hey all: I know novak, lrp and tekin speedos will be allowed for the '08/'09 oval season so why don't we allow novak, lrp and tekin brushless motors as well? I know this may open up a can of worms in terms of the motor of the moment, but it'd be nice to see others have a shot? Thanks :)

Try investigating the BRL rules and you might have your answer.

It's important to show up once every two months to start a thread asking about the other motors and one asking about 12th scale as well. :drunk:

Do you ever post anything with out being so negative.........:drunk:

Actually Pat makes a lot of posts that aren't negative. He's probably just tired of the people who won't stop beating this dead horse (allowing other motors).

It's interesting that B-man777's post asks why "we don't" allow other motors. The BRL isn't a member driven organization where the racers make the rules. "We" don't vote on the rules. Sonny makes the rules and racers decide whether they want to race under them. Sonny's explained his position on motors any number of times. If enough racers want to run under Sonny's rules; he has a successful series. If not, he gets poor turnouts. Your "vote" is whether you attend or not. Given the number of entries he's had at all his races, I don't think he's worried that his motor rules hurt turnout.

Nope, it's very rare :p

The reason for my negativity in this case is that this person has started seven (yes SEVEN) separate threads asking about the other brands of motors and speedos. Not only that, but this year Sonny is allowing other brands of motors, which if this person had bothered to read the rules before posting he'd know. Check the threads started by this person. It's funny.

Trust me there is room to be far more negative than I have been so far!

Thanks Chuck!

I believe that allowing NOVAK motors only is a valiant attempt at keeping track owners open for at least one more year. However, it seems that the majority (by reading these threads) is set on destroying this hobby for good. Sorry, but you just don't get it...even after the countless threads that defend the reason for it. There really isn't anything else to say. RIP oval.

Now that other motors are roar legal, they should be allowed.
I know most could care less for roar, but it has been the standard for ever.
At least there is SOME kind of standard to adhere to. Yes I know that Noak is great, no disrespect to them at all. More manufactures, better pricing will be!
Better future products will become…

This of course is assuming that there are enough oval racers and tracks left for the manufacturers to bother making better products for. My crystal ball sees bad things. lol. Coming home, Nick?

guys you can point fingers at sonny for holding onto novak only...

but geez with the economy in the toilet why make guys on a shoe string budget have to run out and buy a new motor? look you all run the same motor...it's cheap and the racing should be close...

let me tell you a short story...in florida we have always used one motor the ultra bird and we have been laughed off the face of the planet for it! it worked for us,it was cheap and mike boylan always had a ton to sell....

now we went brushless and have been running 10.5 novak only 4 cell for two years now....

now we have gone 17.5 lipo new charger or upgrade...all new motor(s) and a new tray or chassis for some...$$$$$$$$$$$$

and on top of that the 17.5 class is any roar legal lipo and any roar legal 17.5 motor...

i ran out and bought a hacker motor(looks like a novak 100%) and i'm lucky to be sponsored by smc so i got a 5000 pack

well now trinity has come out with a very trick 17.5 motor

it is 1 ounce lighter
every rotor is 12.3mm (same as novak) and they are all over 1350 on a zubie meter

and fantom sells them for 65.00 on there web site!

now i'm selling the hacker i just bought for 30.00 less than i paid for it! i never ran it!

because for 65.00 my car will lose one ounce of weight and have a super trcik motor!

do i need it? who knows problem is "I" think I need it!

more money spent..and i haven't ran one race yet!

and i hear trinty will have yet more tweaks to there new motor by years end!

moral of the story....... "watch what you wish for"

if trinity wants to pony up for the 17.5 class next year or whatever class maybe just maybe sonny might change from novak to trinity only in a class?

if trintiy starts selling there version of a brushless motor like hot cakes..i can olny imagine what is in store fro us in the coming months...

be super happy sonny puts this thing together....show up support him and have fun while doing it...it is alot no wait it is a ton of hard work on sonnys end..things he does on his days off..all this so we can race toy cars? forget tracks closing...sonny could quit tommorow and just go racing....that would suck...

keep doing what you think is right mr. brown! you are doing one hell of a job!

kat....wow, this nails it.

I think most of the "open motor" guys just want run sponsored product and win so that they can be motor heroes again. When there's no one left maybe they can race with their sponsors. Again, most don't have the foresight or common sense to understand why this crap is bad.

i have been on both sides of this..and sure it's great to get a deal on a motor for 50.00 but that is a small percentage of your racer base..the other guys have to pay retail for there stuff...trust sonny he has been a racer for years and years...and he has had to buy stuff to race with...money is tight......

keep preaching the good word and try to explain "why" in a nice way to keep everyone racing in the series. i miss our series in florida...i just don't miss running the series...lol
