Hi all,

We have the MCR Bush series going full swing and I need to ask my fellow racers for help. Our Bush series is targeted to rookie racers. I provide all cars and controllers at this time and we run in an IROC style event. As interest increases, I would like to expand to a spec class series also. Probably Lifelike T chassis with slip on silicones only.
I have been designating a "Rookie of the Race" award after each event and have been awarding a full race track with cars, controllers, and power pack. The tracks have come from donations of sets where collectors have wanted the cars only and have contributed the sets. I then provide the cars and we award them to the kids to try and increase interest and participation.
But I am now out of tracks and am asking for any assistance anyone can provide. Anyone have tracks they have removed cars and is just gathering dust? I will pay shipping if you are willing to donate. I would prefer they be repacked to save on shipping costs.

Please let me know if you can help. I would like to build a group of young racers to perhaps keep this hobby alive in the future.

Thanks,
Gary

Gary is a awesome guy fellow slot car racers! I was at the last race which was last nite, and had a BLAST!!! Seeing the smiles on the young kids, and racing with them was as fun as it could get. As been the only "teen" (17), i would love to see Slot Car Racing expand!!!

Gary, i can spread the word around my High School about your racing series. Ill try to get some friends to go with me the next time. You can gurantee that Gary has already got one kid (me) hooked on Slot Cars!

Thanks for all your support/fun Gary! Most fun ive had in a long time!!!

Thanks to all for their assistance. I am going to dedicate a page on the Marion County Raceway website to all that contribute.
I am also going to hit up our local dirt track and see if I can get some Adult/Child ticket pairs. In exchange, I will take the Marion County Road Course to the dirt track and let the kids run. And of course hand out flyers, etc.
I'm als going after the car dealers and auto supply stores.

Now if we can keep the kids interested... I know we won't keep them all but if we can develop a core group... it has to help!

Currently I am providing all cars and we run several different IROC style races. I have been impressed by how much the driving improved when we went to a "crash and burn" format. If we get the interest, we will also add a spec class car that each driver can own. I have pretty much decided on Lifelike T chassis Nascar. Pure stock except for a spec tire.

I will be dedicating a part of Marion County Raceway website with a blog of lessons learned, what worked, what didn't and a place for suggestions. Perhaps others can develop a similar program... we have to get the kids. And I believe we can!
