Racing at JAMS starts Saturday, October 4th, 2008. Doors open at 3:00 and racing starts at 6:00.

The details from the Rules Meeting on Saturday are as followed:

Here It Goes-this is what we came up with. Not too many changes.

SPORTSMAN-same as last year-no changes

LEGENDS-same as always-no changes BUSCH-only discussion was about the batteries. Before we up this class to 4600, we want to do some checking and some hot lapping with the different batteries to see how much of a difference it makes. We do not want people tearing down the walls-so this one is still up for discussion-SORRY

LATE MODEL-up to 4600 batteries, we will run 17.5 brushless with the regular late models. If the difference in laps proves to be to great, then we will seperate the brushless and the regular cars. Or do something to even them out. Brushless must run Novak motor-box stock-only thing you can do is shorten the wires-you can not change the wire and the NOVAK GTB speed control.

NASCAR-this will be 13.5 brushless NOVAK motor, NOVAK GTB speed control. Motor is box stock, no changing the wire and 4600 batteries. If you show up with the wrong motor or speed control-you can run one time but no track record, no points, no trophies. Car must have correct motor and speed control the next time you race.

SPRINT CARS-Brushless, Gearbox or Direct Drive, 4600 batteries, 10.5 motor, GTB speed control

SLIDERS-BOX STOCK-we will have replacement batteries, replacement motors, and the ball diff's can be changed because the plastic ones seem to break very easily

ALL RULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE Now the rest of the discussion was about claiming motors, track records, and cheating.

MOTOR CLAIM-if you want to claim someone's motor, you must buy them a new motor and the claimed motor goes to JAMS and will be destroyed. You can only claim a motor in a class that you race and the claim must be done before the next race begins. JAMS has the right to claim a motor at any time.

TRACK RECORDS-Track records must be backed up. So if you break the track record one week, you must break it again the following week. This will stop track records that are happen due to light car count or every one crashing out, etc. If you are illegal in a heat-that heat does not count for qualifing for main event. If you are illegal at the end of a MAIN, you will lose points for that night plus your best points night to date. So if you are cheating, you will lose 2 nights of points. Light on weight will only result in losing your points for that night.

TROPHIES-You must have raced at JAMS at least once in two of the preceding weeks to a trophy night to earn a trophy. For Example-we will have Halloween trophies on Nov 1-you must have raced either Oct 18 or Oct 25 to be able to take a trophy home with you. We will have trophies on Nov 22-you must have raced either Nov 8 or Nov 15. JAMS RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MAKE CHANGES AS WE SEE FIT AND AT ANY TIME WE SEE FIT!!!

Hope this answers everyones questions, but let us know if you have more. Doors will open at 3:00 this year with racing starting at 6:00.

It has been asked that we do points for Junior Sportsman-this will probably be by age, we were thinking up to 10. That way those kids can run their own points, but still race with the regular sportsman drivers. We have not worked out all the details on that, but more info will follow.

Fall Points Season will be from 10-4 to 12-27. The following nights will NOT be points nights, 10-4, 11/1, and 11/22. That leaves a total of 10 weeks-we will take your top 6 nights. That leaves plenty of nights for errors.

I think this covers everything-I will get the website updated this week. Mike will be ordering parts this week and next so let us know if there is something specific you want and we will try to get it ordered. --

FROM JAMS:

I have ordered a new computer!!! Right now it is taking me about 5 -10 minutes just to log on and open my e-mail. The new computer should be here Monday or Tuesday. Hoping it is not difficult to get set up, but I may not have e-mail access for a couple days. So, this Saturday is Trophy nite. It is not a points nite. For trophies, you must have raced 1 of the 2 weeks proceeding a trophy nite. If you win, and do not qualify to accept the trophy, it will be passed on to the 2nd place finisher. I will also have consolation prizes for 2nd and 3rd place. Points-we have had 3 points nites so far. We are only counting 6 nites of the 10. If you have not raced with us yet, you can still miss one more nite before you put yourself behing in the points race. There was a bigger crowd this week and the racing was really close. Lot of drivers driving withing 1 or 2 laps of each other in all the classes. Motors-we are trying very hard to keep all the motors in the cars equal. As we learn more information we will add to the rules. So for the Brushless Nascar the ring on the motor must be orange. The ring on the Brushless Late Model motor is yellow. You cannot have a different color ring. Now-Late Models-All the guys are running brushless, but top laps last nite were 65. So we do feel that a Late Model that is not brushless would not have any problem keeping up. Our old break out rule was 70 for that class and right now-these drivers are topping out at 65. So don't stay away just because you do not have a brushless car. Remember racing starts @ 6:00. We were finished last night around 10:30 pm. Everyone seems to appreciate getting out at a reasonable time. I hope to see everyone on Saturday nite-thanks for the support!!! --

we need more racers in 13.5 nascar class

What a surprise!!! The way the rules are someone from outside of the regular crowd can't race there. The rules were made to make the regulars happy but it appears that they must not like them neither. There are other, better options in the area.

What A Surprise!!!-Z-Main Loser-isn't happy-------The regulars are happy to be racing at JAMS. Everyone is welcomed to come to the fall meetings before the season starts to state their opinions. I think since you don't race there-what you have to say doesn't really pertain to what we race and the rules that we go by. If you would like to come down to race more than once a year- we may take your suggestions into consideration, but until that happens we racers at JAMS are happy with how we run. We try to make our rules universal, but you just can't please everyone.

How do you know this when Jams is the ONLY track that you guys know of out of every track across the country. Let Mickey race somewhere else for once and see how universal the rules are. Just keep this in mind, when and if I decide to ever race there again, the size of the wire on my speedo or anything else you guys can find that is ILLEGAL on my car is NOT the reason I'm 4 or 5 laps faster. Also if anyone is interested, there is a trophy race this sunday at Pete's. Everyone is welcomed to come and win a trophy. Even if its your first time racing there.

Justin you have my # if you feel like continuing making your point.

Z-Main-JAMS is the only track that we do race at because it is the track that we know that you won't be at. We know the size of the wire is not the reason that you are so much faster-it is because you are cheating in some way that we haven't figured out yet. You can expect a call from me-so I can continue to make my point.

I dont think anybody is going to care about your wires Z MAIN, bigger wires are not making any difference in speed, the wires that come on it are the biggest you need, the only thing it does is add wieght to your car. so nobody should say anything. if anybody does than what do you lose......

Well since everybody is crying about the rules then lets get everything out on the table instead of fighting about it. Lord knows that i dont like most of the rules at JAMS, but hell man if you just show up all the time you follow half of the rules right off the bat. So what rules dont you people like anyways, thats the question? Me personaly it should be open speedo and motors just like it was when we all ran brush motors thats the big thing i think. None of this Novak this, Novak that. As long its a ROAR appoved motor or speedo it shouldnt matter. But on the other hand I get why JAMS do what they do to keep everything simple, cheap and box stock. So what does everybody think? Come on dont bit your tongue, speak now or forever hold your peace.

turn4
12-10-2008, 10:40 PM
Oh Delta-You know that I always bite my tongue and hold back any comments. :)

I started talking crap to Z-Main to give him a hard time and it has gotten out of hand a bit. It's as easy as this for everyone- if you have a problem at JAMS talk to the owners-they are the ones that run the place and ultimately decide what rules we go by. Don't forget-EVERYONE was invited down to talk about the rules that they wanted to run this Fall and there ended up only being a few that came. So if you don't come and speak up at these meetings you really can't complain too much.

We "the regulars" enjoy racing at JAMS-we usually have a great time and invite anyone to come join us any Saturday. Even you Z-Main!(like I said earlier-I need your help on my car :) I know how you like to help every time you come down)

Just the biggest problem I have with the place is that someone like myself who is faster than everyone, always has the owners and other racers trying to find things on the car that they think are cheating. The realality of it is that most of the racers including the owners are so outdated about what is new and what is illegal. It just seems like everytime I show up, there is a new rule in place to make me illegal. As far as the trophy race deal goes, I can see the point of not allowing me to race only for the trophy. But at most every track, a trophy race is advertised to bring in races from all over a have a large crowd. You guys do what you want, that is your home track but look at what is happening at other tracks, not just in the area but all over the country.

As far as the rules meeting, it was all of a sudden dated the same day as another tracks big racing activities. Which I and many others were already committed to. That is the other problem. It seems that anytime a local track has a trophy race, Jams has one the same day. It would be great to see Jams work with the other two tracks so that the region as a whole has a lot of good racers. Get a group together and go to Pete's trophy race this sunday. Do the same for Mishawaka's trophy race on Feb. 22. They have a real good sportsman class were the rules are simple and competive. You guys at Jams need to get out some and see what else is out there. Come on J even you dad and brother have been to the other tracks and have done good.

As far as rules go I think open Speedo should be if they choose Novak motors only thats good. This brushless thing has gotten way out of hand.it's just like brush motors use to be.A NEW ONE EVERY MONTH. Thats why certain pepole will Always be faster then others BECAUSE WE"VE BEEN AROUND LONGER. BUT IN ALL REALITY not everybody
can Afford The NEW GOODY OF THE WEEK Thats ware rules and differant class will help
the average JOE P RACER .

I've been racing TOY CARS FOR 25+ YEARS there not many that stay in the sport that long .The average racer last about 2- 5 years a few make it to 10-15 over that vary damm few. I personally enjoy meeting new people I've been lucky enoght to have the funds to do so. I've Raced all over the country all forms ELETRIC AND GAS OFFROAD ONROAD AND OVAL
OVAL you need the best of the the best if you wanna be on TOP .
THESE ARE TOYS CARS theirs no money to be made racing them
JUST BRAGIN RIGHTS
I like all the tracks around here if we don't support them were are we gonna race are little toy cars.If you Don't sombodys rules talk to them about them if they choose not to alter them thats there choice. If you don't like there rules DON'T GO BACK THAT'S YOUR CHOICE.

I hope I did not offend anybody this is just my 2cnts.

No offense Derek, but seriously you don't have to race there. I have no clue as to what brought this on-but you do have to realize that you aren't obligated to race at JAMS. Mickey and I don't race at other tracks because of the fact we race 1 a week. That is plenty. We are happy with where we all 3 race and be 5 minutes from home. We don't go to the other tracks because we feel we can't compete or abide by their rules-we just choose not to go because we don't want to. Don't forget I have a son that loves to race at JAMS- so that is where we go. I know that he is welcomed at JAMS and will have others in his skill level to race with. It's not that we "need to get out more"- we choose to race at one track and that happens to be JAMS. You are sitting here ripping on us because we don't race all of these other tracks-the point of that is?????? You don't have to go to JAMS if you don't want to. I just don't see your point in bad mouthing the program that they run when you race maybe once a year there. I am not trying to p**s you off, but what is the big deal about our rules? You are more than welcomed to come race with us. I don't think that everyone is looking at your car trying to figure out how you are cheating-they are looking at it in awe because you do run alot faster than we do.

Once again Derek-you and anyone else are welcomed to come down and race with us. But you obviously have an issue with the track. Yes we have rules that we go by, but so do other tracks-we don't complain about other track's rules. You just know what they are and if you want to race there you abide by them if not stay home. It's really that easy.

Now I am actually done on here- I get enough of the crying and whining every Saturday from Waylon :) so reading it on here too-is plenty!

I am also one of the people that like to visit many different tracks. It is hard to go to tracks that you have to change your car completly to your different rules and also take a chance on losing your motor if you have your car set up right. I have been racing toy cars for 32 years and have never seen some of the rules you have.

Just my opinion these kinds of issues should be talked about in person at the race track or on the phone. When this is on internet on the tracks hobbytalk listing you are making the track look bad to other people. Then people say they don't want to come because all these people do is argue. Jams is a great track owned by great people and has great racing competiters. Not tryin to start trouble just an opinion. Just work out issues at track and just between everyone there so track and racers don't look bad.

but it makes for good reading. lol

in all seriousness. online arguing really does reflect poorly on our track, and our track attendence has been down this season. I'm not at all saying that the attendence has anything to do arguing online. But it does have everything to do with the economy that we are all living in, which is why i agree with jamz policy of novak brushless esp and motor. Not everyone has the funds to go out and pick up the latest and greatest electronics out there, just to stay competitive. yet on the other hand, i wish jamz could make it easier for visitors to race what they bring. idk
