Greetings QSAC racers and Quarter Scale racing supporters-

After thinking about this over the past few days, I would like to propose another thread to the QSAC portion of the HobbyTalk forum.

The first part of my rationale is to take away any possible negative or detracting conversations from track-related threads.

The second part of my rationale is to provide a truly "safe" place for legitimate questions, concerns, and topics to be discussed.

I know we all like to joke and poke fun with one another; it's a great part of the quarter scale community in my opinion. However, I wonder how much we could benefit QSAC and the quarter scale community with a thread as suggested below???

I would like to propose a thread entitled "Straight Talk". This new thread would have some distinct guidelines and rules. The idea is that there would be a truly safe thread to discuss any topic of QSAC and quarter scale racing.

I believe that Hank and the regular users of this forum strive to make these forums accessible and friendly to everyone and anyone. With that in mind I also feel we should still be able to discuss any issues surrounding the hobby, the sanctioning body, and the general condition of quarter scale racing even if they are controversial on a relative scale bigger than our hobby.

With this in mind, I think it should be decided to make this section a humor/joke free area, to protect everyone and to stay on topic rather than joking or getting personal in the dialogue.

If this thread is enacted, please observe this condition strictly. I would also ask that this area be under heavy moderation scrutiny.

Does this seem like a reasonable thread for everyone?

Regards,
Joe

Willy-

Now, I didn't say no one would be offended. ;)

However, each of us has to realize that we alone control how we feel and the manner in which we respond.

If all of us embrace the thread with the intention of providing a forum thread to benefit and have healthy discussions, it will sustain itself.

Joe, what you would need is a full time moderator. I have closed threads that I started myself to provide good information. I closed them due to a hand full of posters trying to hijack them for thier own purpose of clowning. I also had to create a thread just for track/club update information. I close it after each update just so it doesn't take the same turn many of these other threads do.

I prefer a somewhat heated discussion over the type of posting you see here regular. At least a heated topic usually is conducted with hobby passionate dialog. The so called bench racing and fun threads have all but fallen of the 1st page. So a few jump on good threads and screw them up with the same nonsense that the bench threads were meant for.

The only ones that would get offended would be the ones that provoked such of a suggestion as yours and a noble one it is, but again, I don't see it working without a full time moderator.

Hey Joe, good idea, go ahead and start the thread. I'm sure you'll keep everybody on the straight and narrow.

I think the 1/4 scale community is too small. Start spreading out the forums and you will see less traffic due to people thinking nothing is going on. I try to send as many people I can this way. This is by far the best "racing" discussion about 1/4 scale on the web.
