Finally! The detail we all have been waiting for in 1/64 scale diecast rides! from opening doors, to interior detail, the M2 line is gaining popularity. I am predicting this line to be the leading player in 2009.

YES!!!

As a collector of practically everything it's been a joy to see a company not only 'raise the bar' but elevate it to heavenly levels! Moving parts, accuracy, detail, METAL, all while keeping the cost comparatively and unbelievably low.

Every year I get discouraged enough to just say "I quit" - but between GL and M2 I have been pulled from the pit of despair :)

Was that to over the top?

While their stock fifties diecast classics are still my favorites, these look good and I will buy them, too.

However, please don't abandon the great fifties cars; the beautifully rendered two-tone color schemes have really set M2 apart and are ahead of everyone else so far.

BluntFronts, Don't worry the Muscle-Cars are going to be a separate line. They with not be in the Auto-Thentics. We will have at least 4 new Auto-Thentics castings before the end of the year. Out of these four the newest car is a 1959.

Thanks,
Sean

Hmmmmm, four newbees huh.. 49 Merc, 50 Olds, 58 Chev , and 59 Caddy. ?

The 50 Olds has to be the most likely , since it's already featured in the artsy fartsy release ( which I now have).

The 49 Merc would be extremely cool. If I'm caught off base on the other two , that would be allright cause they have been overdone a bit too much .

what other 59' would be coming ? drooling for a 59 DODGE, EDSEL, GALAXIE or a PONTIAC

I'm excited about this new muscle car line... except for the fact that there is nothing in it I collect. No Mustangs, no Ford muscle... what about the Torino, Fairlane, or even a Ranchero??? :freak:

I love the M2's, and I also love GL's.

Is it just me or does it seem like both of them are leaning heavily toward the MOPAR castings. Does save me money, though.

These look good , but Im dissapointed in the wheel / tire choice on them . Overused dog dish & redline tires once again ... The Super Bee needs white letters instead of blackwalls . Even a made up name or the company name ' castline' would look better than nothing if royalty money is an issue .... I remember Tonka , Buddy L & others would put their name on tires . It was a nice touch & there is no royaty money to pay out then ...

I somewhat agree, but they do look nice. The Road Runners should have used the black steel wheels with chrome lugnuts without the center cap. I'd like to see these up close. Might get the first set just to check them out. Thanks for the pics Russ.

These look really nice and I am sure the quality is there as I have the other M2 releases and love 'em. I just wish they had chosen different cars to do. These models have been done by just about everybody from Hot Wheels to JL and GL. It would have been nice to see something that hasn't been done already. There are still a number of Musclecars that remain undone in this scale.

I think I will be saving my money .. I have plenty of the same models in my collection . To me , it looks like a 68 grill in that 69 Runner...

I was going to post the EXACT same thing....Practically word for word....When I had heard that M2 was going to do Muscle Cars, I really had high hopes that they would do some more unusual choices, like with the AutoThentics, which, other than the 57 Chevy were cars practically no one else did. I do hope they sell well, but since I already have several of each of these by other companies, none will be coming home with me.

I think most will agree on this. To me, if they had to do a Chevelle, do a 66 as only JL did a 66 and it is pretty awful. As for the Coronet, why not a 68? Nobody has done a 68 yet. As for the Road Runner, well, all years have been represented so, why not do a 70 or 71 Sport Fury, now there would be an unusual subject that would probably sell well. I can think of a few others such as 65-66 442, 65 Buick GS (the 68-69 are to be done by GL and the pic I have seen of the 69 looks like a winner) 68-69 Torino GT, 64-69 Mercury Cyclone, and a host of others. I will probably buy a set of these because I like M2's quality but I sure look forward to more unusual subjects in the future.

Now how about some Full-size musclecars like a 70 Chrysler Hurst 300 and a 70 Plymouth Sport fury GT or S-23.
No one makes these either.

How about some pre-war cars. Hot Wheels are the only mainstream manufacturer to really do them justice, but they've gone and retired a good portion of those castings. I'd love to see a highly detailed Doozy in 1/64.

I agree even though RRs are my all time favorite car I've owned both 68 & 69s and buy almost every RR in every scale plastic and die cast, that is a 68 grill in the 69 also if thats susposed to be an stock 6pk car the hood should be all black also no dogdish caps just plain painted steel wheels, but what really kills it for me is the opening doors IMO they just detract from the overall look in this scale

Heavens to Mergatroid, can you say "Ramchargers?" (Race team, not the cool 4x4.)

Although everyone does muscle, the level of detail and features will justify my buying them. As long as the models keep getting better and the price is reasonable I'll 'upgrade'.

I'll definately buy them if they fit into my collection, but that's hard to do when they aren't making any FoMoCo muscle. I've already got a couple of the Ford's from the 50's that they made and love them.

Maybe it is just me but I have a hard time with the opening doors and those big gaps that just look kinda bad, would prefer non opening doors myself but that's just my opinion.

Thanks,

Clark

Since there are so many casting withOUT openings, I SAY KEEP EVERYTHING OPEN!!!!!!

Those of you who do not like the openings, you already have dozens of makers that do everything closed and I would seriously hate it if you discouraged makers from opening things up.....some of us are hungry for opened castings, particularly those that make an attempt for good quality.

I agree that the detail will probably be excellent, but I'd much rather have castings that have never been done, and make do with castings of these cars that maybe aren't quite as well done.

Having said that, there are some great choices here for possible future releases. Number One on my list would be the 1970 Chrysler 300 (Hurst, Hardtop and Convertible versions). Somebody PLEASE do this car!!!

I know there are many who feel that Mustangs are overdone, but I welcome a Mustang line at this level of detail and quality. they would fit quite nicely into my collection. And....yes, I like the opening panels.

Russ...any chance of a larger photo of the interior shot? The dash looks awesome!

I don't think he has them in hand since those are prototype photos.
Maybe Sean can help with a dash closeup.
