the rest of the race to take the win. Dan Black finished 3rd (so much for needing time to get back into 2WD.)
4WD Open
--------
Another great turnout in 4WD. Dan Bach took TQ away from Dennis Heims in the final round with Cory Pulliam coming back out strong and qualifying 3rd. Mark Stetzel won both the C and B mains to bump into the A and take this week’s “Bump Up King” award. Dave Craiglow finished the C main in 2nd. Mark and Rick Siiller had a good back-and-forth battle in the B main. With Dan Bach not able to make the main Justin Williams jumped out to an early lead and held onto it for the whole race to take the win. Rick Redmin slowly worked his way thru the field with steady driving to take 2nd and Dennis Heims was able to hold onto 3rd.
Stadium Truck
-------------
Stadium truck gets stronger every week. Dan Bach set TQ in the final round being the only one with 19 laps. Tom Heims qualified 2nd with Cory Pulliam close behind in the 3rd position. Anthony Muscato won the C main with Kevin McNerny taking second. Dennis Heims won the B main but he and his brother couldn’t both drive the same car in the A so Anthony Muscato took the bump up. Shawn Richards was close behind to take 3rd. In the A main it didn’t take Cory Pulliam long to get back into stadium truck and he was able to get around Tom Heims for 1st half way into the race and hold on for the win. Rick Redmin finished 3rd and Anthony took 4th.
Slash
-----
Slash class saw some new drivers including Tom Heims with his SPC Batteries powered car. Kevin Siller was able to hold off Zack Myers to take TQ by less than 1 sec. with Tom Heims getting his car dialed and qualifying 3rd. 8 cars made the main and there was some good side by side racing. Tom Heims and Bill Gumbert had the back-and-forth battle of the day for 1st with Tom taking the lead from Bill in the last few laps and winning. Jim Mazurek had an impressive race and beat Kevin Siller by 8/10 sec. to take 3rd.
Notes from the day
------------------
The friendly atmosphere in the pits continues to make Glenwood one of the nicest places to race. Thanks to everyone for making it so enjoyable. Everyone cooperated to make the show run like clockwork. It was good to see Bill Defranco with a stadium truck and getting into electric racing. Dave Craiglow continues to improve each week. Cory Pulliam and Dan Black both made impressive debuts with their first weeks out this season. We’ll miss Fred and Chet Kelsey in the weeks to come and hope they can make it back soon with more of our Northern friends. All of the Slash driver getting into race mode made for some great racing. I’m still impressed with how competitive and how much of a bargain these trucks are out of the box. Thanks again to everyone and have a Happy Thanksgiving.
doctordrew 12-02-2008, 12:53 PM We hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. The turnout was great considering it was a holiday weekend and it looked like everyone had shaken off their turkey comas. The attendance was noteworthy as we had a few new racers, including several kids and our first woman racer in a while. Ryan Schwin, Mike Hopcia and Josh Horton all did well in their first races and I was impressed with how they handled themselves on the drivers stand and around the track. These kids are the future of our sport and we could all take a lesson from them. Janice Heims is following her husband Tom’s example in stadium truck. Give her a few weeks and she’ll be beating all of us. It was good to see the guys from All About Hobbies back out. We even had a Charlie Miller sighting this week.
2WD Buggy
---------
It was Kyosho’s turn to dominate 2WD buggy this week with Scott Cimato taking TQ and Doctor Drew qualifying 2nd. Drew was able to jump out in front of Scott on the first lap and maintain his lead throughout the race with Scott taking 2nd. Rick Siller held on for 3rd. This was a very clean race as positions were set in the 1st minute and remained that way for the next 6.
4WD Open
--------
It was attack of the wheel nut gremlins in 4WD. At least 3 cars had wheels fall off during a race. Dennis Heims was able to lay down 20 laps iwith his B44 in the 1st round of qualifying and no one came close after that. Mark Smith is getting his Kyosho dialed and qualified 2nd. Everyone was stepping it up as the top 6 drivers were separated by a total of 6 sec. The race of the day came in the 4WD C main. Milkman and Steve Campbell were closely matched and swapped lead several times in the last 5 laps with Milk taking the win and bump by 5 sec. BQ Kevin Siller broke in the first lap of the B main allowing Kyle Inman to get out front and hold off Scott Cimato to bump into the A main. Milkman continued his impressive drive by finishing 3rd. The A main shaped up to be a battle of the brands with 3 AE and 3 Kyosho cars in the race. TQ Dennis Heims had the lead for ¾ of the race until that gremlin struck. THE B44 piloted by Brian Bellinger came out on top after he worked his way thru the field. Dan Bach’s and Doctor Drew’s ZX5s came in 2nd and 3rd.
Stadium Truck
-------------
A full field of stadium trucks were out this week. Dan Bach was able to get 19 laps to take the TQ. Kevin McNerny had a truck back out and qualified 2nd with Tom Heims 3rd. Shawn Richards recent trips have paid off with him qualifying in the tough A main. Mike Carey started to establish himself as the “Bump Up King” by winning the C main after Jim Mazurek’s tranny let him down. Janice Heims finished 2nd. Ryan Bossert tried keeping up with Mike Flemming in the B main but Mike was able to stay out front and take the win. Charlie Miller ended up 3rd. Kevin McNerny had a rough start falling to last allowing Dan Bach and Tom Heims to drive away. Dan was able to maintain his lead the whole race and beat Tom by 9 sec. Kevin was able to drive back thru the field to take 3rd.
Slash
-----
The Slash class had quite a variety of drivers. Tom Heims took the TQ and Kevn Siller was able to hold onto 2nd by 0.3 sec as Brian Bellinger dialed in his new Slash to qualify 3rd. “King” Mike Carey won the C main over Eric Schwin by a lap. Mike Hopcia and Josh Horton had a close battle with Mike taking 3rd. After Jim Peterson broke, Mike Carey took another bump by also winning the B main in a close battle with Josh Lord and Jim Mazurek. Tom Heims started the A main in front and stayed in front of Kevin Siller the whole race to take the win. Kevin finished 2nd and Mark Smith beat Brian Bellinger by 2 sec. for 3rd.
Slash Dash for Cash
----------------
The Dash is coming to be a great way to end the evening. Image, 6 cars, 15 laps and no marshals with everyone starting against the back wall. The middle double was the equalizer this week with 4 cars ending up on their lids and 1 on the pipe. Doctor Drew was able to navigate his way through the roadblocks to stay upright the whole 15 laps to win the Dash. The funniest part was seeing 4 Slashes on their lids rocking in unison as the drivers revved the wheels trying to turn over like a bunch of turtles.
Notes from the day
------------------
The biggest part of the day was seeing all of the new drivers. I hope the Slash continues to introduce new people to racing so tell anyone you know to come on out. The kids, both young and old did great. It was good to see Janice Heims as a rose amongst all of us thorns on the drivers stand. Mike Carey shows that a bit of practice means a lot as he bumped up 3 times and ran a total of 5 races. Shawn Richard is always improving in Stadium Truck and Mike Flemming is adjusting from the oval to quaify his truck well. The battle is heating up between AE and Kyosho in the buggy classes and it’s good to see different cars being competitive. I think Brian Bellinger’s new speed secret is to get his B44 as noisy and squeaky as possible to scare everyone else away. Next week it will be louder than the belt sander.
Thanks agin to everyone who came out and we hope to see you all again soon.
Scott54 12-11-2008, 12:34 PM Attack of the wheel nut gremlins!!!:lol::lol:
Results from 12/6
Well the snow is here but the weather was nice and we had another great crowd. The crew from up North and our usual contingent from PA joined us. There was some really close racing in all of the classes.
2WD Buggy
---------
Well the Associated drivers weren’t going to let the Kyosho guys get away with too many weeks of dominance. Chet Kelsey continues to own the 2wd class with his B4. He took TQ with the only 19 lap qualifier. Zack Myers had an excellent run with his RB5 by qualifying 2nd and John Summach was able to get a handle on the track and start 3rd. The B main had BQ Rick Siller fall back in traffic which allowed Jay Lovegrove to take the lead. Jay was able to hold the lead for ¾ of the race until Rick caught back up and got in front for the win. Chet Kelsey started his B4 in the A main up front and drove away with the race. The rest of the field got caught up in the 2nd lap allowing Rick Siller to get thru the pack in 2nd and hold off the pressure of John Summach the rest of the race. B4s took the top 2 positions with RB5s taking the next 3.
4WD Open
--------
4WD is so competitive the top 6 drivers qualified within 5 seconds of each other. Dennis Himes TQed by 1 sec. over Brian Bellinger with Rick Redmin starting 3rd. The C main had a great battle between Randy Tredway and Zack Myers where Randy took the lead in the last lap and win by less than 1 sec. Zack and Jay Lovegrove had a good battle in the B main with Zack finishing out front. Rick Siller held onto 3rd. The A main was so close that 1 bobble and you went from 1st to last. The top 4 drives finished a total of 4 sec. apart. Brian Bellinger and Dennis Himes were battling out front until Dennis bobbled. Brian held onto the lead for the win, Dan Bach worked thru the field for 2nd and Rick Redmin finished 3rd.
Stadium Truck
-------------
With Tom Himes misplacing his truck (don’’t ask) it was the Dan and Dan show with Bach taking TQ and Black starting 2nd. Brandon Oddo continues to improve and won the C main over Fred Johnson, who is another improving driver. BQ Jay Lovegrove started out front and took the B main for the bump into the A. Ryan Bossert drove a good race to finish 2nd and Brandon held on for 3rd. The A main finished the way it started but there was a lot of action in between. Dan Bach started out front for the win. Dan Black fell back early but worked his was back thru the field for 2nd. Rick Redmin was able to get in front of Anthony Muscato in the last lap to take 3rd.
Slash
-----
The Slashes are getting dialed with Tom Himes taking top position with the first 18 lap qualifier. Kevin Siller started 2nd and Zack Myers 3rd. All 8 cars started the main and the driving was real competitive. Brian Bellinger took the win, Tom Himes 2nd and Zack Myers 3rd.
Slash Dash for Cash
----------------
All 8 cars entered the Dash. Everyone learned from last week and all but 2 cars were still on their wheels at the end of the 15 laps. Zack Myers was the most consistent and took the win.
Notes from the day
------------------
It’s always a good time when we get visitors from Canada (or anywhere else for that matter.) The atmosphere in the pits was very friendly with everyone sharing setup tips. We hope to see more of you this season. Dan Black did great in stadium truck considering he was driving an old school Losi. Watch out when he gets a new truck. Good new is Tom Himes found his stadium truck and will be out in full force next time. It’s good to see Kevin Peterson with a new ZX5 competing in 4WD and Randy Tredway is getting his car dialed in. I’m impressed with how good everyone is getting and the racing gets closer each week. Best thing was it appeared everyone had a good time.
Thanks again to everyone who came out and we hope to see you all again soon.
Results from 12/13
We had the best turnout to date this season. Mike Barrett and Paul Nam made the trip up as well as our usual contingent of racers. Our younger contingent of Mike Hopcia and Josh Horton also came to race.
2WD Buggy
---------
2WD seems to be dominated by the out-of-towners. Paul Nam adjusted to the track and took TQ while Mike Barrett qualified 2nd. Local Justin Williams started in the 3rd position. The B main was a good race between Rick Siller, the Milkman and Mark Smith with Rick taking the win and bump. Mike Barrett was able to get ahead of Paul Nam in the first lap and held the position the whole race to take the win by 2 sec. over Paul. Justin Williams had a bumpy start but was able to work his way back to 3rd.
4WD Open
--------
The 4WD competition is so good that a 20 lap qualifier didn’t even guarantee an A main spot. The top 6 drivers all had 20 laps and were within 3 sec. of each other. Rick Redmin was able to out qualify Justin Williams by 2/100 of a sec. to take top spot and Cory Pulliam got the 3rd position by 4/100. Mark Stetzel was able to hold off rookie 4WD driver Chicken for the win in the D main. The C main had Kevin McNerny jump out front on Rick Siller who kept it close the whole race but just couldn’t get past Kevin. The B main was the closest driving of the day with 4 drivers finishing on the same lap. Mike Barrett started out in front but was passed by Doctor Drew a 1/3 of the way into the race. It was a close battle with Drew holding onto the win over Mike by less than a sec. Bump up Kevin McNerny was able to move up to 3rd. Rick Redmin had one of the most consistent drives in the A main starting out front and staying there for the win. Dan Bach worked his way to 2nd early and Dennis Himes moved up to 3rd in the last few laps.
Stadium Truck
-------------
Qualifying was close in stadium truck with Cory Pulliam taking the pole, Dan Bach getting the 2nd qualifying position and Tom Himes 3rd. The C main was a close battle with the lead swapping back and forth between Brandon Oddo and Nick Reger. Brandon moved out front in the last 3 laps for the win. Kevin McNerny and Brian Bellinger with a Losi (what some people will do for a ride..) had a close race in the B main. Kevin finished in front by 4 sec. to take the bump into the A. Mark Stetzel fell back but was able to work his way up to 3rd. Cory Pulliam and Dan Bach started out 1 and 2 in the A main and held those positions to the end with Cory taking the win. The move of the day goes to Paul Nam. Paul was in 4th behind Rick Redmin but right on his bumper the last half of the race. Paul waited till the last corner to make an inside move on Rick and hit the throttle to take 3rd by 6/100 of a sec. The crowd went wild watching the race.
Slash
-----
There were a lot of Slashes out with Tom Himes taking the pole position and Brian Belliger starting second. Chicken came out with a new Slash and was able to win the B main over Jim Masurek. Josh Horton finished a respectable 3rd. 8 trucks started the A main with Brian Bellinger and Tom Himes swapping the lead most of the race and Brian coming out on top. Kevin Siller jumped out front early and was able to hold onto 3rd.
Slash Dash for Cash
----------------
9 trucks entered the Dash this week but only 2 kept on their wheels by the end. Tom Himes was able to work his way thru the fallen cars to take the win, Kevin Peterson drove smooth and steady for 2nd.
Notes from the day
------------------
The competition this year is off the hook. We haven’t even started points yet and we’ve had some of the closest racing I’ve seen in a while. It’s tough to recover from even 1 bobble. Like Drew said, it’s time for a layout change to shake things up a bit. It was good to see Chicken with a new Slash and glad to see he caught the 4WD bug. Kevin Peterson continues to improve each week with his ZX5 and Dave Craiglow with his B44. It’s great to see Josh Horton and Mike Hopcia make it back out again and getting better each race. Paul Nam and Mike Barrett always raise the level of competition when they visit. Glad to see Tom Himes found his truck so Janice could race with us.
Thanks again to everyone who came out and we hope to see you all again soon.
Happy Holidays Everyone! There was a good turnout considering it was the race before Christmas. The new layout added to the challenge this week but everyone seemed to adjust quickly.
2WD Buggy
---------
Zack Myers had his RB5 flying in qualifying with the only 19 lap run and Justin Williams qualified his B4 in the #2 spot. The impressive run was Rick Redmin with his old school RC10 buggy. He was only 1 lap off the pace which was great considering the age of the car. Zack and Justin had a good battle in the main with Zack leading the 1st half of the race. Justin was finally able to get around Zack and held the lead for the win. Rick Siller finished 3rd.
4WD Open
--------
Dennis Himes had his B44 dialed this week and was able to take the top qualifying spot in front of Justin Williams by 3 sec. The C main saw a good back-and-forth battle between Rick Siller and Steve Campbell. They swapped the lead a few times before Rick was finally able to get out front for good and take the win. Randy Tredway finished 3rd. Kevin McNerny and Rick Redmin had the closest finish of the day. Rick kept on Kevin’s bumper the whole race but Kevin was able to hold his position and finish 3/10 sec. in front of Rick. After taking the bump, Rick Siller was able to finish 3rd. Dennis Himes was able to maintain his cool through the whole A main with only a few laps over 15 sec. He started in front and stayed there the whole race to take the win. Justin Williams and Kevin McNerny had a good battle for 2nd. Justin was able to take the #2 spot in the middle of the race and kept applying the pressure to Dennis to no avail.
Stadium Truck
-------------
We had another full field of stadium truck. The Losi trucks were putting in a strong showing. The qualifying order was Brian Bellinger, Tom Himes and Cory Pulliam all with 19 laps. Brandon Oddo won the C main and took the bump. Janice Himes continues to improve and took 2nd. The B main was the battle of the Losi’s with Dan Black starting out front and finishing in front of Anthony Muscato by 3 sec. for the win. The A main was the closest race of the day with the top 4 drivers finishing on the same lap. Dan Black carried over his success from the B main and was able to work thru the field to take the win by 2 sec. over Brian Bellinger. Cory Pulliam was a close 3rd just a sec. behind Brian.
Slash
-----
The Slashes drove a bit differently on the new layout with Tom Himes taking the TQ spot. Zack Myers qualified 2nd just 1 sec. in front of Kevin Siller. Dennis Himes and Mike Carey were able to take the 1 and 2 spots in the B main to bump up to the A. The A main seemed like everyone was driving to the mall for that last minute gift, just no mercy. Dennis Himes was able to get thru the field for the win with Zack Myers and Allan Tanski having a close battle for 2nd and 3rd.
Notes from the day
------------------
It was another good day spent with friends and everyone was looking forward to the holidays. Rick Redmin’s old school RC10 buggy held up well and ran some good times. I think it’s time to schedule a “vintage” race. It also seems like the Losi trucks are holding their own.
Thanks again to everyone who came out and we hope to see you all again soon.
Well the holidays brought out the racers as we had the biggest crowd yet. It was good to see some people bring out their new Christmas presents. There were a few new cars and some new equipment in the pits. Thanks to the guys from the Rochester area making the trip to the track, there was even a Nelson sighting. It was also great too see several new guys giving racing a try.
2WD Buggy
---------
Kyosho RB5s dominated qualifying with Zack Myers taking TQ, Doctor Drew 2nd position and Scott Cimato 3rd. Fortunately Dan Black had his B4 out to help the Associated cause. Zack and Drew were battling for the lead during the first part of the race while Dan was working his way thru the field. Dan was finally able to get around Zack and Drew and held onto the #1 spot for the win. Drew was able claim 2nd and Zack finished a solid 3rd.
4WD Open
--------
4WD racing had become the popular class with 25 cars and everyone keeps improving each week. A lot of the racers saved their best qualifier for the last round with the top 12 guys getting 20 laps. Dennis Himes was able to set TQ early and kept it thru the final round. Brian Bellinger was 1 sec. behind for the 2nd spot and Kevin McNerny had a great last qualifier to take the 3rd spot. The Milkman and Randy Tredway had a close battle in the E main with Milk keeping his composure and taking the win. Milkman continued his run in the D main working thru the field and giving Mark Stezel a run for the lead. Mark was able to stay in front for the win with Milk 2nd just 1 sec. in front of Kevin Siller. The C main finished close to the way it started with Kyle Inman taking the win and Dan Black a close 2nd. Zack Myers finished on the same lap in 3rd. The 4WD B main was the race of the day with all 6 drivers finishing less than 8 sec. apart. Positions kept switching every other lap. Kyle Inman made the best of his bump up to also win the B main. Bihn Quan finished a close 2nd and Dan Black worked his way up to 3rd. The A main started with a change in most drivers position after the first lap. Dennis Himes stayed out in front but Brian Bellinger fell all the way back to 5th. Kevin McNerny fell back to last at the beginning of the race but had a good battle with Cory Pulliam and moved into the 3rd spot on the last lap. Brian picked his way thru the field and was able to catch up and pass Dennis half was into the race. Dennis kept applying the pressure but Brain was able to maintain his lead for the win with Dennis finishing on the same lap in 2nd.
Stadium Truck
-------------
There were 3 full heats of stadium truck with Cory Pulliam taking TQ spot with the only 19 lap qualifier. Tom Himes and Kyle Inman qualified less than 1 sec. apart to take 2nd and 3rd position. The C Main saw Brian Baumeister adjusting to electric and taking the win over Bill Defranco. Jim Mazurek finished on the same lap in 3rd. Shawn Richards started the B main out front and was able to stay there until Mark Stezel was able to overtake him mid-race. Mark stayed kept his lead for the win with Shawn only 2 sec. behind for 2nd. Nick Reger finished a respectable 3rd. The A main ended much like it started with Cory Pulliam taking the win over Tom Himes by ½ a lap. Kyle Inman maintained his position for 3rd place.
Slash
-----
The Slash class is a good mix of new and experienced drivers. Tom Himes was able to get in another 18 lap qualifier to take TQ. Brian Bellinger qualified in the 2nd spot and Shawn Richards stepped up his game to take the 3rd spot. 4 year old Kyra Bach, co-driving with his dad Dan, was able to win the B main. Kevin Peterson was able to hold on to 2nd place and Bill Defranco worked his way thru some early traffic to take 3rd. The A main finished much like qualifying with Tom Himes, Brian Bellinger and Shawn Richards taking the 1 – 3 spots. These guys have learned that clean and smooth is the way to win in Slash.
Notes from the day
------------------
4WD just keeps getting more exciting each week, 20 laps was only good enough to get you in the C main so a sec. here or there really counts. Zack Myers had an almost perfect lap in 2WD with a 14.4. He keeps doing that and we are all in trouble. Mark Stetzel took the bump-up award doing it in both 4WD and Truck. It was great to have 3 qualifiers of Slash, we hope more people come out to give this class a try. Anthony Muscato continues to do well in 4WD with his XXX-4, image what he could do with a real car. The elevation change on the back straight is a blast. It’s a riot seeing wheelies half way down the track. Again, it was great so see the guys from Rochester and PA who took the extra time to come race. It was also nice to see some new people giving the racing thing a try.
Thanks again to everyone who came out and we hope to see you all again in the New Year. Remember, points start next week!
Happy New Year everyone. The first race of the new year was a good one and also marked the start of the 2009 Indoor Points series. There was a great turnout and close racing in all of the classes.
2WD Buggy
---------
The guys from PA dominated qualifying again with Mike Barrett taking TQ and Paul Nam the 2nd position. Dan Black was able to qualify in the 3rd spot. The race ended close to how it started but there was a lot of excitement in between. Half way into the race Dan was able to work his way to the lead position. Mike was able to take back the #1 spot a few laps later and stayed there to win the race. Paul was working his way back up from 3rd and kept applying the pressure to Dan. Paul was able to get by Dan in the final lap to take 2nd with Dan 0.4 sec. behind in 3rd.
4WD Open
--------
4WD qualifying was exciting as usual but Dennis Himes and Justin Williams really laid it down by getting 21 laps. They both averaged under 14.8 sec. for all 21 laps with Justin taking TQ and Dennis just 1 sec. behind. Kevin McNerny was happy to be back to a B44 and qualified 3rd just missing 21 laps by 0.2 sec. Kevin Peterson got his ZX5 dialed and was able to win the D main in front of Chicken. Kevin Siller and Anthony Muscato had a great back-and-forth battle for the C Main. Anthony passed Kevin in the last lap but a final corner bobble allowed Kevin to take the win by 2 sec. Dan Black had a bad start in the B main and fell from 1st to almost last. Doctor Drew was able to take the lead but fell back at the end of the race. Dan Bach was able to take the lead at the mid-point and maintained it for the win. Dan Black was able to work his way back thru the field for 2nd. The A Main saw Dennis Himes get by Justin Williams on lap 3 and maintain his lead on Justin the rest of the race for the win with Justin taking 2nd. The rest of the field was a see-saw battle with Brian Bellinger able to take the #3 spot at the end.
Stadium Truck
-------------
Stadium truck is getting as close as 4WD with the top 5 drivers qualifying with 19 laps. Cory Pulliam was able to claim the #1 spot with Paul Nam and Tom Himes 2 and 3. Brandon Oddo was able to win the C main over Kevin McNerny. Rick Redmin and Ryan Bossert started and finished the B main in the 1st and 2nd spots. Rick Siller dusted off the T4 and was able to finish 3rd on the same lap. The A main was a close battle between the top 3. Tom Himes was able to get in the lead spot early and maintain it for the win. Paul Nam and Cory Pulliam had a tight battle for the #2 spot with Paul getting by Cory with a few laps to go to finish 2nd.
Slash
-----
There was another great turnout for Slash. Tom Himes was the only one to get 18 laps to take TQ. Allan Tanski had a great qualifier to place 2nd and Kyra/Dan Bach qualifying 3rd. The Kevins, Peterson and Siller, were able to finish 1-2 in the B main and bump up to the A. The A main was a good battle with Tom Himes backing up his TQ to take the win. Kyra/Dan Bach were able to hold onto 2nd and Allan Tanski had a solid race to take 3rd.
Notes from the day
------------------
it was great to see Mitch Harmer out with his new 4WD. He will be in the heat of the battle in a few weeks. The SPC Batteries team of Tom and Dennis Himes were dominant this week winning 3 of the 4 classes. Allan Tanksi and Kevin Peterson are really getting their Slashes dialed in and the results show it. It’s always a good time when Paul Nam and Mike Barrett drop in to race. This season’s points battle should be a good one with all of the classes so competitive.
Thanks again to everyone who came out and we hope to see you all next week.
Well these's no racing this week so at least you can review last week's results. We had a good crowd the week before the Mid-West Electric Champs race. Looks like everyone wanted to get in some last minute practice.
2WD Buggy
---------
It was a light field this week but the big note was Keith Billanti out with a RB5. Qualifying and the mains were consistent with Justin Williams taking the TQ and win, Dan Black as #2 and Keith #3.
4WD Open
--------
4WD was another great battle this week. Kevin McNerny got his B44 dialed in to take the TQ spot and Brian Bellinger qualified 2nd just 0.1 sec in front of Justin Williams. The D main was a tight race with Kevin Siller, Steve Campbell and Randy Treadway close together the whole race. Kevin was able to finish in front of Steve by less than a sec. with Randy finishing just 3 sec behind the leaders. The C main saw Jason Wruck keep his #1 starting spot all the way to the finish with Kevin Siller and Ryan Bossert a close 2nd and 3rd. The B main started and finished in the same order with Dan Black keeping his #1 spot and Rick Redmin finishing 2nd. Kevin McNerny made the best of his lead position in the A main by staying in 1st the whole race. Justin Williams kept applying pressure but was not able to get by Kevin and finished 1 sec. behind in 2nd. Dan Black made the most of his bump up to finish 3rd.
Stadium Truck
-------------
Truck is getting as popular as 4WD and had 4 heats. Cory Pulliam drove his T4 to the TQ spot with a blistering 20 laps. Dan Bach and Brian Bellinger qualified 2nd and 3rd. The D main had Janice Himes win her first race keeping ahead of Fred Johnson who took 2nd. Shawn Richards drove away with the C main by over a lap with Brandon Oddo taking 2nd. Time Himes and Anthony Muscato kept in front of everyone else in the B main to finish 1 – 2. The A main saw some early breakage but Cory was able to maintain is #1 spot for the win. Tom Himes drove thru the field for 2nd and Rick Redmin was close behind in 3rd.
Slash
-----
The Slash class continues to grow with 3 full heats. Tom Himes continued his dominance by taking TQ. Brandon Oddo stepped it up to qualify 2nd and Steve Campbell qualified 3rd. The new format seemed to work out well. Dan Clinch won the C main with Dana Speta having a great race to finish 2nd. Dan took advantage of the bump up to drive thru the field and also win the B main with Randy Treadway close behind in 2nd. Steve Campbell really put the pressure on Tom Himes the whole A main but Tom was able to stay out front for the win. Steve was able to stay in front of Cory Pulliam for 2nd while Cory took 3rd.
Notes from the day
------------------
2Wd is little light but all of the other classes continue to grow. I’m pleased to see how competitive all of the mains have become. There are close battles in every race and it’s the whole field instead of a few guys. Everyone is benefiting from the close competition at Glenwood and stepping up a level. It was good to see Keith Billanti out with the new Kyoshos. I feel the Slash class benefits from the new format, it seems everyone is trying to drive clean and have a good race while still being able to swap a little paint. Mrs. Bellinger’s cookies and brownies were a big hit, get yours early next week.
Thanks again to everyone who came out and we hope to see you all soon.

It was good to see a bunch of the guys back after their adventures at the Mid-West Electric Champs. It was a good day of racing.
2WD Buggy
---------
Justin Williams was dominant again in qualifying with 20 laps, better than a number of 4WD efforts. Justin also won the A main 2 laps in front of Doctor Drew. Mike Carey and Scott Cimato had a good back and forth battle for 3rd with Mike ending up ahead at the end of the race.
4WD Open
--------
Dennis Himes had another great qualifier as the only one with 21 laps to take TQ. Kevin McNerny and Justin Williams were right behind in the 2 and 3 spots. The C main saw Kevin Peterson applying the pressure to Rick Siller for the lead but Rick was able to stay in front for the win. Rick Redmin led most of the B main to take the win but the battle of the race was for 2nd with Keith Billanti, Rick Siller and Doctor Drew. Keith prevailed to take 2nd by a close margin and Rick took 3rd. The A main was a 3-way battle between Dennis Himes, Kevin McNerny and Dan Bach. The lead switched a few times with Dennis taking the #1 spot with a few laps to go and holding on for the win. Kevin finished less than a sec. in front of Dan for 2nd.
Stadium Truck
-------------
Qualifying in Truck was close with the top 5 drivers getting 19 laps. Rick Redmin was able to take TQ with Cory Pulliam qualifying 2nd and Dennis Himes getting his own truck dialed in for 3rd spot. The C main was a close race with the top 4 drivers finishing on the same lap. Brandon Oddo and Nick Reger kept the race close but Brandon was able to pass Nick with 3 laps to do and finish out front for the win. Ryan Bossert was able to jump from the #4 spot to the #1 spot in the first lap of the B Main race and he didn’t look back. Kyle Inman kept applying the pressure but Ryan stayed cool for the win with Kyle right behind to take 2nd. 4 out of the 6 drivers had the lead at one point during the A main so there was a lot of back-and-forth action. Dan Bach, Tom Himes and Rick Redmin kept the lead pack tight with Dan taking the win by only 0.2 sec. over Tom. Rick was right there only 2 sec. behind for 3rd.
Slash
-----
Tom Himes, Alan Tanski and Brandon Oddo took the top 3 qualifying spot is Slash. Dana Speta stepped it up to take the B main win in a close battle with Steve Kenworthy and Fred Johnson. Tom Himes maintained his #1 spot the whole race to win the A main. Jim Masurek kept it clean and smooth to stay out in front of Kevin Peterson to take 2nd with Kevin ending up 3rd.
Notes from the day

Another great day of racing with friends. It was good to hear the stories from Columbus (some I’m sworn not to repeat) and great to hear how well the local guys did. I was really impressed this week with the continued improvement of the drivers in the lower mains. Guys like Dana Speta, Brandon Oddo, Jim Masurek and Mike Carey have really started to lay down the laps and keep improving each week. You can always expect close racing in all of the mains and no one can take for granted where they’ll qualify. 4 yr. old Kyra Bach is driving his own car so we are seeing the future of racing.
Thanks again to everyone who came out. This coming weekend is the last club race before the 3rd Annual Pro Factory Trophy Race so come on down and join us.
