Just got this Dune Buggy in the mail off ebay. It does not fit in the clam shell box. The car was pictured on top of the box. I did not ask the seller if it fit in the box, I just assumed it did. Stupid me. Anyway, did the Dune Buggy come with a different chassis or the tube shaped box? Any info is appreciated.

I believe the gear plate in your pictures says Auto World not Aurora. So, first off, you didn't get a NOS Aurora chassis if that is what was advertised. Since the chassis may be suspect, it is possible that the axles and wheels are repops and a little wider than an all original Aurora set up would be. :dude:

Am I looking at only the top half of the box? Need to look at my own boxes when I get home tomorrow night, but I believe tops and bottoms are not always equally sized/tapered. The most valuable part of the packaging is the intact label. Ol resinmonger is right too. If someone substituted a new aw gear plate, if would have been far easier to sub new shiny wide wheels too. Those wide wheels don't belong on the front anyway, so they have been off the chassis.

That's an old school aurora gear plate....believe it sez "patent applied for" ;)
Tires with sidewalls that extend beyond the rim of the chrome dimple wheels will not fit that box.

Thanks guys. The seller admitted to "someone" changing the rims from yellow to chrome. I like to display my cars in the box, so it did bother me when the car was too wide. I appreciate the help, thanks again!!
