View Full Version : New guy, new car recommendation
fstbuik454 09-29-2008, 02:58 PM Hello, I'm looking to buy a new car just for having fun with and maybe racing in some type of amature class next year. I'm on a tight budjet but looking for something to use on dirt oval's. I have always had electric off road buggies and things and would like to stay with electric.
Thanks,
Adam
tweakedt3 09-29-2008, 03:13 PM B3 or B4 would be good. Alot of hopups fot them when you get the cash.
nutz4rc 09-29-2008, 03:23 PM The new Losi 1/10th Slider Sprint Car would work well. $240 and you have car, motor, esc, servo, tires designed for dirt, probably includes one batt and slow charger. I am not certain about the batt and charger but that is how the Losi 1/18th Slider comes. RTR also includes Losi Spetrum radio and receiver.
fstbuik454 09-29-2008, 10:28 PM I'll check those out, thanks for the info
flem1959 10-06-2008, 11:45 AM The 10th slider is way nice.
The 18th late model is more of a toy rc.
nutz4rc 10-06-2008, 12:18 PM We have a large group of 1/18th Sliders and Late Models that are racing competitively. Not toys just small race cars.
Having eight late models within a lap of one another at the end of a five minute race is too much fun.
flem1959 10-06-2008, 12:54 PM See what they run at your local track. They`re all fun.
tittytat 10-06-2008, 02:31 PM if you still have your off road buggy your set. there are plenty of coversions, and or you could just use the buggy. i have my own track and we have used buggies for our edm class for years. we started the class from a magazine article. it is a great starter class and you don't have to spend alot of $ to get racing. but as stated you'll have to find what classes are being run in your area.
roadrashracing 10-06-2008, 05:23 PM A+++ on the big slider
hipsterdufus 10-06-2008, 05:26 PM losi 18th scale is garbage, my mini late model would look better in the trash
go traxxas slash for your first truck
fstbuik454 10-06-2008, 11:21 PM I still have my buggy, it's a about a 1990 or so Kyosho Ultama II with all ball bearings, ESC & upgraded motor.
Tdevil 10-07-2008, 10:01 AM Hard to beat the Slash. We are running them on Off-road and Oval at BFG in Grandville, MI. You can bash it around the yard (they are waterproof and have all metal gear transmissions) and it is still very race capable. I have heard guys on the driver's stand comment more than once that they wish they could get thier race truck (T4 mostly) to handle like the Slash. We have been able to keep it a spec class so far and the competition is so close it makes for great racing fun.

fstbuik454 10-07-2008, 08:24 PM Maybe this is a stupid question but what is the Slash?
Tdevil 10-07-2008, 11:39 PM Traxxas Slash short course truck. Looks like a real truck with the wheels tucked under the body. $200 or a little bit less ready to run. All you need are batteries and a charger to go with it.
