indy-25 09-16-2008, 10:55 PM Hope to be racing there soon this winter.
Michael#81 09-17-2008, 10:42 PM I am also ready to be back in there racing this winter.
Track is super tacky and super smooth.
drhodes1989 09-19-2008, 08:45 AM Also looking to get a Traxxas Slash spec class going for all interested racers. Once we figure out how much of an interest there is we can outline what you can and can't do to the truck for the class.
Michael#81 09-21-2008, 11:47 AM We talked to the owner yesterday and he said he would be interested in a slash class if there were enough people to run it.
If we get a good turn out for the slash class I will buy one.
As far as rules go I would think make it a spec class where everyone has the same components and are using the same things so the advantage comes with driving ability.
indy-25 09-21-2008, 02:36 PM michael did you get any news on opening weekend?
Michael#81 09-21-2008, 07:58 PM I have not. I did talk to Jarman and he said they are going to try and run on saturday nights. Doors open at Noon with racing at 4. That way it will get over at a reasonable hour for everybody to get home.
I was down there all day yesterday helping with the new track. It is going to be bada$$. I was not able to get down there today to help finish it so I am not sure where Randy got with it. It is going to be an awesome layout with one of the biggest triples I have ever seen. You will be able to do it in mod if you land the jump before it just right.
I will talk to Jarman and Tony and see when they want to try and open. They already have a couple big races to start planning and will have details soon.
indy-25 09-21-2008, 09:16 PM Sounds good. They should try and get opened fairly soon.
indy-25 09-29-2008, 08:27 PM Opening weekend Saturday October 4th. Practice at noon racing at 430. www.hoosierhobbiesraceway.com Any questions please post.
indy-25 09-30-2008, 03:01 PM Hey guys! It's good to see that we have some guys coming in for our opening weekend. Jarman and I just wanted to update the schedule a little bit and clarify a few things. This will be a Saturday night off-road event. For those of you who have been looking for carpet, those dates will be announced soon. Doors will open at 10:00a.m. on Saturday and Racing will begin at 5:30p.m.
If anybody has any questions, please just let me or Jarman know via Email at tony@americanrcoutlet.com or dlannan@sbcglobal.net or you can just give us a call at the shop at 812-847-0257.
Thanks,
Tony

CRCDUDE 12-23-2008, 11:59 AM Nice, i have had request to run the track with "less moisture" so you may actually need some "pin" on your tires.
I would bring slicks if you have them though, as last weekend they didnt water but from the weather being so cold the moisture came up after it warmed and traction was still very high :)
Papa18 12-23-2008, 12:01 PM Well i don't have any slicks but i guess i can make some if i have too,i think Scott B might be coming to.
CRCDUDE 12-23-2008, 12:04 PM Cool bout time he gets his arse over here.

royz400 12-23-2008, 07:34 PM Can't make it this Sat. going to Fort Wayne to run Nastruck. It will be the 3rd before I get back there.

Is the offroad more suited for 1/10 or 1/8 scale? What day you racin on, Sat or Sun?
RCDawg83 02-28-2009, 11:35 AM For me, the track is perfect for 1/10, and 1/8 works fine too. We have some great 2WD truck racing (open class, but 13.5 can keep up with anything out there if its geared right).
Mostly the 1/10 runs off-road and the 1/8 guys run on the oval, but its whatever people show up with and feel like racing. If people start showing up with Slashes, I think they would have a ball.
Racing is on Sundays and starts at 1:00. People start showing up around 9 or 10.

how big is the track compared to HHR?
RCDawg83 03-02-2009, 12:21 AM I'd say the oval is about the size of HHR, but I could be off a bit. The off-road is inside the oval. We do have banking on the ends of the oval. We are not nearly as technical as HHR, but traction is a challenge. By late afternoon on race days, surface is dusty and sandy. There are some jumps and table tops. All things considered, it is challenging to drive the off-road with 2WD.
You guys have a great track too, and Terre Haute guys always have a good time when we can get down. Just a matter of time, gas and marital harmony :o
basketcase45 03-02-2009, 08:23 AM how big is the track compared to HHR?
The Oval has a 320 foot runline w/ some banking at each end; plenty of room to open up the throttle!
Offroad has a 475 foot runline. Tabletop right in front of the drivers stand, some doubles, and it uses some of the oval track too. Joe's is a sandy, hard pack surface- holeshots are the tire of choice.
basketcase45 03-04-2009, 07:22 AM thanks for the info
Sorry, didn't mean to hijack your thread.... Nitro racers come to Joe's this summer for some great racing!
proracer3533 03-27-2009, 01:04 PM Wanted to let everyone know that the original date of the HOOSIER SHOOTOUT is being moved from April 12th to April 19th due to April 12th being Easter. We hope this has not created any problems. Last year we had a good turnout and hope it gets even bigger this year. Hope to see everyone on the 19th.
