View Full Version : What happened to nitro pan racing?
Benjie Wright 09-22-2008, 02:19 PM Alright, the nats have long been over, it has been nearly 2 months now, and there is still no activity on here to amount to squat. Did the nats take that much out of everybody, or are yah'll contiplating suicide still? Scott is the only one on here making any post-NOW THAT IS DANGEROUS,we all know how he already talks to his self,we do not need to give him anymore rope or he will hang himself. Mclin got so mad he took his site off the map or moved it or something, (i still can't get on mclin)-may have done it because he has gone smurfy. The way it's going guys- it won't be long before no one is on here- and Hank will shut down the deal due to no activity. In a month from now we are all going to be wondering-What type of car is it we race?
What about them Smurfs? They got whooped and still haven't made a decent post, It's just a shame. There just toy cars guys no need to get that mad about it. I got my but handed to me also but i am still trying to keep my spirits up and all. Oh well , just trying to do my part and stir up some $#!+.

McLin 09-22-2008, 04:09 PM We are still working on updating the site but it should be up shortly. The forum is back up and you can get directly into that.
I have to agree though, things are pretty slow around the pan car sites.

Maybe that will help ya Phe-Phe.
Due to the Nats and the schedule we had, the Sugar Bowl falling apart the whole schedule kind of got a little jumbled.
I too am getting an itchy trigger finger, no it is not an infection, unless going fast is an infection! :D:D:D
The racing picks back up in October with the 500 at LPR and then in November with the GASCAR finale at LPR, running in conjunction with the Boyd Hughes Memorial Race. You guys may want to show up for that one, I will be running a Quarter Scale car in that race. One word from you Phi-Phi and I will get my cars mixed up and run the Quarter Scale in your heat!
McLin 09-22-2008, 09:39 PM OK I am back up! Somethings may not work right now but most of them do. Still working on it. Let me know what you thinK.
If you still can't get in, you may have the old cookie, try refreshing it.
ScottH 09-22-2008, 09:44 PM Looks pretty good so far.
Tim Mc 09-22-2008, 10:47 PM From the outside looking in...
The more the class(es) are seen, the more interest they could spark! I'm not speaking of parking lot race either. Put them on the local track with the regular shows on a regular basis. With the battery/motor classes becoming so heated, racers need to know there is an option to move to. Racing once a month, every other month or every three months just is not enough to attract the hardcore racers.
I'm not bashing the nitro efforts by no means. Racing is like a commercial, play it regular and folks will take notice. Play it once in a while... well you know.
ScottH 09-22-2008, 10:59 PM Tim -- you are 100% dead on.
McLin 09-23-2008, 07:44 AM Not having a local track at all, I can’t comment very much on weekly racing because I don’t do any. But when we only race at a track every once in a while, we become more of an irritation that an asset. Some of the guys at Easley started a weekly nitro class but for some reason it fell off to nothing.
You guys are right though, to see what we do grow, racers are going to have to race in on a weekly basis. Admit it or not, most people are followers not leaders and they will do what they see others doing before they try to go in a new direction on their own.
Echeconnee 09-23-2008, 08:01 AM Scott I have been meaning to ask you if you got the wheel and pedals in your Q-Scale yet?:jest:www.rc-oval.com/forum (http://www.rc-oval.com/forum)

The big hold up is this. We want to see pictures of the barriers on the inside of the track. All the guys I have talked to are very, very aprehensive about coming all that way to run on a track that will destroy cars.
IF those barriers have be removed or reduced to such an amount that they will not launch cars then the guys will show up, maybe not on the 4th, but they will show up.
They/we want to "see" what they have been changed to.
Benjie Wright 09-23-2008, 09:18 PM Oh Lord, Scott with a Q Scale- RUH OH! Mclin, i definately feel your pain- It is still hard for me to believe i have to travel 3 hours to race, we definetly need a track around Norlina somewhere. Tim, i do agree with you about needing to be seen more, it,s just so hard to commit to all the travel with the price of gas these days. There is talk of a track in Sanford N.C , but i feel sure it will be Carpet- and of course it will be flat- What the H ever happened to banking. I want a 290 foot tri-oval made of CONCRETE with progressive banking with a covered drivers stand and a well stocked hobby shop. Boy that sounds ROCK HILL S.C. Later-Benjie Wright:thumbsup:
ScottH 09-23-2008, 09:46 PM 2 -1/2 times scarier!!!
latemodel100 09-24-2008, 01:17 AM I am up here and not running anywhere, working and full time school is taking my time, gonna try to get somewhere soon I am having major withdrawals................
COYOTE 09-24-2008, 03:05 PM Hello guys,
The nats didnt take the wind out of our sails............ we took July off before the nats, and we were scheduled to be at the sugarbowl this month. It didnt work out so we opted for club racing at LPR this weekend. GASCAR cranks back up on October 25th for the "500" at Lagoon Park Raceway, then again for the Annual Boyd Hughes Memorial Race at LPR on November 22. We just traveledl so much to Easley from May untnil August, and had to catch up on things here. Still itching to get out onto the track, though....and looking forward to getting thigns fired back up again. Hey, Benji........ light a fire under Kevin and ask him to e-mail me about the 2009 GASCAR schedule i gave him and Roger in Easley at the Nats..........my schedule hinges on you guys input about splitting the GASCAR series into two divisions......he nor Roger has replied to my e-mails............. light a firecracker under them, okay?
Tim
Benjie Wright 09-24-2008, 04:47 PM I'll let them know- if i see that OLD#3 -his acrookedletters is mine. You guys have fun at the track, hope to make it down for atleast one of the tw you guys have left. Later- Benjie Wright
P.S- I hope that the track in Georgia works out, I personally don't care about what gets done to the rumble strips- You're not supposed to be down there anyway. haha SCOTT
Benjie Wright 09-24-2008, 04:50 PM Dang was that Darrell? Where he come from? He's getting as bad as them dang SMURFS-, Sneaking up on everyone. later-Benjie:thumbsup:
McLin 09-24-2008, 05:29 PM Never you mind where Darrell has been but if you MUST know he has been in training with the Mafia and if you are "wise" you would take that as good information and let it be. Other wise, "things" may come at you from directions you are not expecting.
I'm just saying.
COYOTE 09-24-2008, 05:43 PM Benji,
Them rumble strips can do a whopping job on your Phenom car. Believe me, I have hit one of those catapults (launched my car 40 ft into the air and came down in middle of turn 2). You are not suppose to be down there anyway, but the track is so banked and fast, that the car just wants to run down on the low groove....... thats the fastest line around the track. Trying not to run that low is difficult........ they need to be removed or at least ground down. John is working on the situation, but they are a hazard to a 1/10 scale car. Just wanted you to know the scoop. Its a wonderful track to race on and I hope it works out........ will keep yo posted.
tim
Benjie Wright 09-24-2008, 07:41 PM Mclin, is that like a threat? Darrell, what am i going to do with you man, hanging around with wannabe smurfs these days? You are turning into a bad apple, conspiring with smurfs and X_GODFATHERS and such. Just to let you know-- You are out of my will now. Guess i'm the only one who gets it, dang, thats a shame cause i don't get much. Later,THE PHENOM
McLin 09-24-2008, 09:13 PM I'm just saying.
latemodel100 09-27-2008, 03:45 AM Oh boy did I stir something up by popping in, LOL.......... Just trying to get my edumacation so I can out smart the smurfs thats all........
Mitch R 09-30-2008, 01:05 PM I think I'll buy a blue car just so I can make more educated arguments.
kevina250 09-30-2008, 07:39 PM That's right. Come on over.
Benjie Wright 10-01-2008, 05:44 PM Think hard on that education part Mitch- Take a good hard look at Kevin and Mclin.(now -you see what i mean.) Plus if you buy a blue car you will save money- They never want to race anymore, heck i can't even talk um into a good practice session. Heck i even promised to take it easy on um.
All they want to do is talk about how good they are and how they once were all winners. Damn shame they are all wieners now. :woohoo: They are the only ones i know that have to have a track to be the exact dimensions that the BLUE car can turn in, it needs to be 750 ft run line- 40 dang feet wide-and it has to be made out of some special smurf material that only they know of-rugular concrete or asphalt will just not do. Later-THE PHENOM
COYOTE 10-02-2008, 12:33 AM Guys,
John Norman has asked me to take a head count as who is going to be at the race this weekend at Lanier R/C????? He needs to know as he needs 25 racers to show or he will postpone the race until late october. He was at the track tonight puting down the inside barriers, and said he wiil have pics tomorrow of them. Hopefully, he will post them here for all to see. he has worked hard on this track, to get it ready, so letsl support his efforts. I am working this weekend and cannot go. I work every third weekend, and this is my time to be at work (being at a hospital, I can't change my days). Let us know, her tomorrow if you are coming to Lanier this wekend. John needs a headcount. Lets support this track and give it a chance to work. Let us know here tomorrow if you are going to make it.
Thanks, Guys
Tim Smith
Mitch R 10-02-2008, 06:50 AM Sorry Tim, Sorry John, can't make it.
Benjie Wright 10-02-2008, 04:22 PM I would really like to support his track, however from what i am hearing there may only be a couple that can make it this time, I definetly can't see driving that far in order to race against two or three guys. As far as the 25th- thats the same weekend as the Race in ALA isn't it. Sorry-But there needs to be a real good promise of atleast 5 or 6 cars to run against, Are you sure that november might not be better. Later-Benjie Wright
ScottH 10-02-2008, 06:36 PM Oct 25th is the GASCAR 500 at LPR. I defienately will not make it to Lanier for that race.
As far as this weekend, I cannot make it. LPR last weekend, Orange Beach next weekend.
