ScottD961 10-01-2008, 07:15 PM Nascar never had a track that went straight up into the air though . Doba, what is a F - O -R - D ? Please explain? roadrner 10-01-2008, 07:59 PM Why do they think loops and wall hanging track is something anyone would want regardless of age? Heck, I didn't like it when Aurora had loops on some of their sets. Those Tjets hardly ever made it, I don't think they ever did, around no matter how long of a lead in straight you'd setup. :freak: rr micyou03 10-01-2008, 08:12 PM Is it HO? The rails look very wide in the picture, like 1/43rd or something. micyou03 10-01-2008, 08:15 PM Its HO. martybauer31 10-01-2008, 08:24 PM Why do they think loops and wall hanging track is something anyone would want regardless of age? Heck, my hot wheels could make a loop every time! :p If you wanted this thing to have more realism, you'd take the right turns out as well. :freak: Grandcheapskate 10-01-2008, 08:44 PM Why do they think loops and wall hanging track is something anyone would want regardless of age? The only way they have any chance of keeping someone interested in the hobby is to produce a nice flat layout that is big enough to handle the (too fast) speed of the cars. Make silly or small sets and the kid is going to get bored real fast. Joe noddaz 10-01-2008, 08:49 PM Shame about the loops and wall climbing though... NTxSlotCars 10-01-2008, 09:48 PM But, Hey, it looks just like the rollercoaster tracks FOX uses on their commercials. If only the track lit up with LEDs. SuperFist 10-01-2008, 10:06 PM "No" is all I got to say about that for obvious reasons. http://i38.tinypic.com/2a6tj4p.jpg __________________ http://www.sloganizer.net/en/style8,SuperFist.png Jim Norton 10-03-2008, 02:29 PM This is an awful set and backs up what was said recently about Racemasters "eating Walthers lunch." Compare this to the Super International or the 4 way Split and it is comical. The people marketing these sets are truly out of touch with slot car racing. I am surprised the cars do not transform into robots! Jim Norton Huntsville, Alabama Mexkilbee 10-03-2008, 03:33 PM You dont need loops, you don't need wall climbing crap, four lane figure eight, one end 6 & 9's the othe 12 & 15's, put one on the back of my friends hallway closet, best fun four of us had on Tuesday nights. (We would Pop the door off the hinges, lay it on the kitchen table, plug in and have a great time). Build one of these tracks and see for your self how much fun it is, how much easier it is to marshall, and pass the join.. .. time racing slot cars AfxToo 10-03-2008, 06:36 PM Tyco used to push these kinds of sets too and I would always cringe when I saw the commercials on TV. They were aiming at the younger kids who wanted something better than a Hot Wheels gravity track. That was perfectly fine because there was actually a market for those types of sets back then. Times have changed. Today the primary market for slot cars is a more experienced crowd with a longer history in the hobby. Today's slot car buyers demand more refined and realistic products that are more in tune with our mature view of a hobby and its relationship to real cars and real racing. We want something a little more akin to what RaceMasters is doing, or even better, we what the 1:32 guys are getting. I think Walthers is still coming to terms with the whole slot car hobby. They are certainly trying, which is fabulous, but they still don't grok the essence of slotcardom. They can get there. A great first step for Walthers would be to treat the current slot car hobby like they treat the serious model railroading hobby. It really is that simple. We don't want the slot car equivalent of a Thomas the Train set. We want collectible quality cars and serious slot car racing quality tracks, and we're willing to pay for the good stuff. I'm thrilled that Walthers is making a go of it. They just need to adapt to the current slot car market and build a product line that is consistent with the needs of their current and potential customer base. Building sets for a market that no longer exists is a waste of their and our time and effort. RaceMasters gets it. Tyco got it to a point, and whatever point that was vanished when Barbie Co. bought out their stock. Walthers has a chance to get pointed in the right direction and deliver the kind of quality the 1:32 guys are getting, but in the HO market. Yeah, just like the serious HO scale model railroaders don't want to step down in quality when scaling down in size. Whether Walthers has the resolve and finances to do what needs to be done is the real question. It's not a huge and growing market. However, the recent improvements in the LL body styling gives me new hope and gains them my support. It's a good first step. It's up to them to take the next steps. Montoya1 10-04-2008, 04:28 AM I got slammed when I pointed out that maybe we don't matter as much to LL as we think, but this set would suggest I could be right. Don't get me wrong, I would love for LL to make stuff we would desire and I too hate the novelty pieces. I think potentially LL could cater more for the like of us, and do well from it, but in the absence of facts about how committed they are to junks items and how much they make from them, I have my doubts. I hope the current dialogue between LL and neorules works out, he knows his onions, and sets like this become a thing of the past. Or I would settle for the crap still being made if there are some items for 'us' as well. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
