I haven't got my Invisible dude yet but I was just thinking....could Moebius do an "authentic to the book" Victorian England version too seeing as the story was released in 1897? I don't know the break down of parts but if only a few things need altering so that he appeared to be dressed in Victorian clothing, could that be a good idea to get extra mileage from the moulds without much modification or newly tooled parts?

Do you have a drawing or picture of a victorian type Invisible Man.

What would be the noticable differences?

That would be your challange to make it.

Afraid not but I'll do a bit of searching on Google!

Well I got this description from the novel which sounds similar to the film version which Moebius have given us....

The story starts in the English village of Iping in West Sussex, as curiosity and fear are started up in the inhabitants when a mysterious stranger arrives to stay at the local inn, The Coach and Horses. The stranger wears a long, thick coat, gloves, his face is hidden entirely by bandages, large goggles, and a wide-brimmed hat. The stranger is extremely reclusive and demands to be left alone, spending most of his time in his room working with a set of chemicals and laboratory apparatus, only venturing out at night. He quickly becomes the talk of the village as he unnerves the locals.

but obviously the clothing in the 1930s where the film is set would be different to 1897 so perhaps the long coat would be different, I don't think they would have had turn ups on the end of the trousers in 1897 and I think the tie would be different.

I should imagine the hat, waistcoat and shoes would look different too.

Here's one site with Victorian clothing but the 1890's drawing isn't the clearest. If you click on the mid 1890's family group photograph at the side of it though that's a bit clearer.

For costuming from the same general time period, check out the drawings from "The Strand Magazine" of Sherlock Holmes or screen caps and photos from the BBC series with Jeremy Brett. The BBC has been been incredibly good in its attention to detail in costuming its actors.

Thanks Perfesser! Will do!

I think it could be simulated using the existing kit pieces "simply" by painting brockade fabrics and proper late 19th century houndstooth. The cut isn't terribly different - perhaps just changes in the widths of the lapels and the like.

Would not be hard to do with Aves, and those pics are a good guide.

The pants and shoes more or less work as is for that era but the pants could be altered (heh). The trenchcoat hides the need to add a tailcoat-type jacket, so about all you'd need do is sculpt a high button jacket front, cravat/tie and new shirt collar. A different hat might help, as the top hat doesn't sound quite like what Wells had in mind.

Rent the Louis Jordan DRACULA from Netflix, or TIME AFTER TIME - a variety of the same period costumes are very clearly seen in both.

The hat in the figure is like a 20th century hat, but after that, the figure is ok as is. A bowler or top hat would be better for Victorian.
