falcon49xxxx 09-20-2008, 01:38 AM Randy,That is so SWeeeeeeeeeeeeT!!!Great Job!alexander
jwrjr 09-20-2008, 02:27 AM I'm glad that you like it.
JeffG 09-20-2008, 09:03 AM Damn. Here we go again...more modeling decisions to make! Looks sweet! Good thing I'm at a point where I can still add it. Nice visuals too in the demo.
falcon49xxxx 09-20-2008, 04:14 PM I'm glad that you like it.
You did great work,as usual,James.alexander
jwrjr 09-20-2008, 07:38 PM Thank you. Randy's ability to build it into the model and then film it shows the effect at its best.
backof 09-22-2008, 11:54 AM The website says you can light the "Front Search Lights (or) Interior Lights".
Just to be clear, does this mean that you can't light both?
If not is it possible to do both if you purchase the parts kit?

Lou Dalmaso 09-23-2008, 12:08 PM Randy,
Have you sent any to steve yet?
I'm looking forward to getting my mitts on one. I've got the kit all warmed up and ready for it.

Lou Dalmaso 09-23-2008, 03:34 PM Sweet!
do you have anything cooked up for the Chariot?
tiny leds for the Headlamps, something for the dash and radar and maybe an amber bulb for the robot?
just thinkin'

fokkerpilot 10-26-2008, 12:07 AM Space Circuits over at Fuzznoggincreations.com has Pod Core Effects 100% built, 24 LEDs on board versus 8 LED &, fits perfectly. A bit more in price for more 3x accuracy in lighting effect and engineered very well. Buyer option based budget and taste.
Lou Dalmaso 10-28-2008, 10:43 AM Hey Randy,
I just got my circuit from Steve.
It looks good, but what was the thinking behind the warm white/yellow bulbs?
my druthers would be to have the fusion core be a whiter color
I'll be adding additional lighting (cuz, i tend to go overboard) to it, but it's a great place to start. I especially like that you provide the ribbon cable. It's a very clean solution.
between this and the photo-etch, it gonna be a treat to "pimp this pod"
jwrjr 10-28-2008, 11:05 AM It may be that he figured that since the original used incandescent bulbs he figured that "warm white" would look more like the effect in the TV show.

that's cool.. Hey James, can I add more LEDs to the circuit board without damaging it? not the pod circuit, but the ones for spotlight/cabin lighting.
for example, the presoldered locations on the board for the two lites...can I put more than one bulb in each location or will that screw up the presoldered resistors?
jwrjr 10-28-2008, 04:19 PM Those are 150 ohm resistors. That means that there will be a little more than 8 ma available on each pair of pads. This is plenty for interior lights or headlights (using superbright whites). Divide that amount of current by the number of leds you want to pprovide power for. They get dim very fast. You will not hurt the circuit. But you will likely be disappointed in the results.
Lou Dalmaso 10-28-2008, 04:23 PM thanks James, I will dry fit anything before I decide. just wanted to be sure I wasn't going to harm the circuit.
jwrjr 10-29-2008, 12:31 AM Damaging the circuit is one thing that you don't need to worry about. (However, if you decide to change those resistors, you will void the warranty. You will be "on your own".)
fokkerpilot 10-29-2008, 09:41 PM Warranty? Good idea, didn't know they came with them.

j2_junkie 08-05-2009, 01:57 AM Quick question-I built my Pod last summer, was wondering how difficult it would be to install a light kit after the fact? For someone in the know, where does the power supply go? Thanks......
j2_junkie 08-05-2009, 01:59 AM To be clear, I'm referring to the VoodooFX kit......
Lou Dalmaso 08-05-2009, 08:42 AM J2,
considering that the pod is a rubik's cube of a kit, I would say that it would be near impossible to instal the lighting kit "after the fact"
depending on how elaborate your lighting designs are, the only area for the tangle of wires to go is under the dashboard (between the dash board and the front wall)
plus I had to carve out a bit of the floor to get the VooDoo board in place. After all of that there was no room for internal batteries unless you want to give up space in the cabin. I ran the power externally through a 1/8" plug
j2_junkie 08-05-2009, 10:07 PM Lou,
Thanks for the input--figured it would be a "can of worms"--reckon I'll spring for a new kit but forgo the detailed interior--after checking out VooDoo's video of the kit w/lights it suddenly became a "must have". Looks waaay too cool to pass up! Is it possible to convert the switch to the magnetic method I've seen online? That's something totally new to me, and would rock........
Dave
Lou Dalmaso 08-08-2009, 07:33 PM Dave,
Don't know about the mag switch...The first pod I built, I used a core circuit that had the mag switch built in and its cool as all get out.
but I don't know how to add a mag switch "cold turkey" to another setup. I imagine it's like any other, but different
j2_junkie 08-08-2009, 11:41 PM Just had a whacky idea...i'm intending to build another pod w vfx's lighting setup...
My idea's constructing a diorama with a base a few inches deep w rocks, plants etc to replicate the planet surface seen in the show's fx shots--mount the space pod so it's sitting on a clear tube, supporting it offground, the tube rests on the spindle of a small motor w regulator, set to slowly turn, giving the illusion of the pod hovering above ground. Could even install an mp3 device to play sound fx from the show...
How difficult would it be to pull this off? Wondering mostly about the motor & speed control...can pretty much figure the rest in my noodle.....
