Gents:
I have a honda GX390 engine attached to a 7000 watt Dayton genset.
THe unit will only idle, thus producing no juice.
I have replaced the auto idle board, the cap. and checked the govoner, ( which works when I increase the engine speed by hand).
When I do increase engine speed the unit puts out power.
With the auto idle turned on or off the engine speed stays the same.
Any ideas??

Check the linkages at the throttle plate, they may be in a bind preventing the throttle to pull tension on the governor spring and bring the unit up to operating rpm's.

Thanks 30
Did some adjustments and now works.
However the unit seems to hunt.
Produces 155 volts to 130 volts. I do not have a tac. I tried to adjust the gov. as it can slide about 1", but the engine never settles down. The auto idle seems to be working, I turn it off and the engine backs off, if I plug a lignt into the unit, the engine speed goes up.
Any ideas.

Could be a restriction in the carburetor, or you may have a little play in the governor. I would try the static governor adjustment again just to be sure. If it still hunts then I would look at the carburetor as the source of the problem.
