We cannot all find or afford genuine Matchbox store displays so sometimes improvisation can be almost as satisfying.Just pure luck caused me to look in a container outside a kiosk undergoing renovations where I found this wonderful yellow acrylic Lotto form holder.Rotate 90 degrees after a good clean and stack up the Lesneys and I am pleased with how it looks -but I still need to print some kind of Matchbox header to really make it look cool:hat:

Nothin' wrong with that Mick, I think that display is GREAT!!!!
It's even the right color yellow.
Make sure you show us when you get the "Matchbox" logo on'er.
I'm never too proud to dumpster-dive!

How big would the header have to be? I might be able to come up with something but it would be a copy of a copy so the quality might be a little lacking.

Maybe you could zoom up to size a catalog cover of something.

I have about 65-70 lenseys and they are a joy to collect, the detail is remarkable for the 50's to 60's,they are smaller then your average 1/64 casting

Thanks to everybody for the nice words - I hope you will all find a cool shop style display for your own toys in the same gift-of-fate way:wave:
How big would the header have to be? I might be able to come up with something but it would be a copy of a copy so the quality might be a little lacking.

Maybe you could zoom up to size a catalog cover of something.

The perfect size would be the length of a standard sheet of A4 paper with the height of the label equal to half the width of that same sheet in order to retain a dark green border but cover up the Lotto logo.
My first idea is to scan a C box at 1600dpi and then print it to fill a sheet of A4 photo paper and cut it down to size.
The dream solution would be to find ´Matchbox 1-75 series´in red on a yellow background (E or F box typeface) to resize to use up half of a sheet of A4 paper and if MatchboxTom can help me with a 600dpi or greater scan of such a logo I would be most grateful:hat: .
I will look at my rather small box collection, including Kingsize & YY,to see if there is anything cool to enlarge. I only have one regular wheels catalog, the one with the red pre-pro 70a which is useless for header material. But I do have the boxed Build-a-Road set (which was sold in europe contrary to some other collectors opinions) and a scan of part of the art would perhaps look really good on the green background or if I remove the vinyl sticker, the yellow acrylic background.

The display is stashed in a closet where sunshine and dust wont mess the cars -and it is fun re-arranging the display and choosing appropriate cars.I wont do the number order display because there are too many gaps in my collection that will never be filled and only 61 parking places

I have been having fun changing around my cars just a little bit.How easy is it for everybody viewing these 2 pix to name which 3 cars have changed colour shade and one car has been removed and replaced with a different car.
It takes time to find the most pleasing arrangement....

And the changes to the display were Singer van changed to kelly green from pale green,Bedford Ambulance changed from off white with bpw to white with spw,Jaguar Mk2 changed from metallic red with a chip on the roof to mint solid red and a 3rd Caddy Sixty special replaced the yellow Pontiac convertible.
Meanwhile, all the space made by this yellow display and another new 72 car wooden display has given me chance to re-arrange my original cabinet, with the top shelf for all the different Superfast castings I had age 6 to 15 plus a few regular wheels I added in summer of ´77.2nd shelf to the right is the replacements for the 31 regular wheels castings that I had new as a child, 2nd shelf to the left is my Esso garage with mid 1960s rw that dont fit in the yellow display and the bottom shelf is late 1960s regular wheels with a few cars still awaited in the display. My very limited box collection has grown significantly this year, 2008 has been a superb year for finding Lesneys and its not over yet:wave:

Because its designed to be wall mounted the other way up holding LOTTO entry forms! Its amazing what is out there not made for diecast that works well for us..........
Glad everybody liked to look again, these toys bring me so much joy it would be a shame to hide them away like a miser instead of showing them........

AH! but it works so well with old matchbox :) I guess i'll be similiar to you in 30 years with the newer hot wheels (but most of mine will be caged)
