I have an 11hp honda gx340 that threw a rod and had a cracked piston. I took it apart and replaced the piston, ring, and rod. It has fired up great but at higher rpm it does not sound very good. It sounds like it is hesitating a little. Also there is a distinct wining noise similar to a bearing going. I am thinking about taking a video and posting it on youtube with a link so you guys/gals could hear it.

I have run the engine for about five minutes and have drained the oil. It looks grey, glittery, and has some larger chuncks of metal. it is also blowing smoke (it did that before, but then again it did ended up with the above problems).

let me know what i should do...

What was the condition of the cylinder walls, any bad scratches. If it continues to smoke after the new parts possible the cylinder walls are scratched or oil getting past the valves. Has it ever been run low of oil. The glitter/chunks is not good. These particles circulating through out the engine is not good. More than likely has caused other problems.

A bit of glitter is normal if you're breaking the engine in. However, sounds like you're getting much more than a few bits of metal.
