View Full Version : Ertl machine shed set
pearl 09-19-2008, 02:18 PM Bought this building and made a little change in it .
It snaps together.. i glued it ...The interior walls look kind of toy like so i made an inside wall .It dont come with a floor so you have to make one. I can use it for farm machinery or cars.. trucks.. whatever... I posted pictures on the slot car board as well so you can see it works for cars as well. Most of the toolboxes and things come from the motormax dioramas.
The building is 14 inches long by 9 inches wide.
To show how large it is the Caddy on the back of the truck is 1/43 scale. So it could even be used for a 1/43 scale shop.

Had to cut out the window openings and make up frames for the windows . A bit of work but improves the look of the building.

One side of the building is not finished yet but could be used to park whatever.

I have been doing pretty good with cars got rid of a lot i have cars every where and i am getting a new room built just for cars .Display cases for 1000 little cars and should be able to put about 500 on dioramas they will be 4 ft wide and 24 ft long once i join them all together.

They came with the motormax diorama so scraped them off the wall figured may as well use them. besides never seen a shop yet that the guys dont have a pinup girl or car pictures on the wall. l.o.l.
mama_mia_k 10-23-2008, 01:17 PM Pearl, I'm curious about those figures (little people and animals) that you used. Where did you get them, or who makes them?
Awesome layout, by the way.

The little people are 1/87 scale they are easier to find in a hobby shop and a lot cheaper than 1/64 scale and of course they are out of scale .
Model Power. Prieser,, Woodland Scenics are a few companys that make them .
Preiser makes some 1/64 scale people .
The1/87 scale people fit in a 1/64 scale car as you can see in the last picture, we had to cut the steering wheel off put the lady in the car then glue the steering wheel back on.
1/64 scale people dont fit in 1/64 scale cars at least i have not found any that do but they fit ok in a 1/43 scale car, so much for correct scale. l.o.l.
I use my own scale if it looks close.. good enough .
i try place people near things where you dont notice the scale is wrong i even cut down the workbench a little lower to make them look more natural and the camera angle makes a difference.
The standing dog you can get at a T.S.C. store. Ertl makes a package filled with critters a couple of dogs.. chickens horses .and cows.. little piggies.and it is only 3 or 4 dollars for a pack They are 1/64 scale .
You can see the chickens in this picture i find they are a little tall .After we cut the base off them they were pushed down into the diorama to get them a little closer to the ground . Not my diorama a friends. She just pushed them down a little into the Styrofoam and glued them there. She also glued a couple of swans in the pond .Not sure if they came with the set or she found them in my parts trays ..l.o.l.
