View Full Version : Wal Mart Greenlight? Al Markin 09-26-2008, 08:22 PM I seen on another board, that the Canada WalMarts carry Greenlight, Are we going to have this in the US also? Mikietom 09-26-2008, 09:33 PM Without starting a ruckess I HOPE NOT - NEVER Really - no plans for US wallyworld yet bvis75 09-26-2008, 09:44 PM Greenlights at Wally's is only in Canada. Thank god for that. lol. In the US they are at K-mart and TRU and I think Target still has them rattlehed 09-28-2008, 09:23 AM WalMart Canada stores only. We've already seen a spike in greenies being sold online instead of being found by collectors, that will increase tenfold if USA WMs get them. Between the employees and pallet raiders, very few will fall into the right hands. For now there are no plans for USA WMs to get GL. I for one am happy about that. JasonZ 09-28-2008, 10:47 AM TRU and Target only here Drdealone 09-28-2008, 11:29 AM Wal Mart was chosen by GL to sell their cars in Canada due to their number and location of stores vs TRU. The situation in the USA is much different and the word is that the current distribution by OLDS , TRU, Target and KMart works fine with no need for Wal Mart sales. I hope it stays that way. DrDeal astroking2 09-29-2008, 12:24 AM I agree 100% with what has been said. Greenlight at Wal-mart here would be a huge mistake. DrDeal I would be in favor of Walmart carrying GL. We don't have a Kmart and our TRU and Target won't carry any of the 2 or 5 paks. Our TRU has very slow turnover of their stock. When our TRU sells out, it's WEEKS before we see new ones. LILCOZ2048 09-29-2008, 11:08 AM Walmart wouldn't be bad if, they get there own Line like Target with the Speed Channel. And a few MCG's series. This will still keep the collectors chasing the cars that they want. I think it would be away to get some more sets that we want to see like Country Roads or City Living ( Would Be a great Set, I forgot who came up with that Idea.. Pizza Driver Car.. ) Hell give them Auction Block.. Might not be a bad thing at all.. dragonhead00 09-29-2008, 11:44 PM This just means no Green Machines for WM employees...... HA!:woohoo: rattlehed 09-30-2008, 11:28 AM This just means no Green Machines for WM employees...... HA!:woohoo: Pree-cisely! Cletuss 09-30-2008, 03:35 PM Not to stir the stew but I would think that there is potential for pallet raider employees to be in all departments stores that sell toys not only Wallys. Bingo. rattlehed 09-30-2008, 03:56 PM The problem is not only the employees. Walmart freight is hauled out onto the floor every night at 9:30pm. Said freight(cases of JL,HW,potentially GL) sits on the sales floor unattended until 11pm when the evening stock shift starts opening the boxes. ANYONE, not just employees can walk up and rip open the cases when no one is looking. Cases containing chase pieces should never be left in the open during business hours because scalpers WILL figure it out. A lot of WMs are 24hr which means there is never a time to restock without potential case picking going on. NOT good for collectors that rely on a REAL job to pay for their hobby. WM employs a LOT of people. Chances of one of those folks being a collector(Star Wars,HW,TRA)or knowing someone who will be more than happy to give them a full on education on what to look for is good. Big mouth customers explaining EXACTLY what they are looking for is a free education for any employee that knows how to use a computer and google up ebay, ie"look for the green stripe)etc. Customers and stockers shouldn't mix, it happens more at WM than any other store. One of our local big mouth collectors was trying to get in good with the toy lady at our local WM, she now picks out the good stuff and leaves us the scraps, happens all the time. All in all, to get anything chase at a WM, you have to go at night, and sneak around. If you don't have to resort to that at your local WM you are LUCKY. Al Markin 10-02-2008, 07:54 PM I'm very pleased with the current TRU and K-Mart selections! Drdealone 10-02-2008, 08:43 PM The problem is not only the employees. To compete at WM you need to pallet raid and stoop to their level. That's not fun for most people. 92% of WM's have the "Insider" tapping cases prior to cars hitting the shelf. DrDeal Inciteful 10-02-2008, 10:20 PM Honestly even though my only outlets around me are a Target (which hardly gets anything new in) and a TRU (lucky shot now and then), I'll stick with their current distribution plan for the US. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
