I think the guard rails are heat-warped from sitting in a hot attic or some place that deformed them. I remember a slot car set my uncle had that had some of those steering wheel controlers, but I think it was for a 1/32 or 1/24 track instead.

Cool video!

Great video, shot just like the old time Aurora commercials. I also like the Mannix TV show theme song as the background music.

Thanks for the vids guys!

Tip for old school guard rails: The ribbon and stantion guard rails were often wadded up and packed away...for years.

To remove the wrinkles and squiggles in the rail try boiling some water and then pulling the pot off the stove. Immerse the rails and let them come back right. This doesnt work for all of them. Those that have been folded or kinked are often beyond the powers of hot water.

To restore the bright white color try a little "super clean" on a terry rag.

But of course I was unable to actually watch that show... Was it good?... I only have vague memories of hearing that song as I laid in my crib. nd

nuther, that link caused another session of you tube hypnosis LOL. After your link, an 8 minute video of the Aurora nationals on Steve Allen's What's My Line show popped up, with Stirling Moss, then another video with Stirling Moss and Walter Cronkite- next thing you know it's 1 in the morning. Love the time warps, but don't appreciate the lack of sleep! It's a durn addiction, it is....
